This might just be me but a "Finding Nemo the Musical" at AK just dosn't click with me. I know that AK is all about animals but their is nothing at AK like an aquarium that supports this show there. :confused3

I feel they should instead have a musical show still with Tarzan without the the rock and roll part and add in "The Jungle Book" story as well. These Disney movies I think fit in better with the AK park than Finding Nemo.

Again this is my opinion, what is yours?

theres going to be a finding nemo musical at AK? ive not heard anything about this can anyone give me any info? but i agree, there doesn't seem to be alot of aquatic life in AK to support this idea? :confused3

I think this will be a great attraction for Animal Kingdom Park. You're right that they've needed something "fishy" and this attraction fits the bill perfectly!

That must be what they were building a couple of weeks ago when we were there. In my opinion Animal Kingdom will continue to grow and rumors are ;) that we will see a 5th park at Disney with a sea animal theme. Finding Nemo was a big hit for Disney and why not start putting the characters out there now! The attraction can be moved later, if needed.

And as Disney adds more to AK, the park will continue to stay open later etc. More late nights more $$$$. :teeth:

I love Finding Nemo so I'm sure I'll go back to AK to see it.. :sunny:

Thet are in fact enclosing the Theatre in the Wild that housed the Tarzan show and putting in a live musical Nemo show.

'Finding Nemo' to Make Splash In Musical Spectacular at Disney's Animal Kingdom
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (April 7, 2006) -- The undersea world that charmed audiences around the world in the Disney presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios smash-hit film “Finding Nemo” will come to life in an all-new musical stage show debuting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in late 2006.

Featuring original songs by Tony Award-winning “Avenue Q” composer Robert Lopez and a cappella musical “Along the Way” composer Kristen Anderson-Lopez, “Finding Nemo -- The Musical” will immerse Walt Disney World guests in the story of Marlin and Nemo, an overprotective clownfish father and his curious son, through a dazzling production that combines puppets, dancers, acrobats and animated backdrops.

The show represents the first time Disney has taken a non-musical animated feature and transformed it into an original musical production. It will be presented in the newly enclosed Theater in the Wild.

“In ‘Finding Nemo,’ directors Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich and the talented team at Pixar created a film filled with unforgettable characters and a story rich with honest emotions that resonated with audiences everywhere,” said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The movie was a worldwide box-office success and an Academy Award winner.

“We are truly excited to bring this beloved story to life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in this new musical spectacular.”

During “Finding Nemo -- The Musical,” Theater in the Wild will become a magical undersea environment through innovative lighting, sound, special effects and the theatrical puppetry of Michael Curry, who designed the richly detailed character puppets seen in the Broadway version of Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Principal characters such as Marlin, Nemo and Dory will be represented by live performers operating larger-than-life puppets. Peripheral characters will be realized by a diverse array of puppetry styles, including rod, bunraku and shadow.

“It is our goal to bring the undersea ‘Nemo’ characters to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a live setting in a way that captures what is truly special about the film,” Rasulo continued. “This production will meet that challenge in a dynamic and wholly original way to bring us into the fantastical ocean world.”

The director for the new show, Peter Brosius, is artistic director of The Children’s Theatre Company of Minneapolis, winner of the 2003 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The Broadway “A Year With Frog and Toad,” nominated for the Best Musical Tony Award, originated at Children’s Theatre Company.

“Finding Nemo -- The Musical” is the first major musical produced for Walt Disney World Resort by Disney Creative Entertainment, which has received acclaim for its productions around the world, including “Disney’s Aladdin” (at Disneyland Resort in California), “The Lion King” (at Hong Kong Disneyland), “Twice Charmed” (on the Disney Cruise Line), and “The Golden Mickeys” (at Hong Kong Disneyland and on the Disney Cruise Line).

“It’s exciting to be involved in projects that introduce a new generation of future theatergoers to the work of internationally recognized creative talent through Broadway-caliber short-form shows that all audiences can appreciate,” said Anne Hamburger, executive vice president of Disney Creative Entertainment. “Millions of children experience live theater for the first time during a visit to a Disney park.”

“Finding Nemo -- The Musical” tells the story of a father clownfish, Marlin, and his son, Nemo, each on a separate journey that ultimately teaches them how to love and understand each other. The two have been separated – and Marlin will stop at nothing to get his son back, facing undersea challenges with his new friend Dory, who he has met along the way. Meanwhile, Nemo, relocated to a fish tank in Sydney, makes new friends who teach him that he’s stronger than he thinks. When news of his father’s heroic journey reaches the tank, Nemo is inspired to do whatever is necessary to escape the tank and see his father again.

