New free dining offer yeaaah

PT - In your opinion is it better/faster to make my reservation before Wednesday and then call at 7am to apply code than to make a new reservation under special offers on website on Wednesday? Also, I have to make two because my parents are joining us for part of the trip, so can't all be under one. What are the odds that the special offer will be up that early (i.e. before the phone lines open)? Is it usually? Is it not? Or is it anyone's guess? I just know that it can take 10 minutes or more just to make a new reservation - once I get through to a CM!

It just struck me as strange that Disney would make it that easy for people to have FD over Thanksgiving week, one of their busiest weeks. Have they had FD during the same week in the recent past?

In the past the Thurs prior to the holiday was generally the last day to check in for free dining. That's why some people are rather skeptical about these rumored dates - it makes it really easy for travelers at certain busy times of year, particularly Thanksgiving and Jersey Week, to get free dining for their entire stay.

It figures my dates won't be included in this....Oh well, looks like unless we get a pin soon I won't be staying on property for my honeymoon...I'm depressed :( I just can't justify spending that much on a moderate w/ no discount for us.

Don't give up hope for a discount. Last year most of the dates that were blacked out for free dining were still included in the fall room-only offer. It won't be as great a deal as free dining, but you should still be able to save a chunk of change off of rack rate.

I've never done this "promo race" :lmao: I can't wait for Wed. to see if everyone gets what they wanted, if something was closed out, what were the harder hotels to get, etc. So excited!!

How many of you have your trip booked through a travel agent? I've already spoken with her and she was aware that a new offer was coming on wednesday, but wasn't notified of what it would be. Now I have to sit helplessly and hope that she is able to apply it to our reservations. I feel helpless! At least if I was on hold at 6 a.m. on Wednesday I would know that I was trying for myself. Hope she is as diligent with my reservations as I would be. Oooohhhhh.......the wait will be torture!!!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes I'm booked with a TA, out of Toronto although we're in the blackout week of October so doesn't really matter ho hum........

When the only way to book was over the phone (not online) it was kinda fun to get up early in the morning and be on hold with WDW reservations, and post online to the DISboards. We would post things like what songs we were listening to, how long we've been waiting, what resort we got, prices, etc. It WAS fun and exciting! lol (I'm such a Disney nerd!)

Quick question...we aren't sure if there will be 6 or 4 in our party. If FD happens Wed and we book for 6 and we find out only 4 are going, can I change without a fee and still get FD?

Yes, it will be crazy! The boards will explode Wendesday morning. Heaven help us if the FD code isn't released Wednesday - The Dis might downright CRASH! :-)

Yes, up until 45 days before your check in date. After that if you make changes that lessen the amount of your package, they can charge you a $50.00 fee.

Is Disney definitely going with the 2 day base ticket in order to qualify for the package or is there a chance that a 1 day ticket is all you will need?
If I don't use the tickets due to my AP's can I just hold on to them until next summer, maybe?
Crunching the numbers and added a few more dining reservations in anticipation!

Good question-- this is what I'm trying to decide, too..

We will be there from Dec 8th-Dec 16th, will we be able to get the free dining for the entire stay?
No, you can't apply the discount at all because your check in date does not fall within the FD promo dates. A split stay may be possible, see post #666 for all Free Dining Info and Guidelines.

I would count on it being a 2 day base ticket requirement, that's how it's been since last year. You can use the tickets later to upgrade to APs. See post #666 for more detailed info.

I'm going from Dec. 3-10. Can I get free dining?
Yes. As long as your check in date is included in the FD promo dates, you can have the FD discount applied to your entire stay, up to 14 nights. See post #666 for all the Free Dining Info and Guidelines.
