DH wanted to try Rose and Crown this trip, so I booked an ADR for the 3 of us. DH and I each had the steak and DD had the fish and chips.

The steak was amazing!! We live in farm country and are picky with our steaks, we were both surprised at the quality and flavor.

DH really liked the fish and chips, one of her favorite meals of the trip.

Glad you had a great experience! I haven't tried Rose & Crown yet because there are so many English style pub restaurants where I live. I usually opt for something different that I can't find here. However, I hear you when you find a great steak. Guessing it was a strip steak? I had a great one last Fall at Kona Cafe in the Poly and am going back this year just for the steak. And the banana creme brulee. :-) When you find a tasty steak, you definitely remember the place for your next trip. Fingers crossed mine is still as good and not just a one off.

I've tried almost every TS in the WS & R&C has been among my favorites from the first meal I had there. I really love their potato leak soup. The one thing in the past couple of years I was disappointed about was that they stopped their bread service. Can anyone confirm they still do not have bread service now? Their rolls were so good (especially w/that soup)! I've had the Cottage Pie & the Shepherd's pie as they changed their menu with this entree & do enjoy it as well. I plan to try the steak now that I've read this & either the cheese plate or the Scotch Egg since I booked R&C for the Candlelight package. Does anyone have recommendations for appetizers or desserts?

Thanks for this thread, OP! :thumbsup2

I always recommend it, especially the patio for Illuminations. I have had several meals there. Their menu about six years ago had a really good Banger's and Mash....then it disappeared and then re-emerged as a not nearly as good Bangers and Mash. Love the beer choices too. :tigger: Probably not one of the better desert menus but I don't eat desert anyway. And they do have the Steak with the Fish meal that is the best of both worlds.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding-mmmmmmm-worth the time just for that. Sometimes we will just do the soup, smoked salmon app and the pudding. I have never eaten there and not had the pudding so I will forgo most of the rest of the meal if I am not that hungry just to have the pudding. Yes, I love that pudding-LOL.

Thanks! We've been waffling on whether to do R&C next year. We haven't been there in a while, since we've been hitting Raglan Road on recent trips. Your review will certainly help us decide!

One reason I'm hesitant to get the Bangers & Mash is bc I've had it at Raglan Road & it was delicious! I'm afraid now I'm biased. But that steak from R&C is on my list so I'm looking forward to it now! :)

My daughter and I ate at the Rose and Crown on our trip a couple weeks ago and loved it too! I had the steak as well and loved it. I guess I am very American cause who knew that Yorkshire pudding is just a roll with mashed pototatoes in it! LOL It was good though.

R & C is a family favorite! We have started booking it for lunch and enjpy an afternoon respite there.

R&C is a must every trip. It has become a first night dinner tradition for us and I agree with the OP the steak is really good and we raise beef cows! I tried the Scottish egg for an app. last time and can't wait to have it again on our next trip in Feb. My husband and I really want to try new places to eat this trip but we both said that R&C had to stay on the list! If your lucky enough to get a seat by the water for Illuminations than it is a perfect Disney evening.

Happy to hear this! We have never been, but have booked it for Christmas dinner! Sticky toffee pudding drew me to that booking! So cosy looking, too. We are usually trying more exotic venues, but for Christmas, steak and Yorkshire pudding sound divine!