“Finding Nemo -- The Musical” will be performed several times daily. Admission to Theater in the Wild is included with regular Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park admission. Guest information is available by calling 407-824-4321 or by visiting disneyworld.com.

There will not be a 5th park anytime in the next 10 years, so don't worry about that.

I do agree that the Finding Nemo musical sounds silly to me, especially for where it is. The Nemo fad has pretty much died out by now anyway...I think Disney would benefit more by bringing back one of the old films like Jungle Book (since someone already mentioned it)....Even Bambi would have more of a place in AK than Nemo. But maybe that's just me. Maybe I really don't want to see more Nemo at the parks...they're already ruining The Living Seas...but that's a whole other story. Oh well...

Disney is no time soon building a fifth park in FL, they believe they have exhausted their theme park market in the US and will only add to existing parks. They want to go more international like with the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland. They are curently trying to build a park in mainland China but the soonest that may happen would be 2010 if ever, I also heard they are looking in India. With that said if Disney did build a 5th park at WDW it would not be a Sea Animal park, they have AK where they can incorporate Sea "animals" if not a whole new section and they have the living seas at Epcot which they just renovated. IF they ever do a 5th park it will probably be a more of an action/thrill ride type park to compete with Universal's Islands of Adventure.

I totally agree that The jungle Book would fit in so much better, it has some of the best songs ever written and appeals to all ages, would make a fantastic show for all the family and the theming is sooo much more appropriate to AK

Personally, I would have loved to see the Jungle Book live show in place of Finding Nemo.

I think the 5th park should have a nostalgia theme to it, bring back all the great Dis rides and shows that have been retired.

I've discussed the "Disney's Classic Kingdom" idea many times, but in reality, it would only have limited appeal (only for "old folks", you know).

But its fun to talk about.

There is a reason all of those rides closed.

Horizons, World of Motion, Dreamflight etc. All closed becuase they never had a line or were not that pupular. It wouldn't make sense to build a park that is esentially full of the least popular attractions from around the resort.

The Jungle Book show was one of the original shows when AK first opened. It's featured on a planning video that I have from back in 2000 or something like that. Never saw it. I'm pretty sure it's what got replaced by Tarzan Rocks.

Jungle Book was there originally and it was a decent show (better than that Tarzan nightmare). Anyway, the theatre is out of the way. In fact, prior to the show, the orangutans from the show would go to Dinoland to snag visitors to see the show.

Now that EE is right there I don't think the theatre is so out of the way. And Nemo like it or not is more popular w/ the younger set than Jungle Book.

I don't see how Nemo doesn't fit in at DAK. Last time I checked fish were animals too. Maybe not that particularly spot but still...

I agree that the Jungle Book is a better fit for that spot, BUT I would not agree that the theming is "sooo much more" appropriate. If the central attraction of the park, a Bugs Life inside the The Tree of Life features bugs than I don't see why fish don't fit in? I am no science major, in fact I took a zoology class a couple of years ago and did horrible, but one thing I do know from taking Biology in high school is fish belong to the kingdom animalia so I don't see why fish don't belong in Disney's Kingdom Animalia. Does a Yeti fit in any better?
Now forget the theming, look at it from a marketing stand point, Disney just obtained Pixar so over the next few years we are going to see the Pixar gang (i.e. Nemo, Monsters Inc., the Incredibles, Toy Story) have a larger presence in the park and the popularity of Nemo compared to the Jungle book, well there is no comparison.

I disagree that AK is not the right place. However you look at it the oceans of our world house ton of sea creatures. Where better then AK. Bugs, mamual, bird, reptiles, plants and fish. It completes the order of Our Animal Kingdom World.

This park is awesome and a Nemo show would fit in great. It's time for a new show at AK and what better then Nemo.

Here's where it seems weird. Fish go in Aquariums and Animals in zoos. That's the public perception. You don't see fish in zoos all that much...at least not that I can remember. No matter how many "Nahtazu" ads they run, it still makes people expect a zoo feel. Nemo, therefore, seems out of place. Here's my idea, find a place relatively nearby to put a walk-through aquarium attraction of exotic fish, and "bam"...it all works!
