New Finger Scanners - Work much better than old ones

We have an AP and we were down at both parks 2 weeks ago.

I noticed that the tunstyles had new finger scanners. :cool1: They had a blue hugh to them and they were kind of rubbbery to the touch. you can feel that your finger has a much better 'grip' on the pad.

over 4 days, and multiple entries in and out of the parks each day - it registered on the 1st try for both of us each time :thumbsup2

The old pads were much smoother, and when we woulld have to wiggle or slide our finger up and down in order to get it to register. It would fail at least 3 out of every 5 tries. Of course we would get the over anxious gate attendent who would want to see ID and then rescan using our thumb or another finger (which we would forget what finger we used, and cause the ID to fail again on our next trip).

So good news for us AP holders :goodvibes

Glad to hear that

Rubbery feel sounds kind of gross to me when it's something everyone puts their fingers in. I feel like that is soaking up everyone's grossness more than the old non porous surface.

I may be getting the wrong idea though.

I thought the same thing. I like to think they sanitize the scanners (wishful thinking!?!?)... and a rubbery surface would certainly be more difficult to sanitize... ??? Ew.

i hadn't thought about that until you said it.......

If you don't want to touch the scanner surface, you can bypass it by showing your ID. They will manually turn the gate so you can enter.

There are rubbery surfaces all over the parks where people put their hands. Many of the restraint systems have a rubbery/plastic coating. Jurassic Park is a huge one that comes to mind. Many of the seatbelts have a plastic button as well. Door handles have a plastic covering, many chair in the restaurants have plastic backs, etc. etc. etc.

I'll be honest - I'm the first one to reach for the sanitizer when I walk through the turnstiles (located in that little metal basket / shelf on the opposite side of the turnstiles :groom:)

The new 'rubber' or 'tacky' finger scanners are less gross - believe it or not!

The old smooth finger scanners you could feel all of the grease and oils from everyone else left on the scanner - and sometimes you could even see it :crazy2:

The new ones don't leave behind a hint of oil, they don't feel greasy, and your finger does not slide all over.

I still sanitize regardless new or old scanner

Just think of all that nose picking and underwear riding up in the summertime.:lmao:

I'll be honest and say that I've never, ever brought sanitizer to a park.
