New free dining offer yeaaah

My original ressie was booked 7/21 thru the Disney website. No PIN number or any discounts. If the CM changed anything on my ressie this morning other than adding free dining, she did not tell me. When I look at my original invoice my total was 2682.82. If I go thru the booking process online now just to see what my total would be booking free dining today, the total is 2239.78. That only saves 443.04. If dining is 47.99 per adult per day and there are two of us, the total for dining would be 767.84. So why is the savings only showing as 443.04 and why am I only getting 292.80 back? So confused!!!

Was your original invoice total before or after your $200 deposit?

Just got FREE DINING for the Pop for December 2-11!!!!! Been waiting for this for MONTHS! SO excited!!! We upgraded to the DDP from the free QS, only $198 more for 2 adults and free for the kids.

my TA said she didn't think FD would apply because we are staying at the campground...
I'm getting what people are saying about using a TA it's stressing me to have to leave it all in her hands....

The Ft. Wilderness Campground is never included in Free Dining Promos.

I see a free dining link on the WDW website. Is there an advantage to calling and booking over the phone? Would I get an additional discount over the phone?

I just tried to get an online quote for a week in Oct and I could not find any availability in Value, Moderate, or Deluxe. I tried the second and third weeks of Oct.

Okay, well I looked at my original invoice again. I was wrong, it was 2975.62 and if I booked a brand new ressie with free dining today it would be 2239.78, a difference of 735.84 and I only got a credit of 292.80 so I definitely need to call and ask what is going on.

On my lunch, so I can finally post my success story!!! All in, my phone call, once I actually got through, was exactly 120 minutes...was afraid a few times that I was cut-off as no music played until 102 minutes...but the good news is:

I have free dining at POFQ for Oct 2 - 9 (7 nights) with standard room and 2-day base ticket for $1871.06. I had already bought 8-day premium YES tickets for $626.71 so we will remove the 2-day base tickets for a future trip. We are arriving on Oct 1 and I was able to keep my room only reservation with CAA discount for that day for $166.39 total. We'll eat meals out-of-pocket that day. The CM who helped me was exceptional and knew all of the finer details without being prompted. She told me that she linked the two reservations and has requested a continuity reservation, so here's hoping there will be no need to switch rooms once we arrive.

We were so hoping that our original plan of POFQ would work out and it has!!!! Very pleased and so excited that we can now finalize our trip plans!

No difference at all. The website is easier and no hold time! A lot of people are having to add the the FD to existing reservations, so hence the need to call.

I've tested this in the past, and in my experience, it made no difference.

In room/package availability, it can, just by chance... but not necessarily discounts. Though I'm sure there are exception stories out there.

Wasn't able to take advantage of FD. We had ressies for 10/22-10/29 with airfare bought along with MNSSHP tickets bought. We couldnt change our plans without it really costing us so we will be there and paying full rack rate. But at least we will be at WDW. Glad others were able to use discount

Could you not just do room only for the 22nd? Just making sure you weren't told that entire time frame was not available. Initially that's what they told my TA. Then they looked it up again and got us covered for the 23rd - 30th. Praying for pixie dust for you in some form!

Just got home but wanted to share my trick for getting through to someone at reservations......try to take a shower!! I got on the phone at 7am and waited, waited, waited. Finally, at 8am, I handed the phone to dh because I had to be somewhere at 9am. Told him that if someone answers, DO NOT let them go....I would get out of the shower. Ofcourse, as soon as I lathered the shampoo.......

All's well that ends well, because we were able to book Nov 27-Dec 3 at POFQ. We were booked for Sept 27 but some unexpected Veterinary bills were going to make paying off that trip in a few weeks kind of a stretch. Now I'm super excited for November...haven't seen Christmas decorations since 2006!!!

Yes. Your check in date is during a blackout period (1/15- 1/21).

You can only get free dining if you check in on 1/22. So you'd have to do a room only/package from 1/18 - 1/22, and then a package from 1/22 to 1/31.

You must check in on one of the dates listed in the FD offer. From the dates listed, I see that the deal is blacked out until Jan 22nd for your stay. So you would need to book a reservation for the 18th-21st and then a new reservation for the 22nd-31st. You would only get the free dining for the 22nd-31st. Be sure to note though that the 2nd reservation will require park tickets as well, so be sure to at least book a 2 day park ticket with that package.

Be careful because you may have to buy two sets of park tickets and start all over on the second reservation. That would really eat into your cost savings!

I had a tentative reservation for January w/ the hopes of free dining. Of course my dates were before the special started, so I changed the dates to March. Saved my family of 6 almost $1800 w/ free dining.

I called the reservation line 4 times and got through - booked w/o issue.

THANK YOU to all for being able to find a way to take my kids to disney. I never would have realized what was out there w/o everyone's input.
