New Fastpass Scam

My DBF is so stubborn and immovable and he never responds when someone gets angry with him. Now this annoys me ALOT when I am trying to argue with him but its great when people try to push past him in lines. He just puts me in front of him (to protect me  ) and then spreads himself out across the line. Hes not Pooh sized by any means (unlike me) but hes like a cat sticking its hair out, he fills that line. The cutters will get angry and try to squeeze past but they can't move him and he absolutely ignores them.

It always make me feel like cheering! :cheer2:

Also physically stopped someone trying to climb into a singles line once too they were NOT happy :rotfl2:

They are pretty strict on Soarin'. Last year, on my last day of my trip, Soarin' was already sold out of Fast Passes and had a 2 hour wait. I was talking to a CM and they told me they wouldn't let President of the United States on that ride without a Fastpass or standing in line with everyone else. This last trip, my baby was sleeping in her stroller, so my dh stayed outside with her (no strollers allowed in the building.) I went in with my ds5 and asked for a parent swap ticket. The CM wouldn't give me one because the baby wasn't with me. I had to explain we didn't want to wake her up and my husband was outside with her. She reluctantly gave me one. It is the only time I have been told that they had to see the baby in order to get the parent switch ticket.

Last week we were there with friends, and they DID require him to go outside and get the sleeping baby from the grandmother. He was IRRATE, and made a hugh stink about it, and several CM's backed up the original, saying no entry without producing the sleeping baby!

When our group of 8 had fastpasses for Soarin, my dh lost his and we felf so bad just about not having one of our tickets but they let us through. Dirty Rats!!

This is my first post ever. I have been lurking for about 3 years. I noticed this too on our trip 2 weeks ago. Two teens jumped over the rope into the fast past line in front of us on BTMR. I would have never thought about people doing that.

She does, however, understand and get upset when people think we are walking too slowly in line and push past us.
I am soo glad you mentioned this, I was in line with my son waiting for the teacups. The line wasn't very long, just one row of people with 2 or 3 empty zig zags. We reached the end of the line and my son (5 year old) was trying to fix his shoe and people passed by us in the line. We had previously been right to the end of the line and there wasn't that far to move up, certainly we were not the next ride or anything but sure enough the entire family behind us decided after previously waiting behind us they were now entitled to be in front of us because we didn't move up fast enough. I guess I could see it if they were getting on the ride and we were holding them up but all we were holding them up from was moving a little forward and waiting.

why would he do this? without producing said baby; anyone could just walk up and get a baby swap pass. kudos to the CM's for actually doing their jobs.

That was my thought too, John! My guess is that they were in the standby line, and conveniently jumped into the FP line after the checkpoint.

I saw about 5 people do this in January in Space Mountain and they got sent to the back of the line by the CM.

I probably would have offered an extremely recent photo of us standing outside next to said sleeping baby (me in same clothing, of course, perhaps with the time visible on someone's watch or cell phone in the preceeding picture). :)

We noticed on this trip that they have gotten very strict about baby swap. We even had cm's ask to see the whole party and wanted to know who was going to ride first and second. This was never an issue the last two years we used baby swap, especially since one person is allowed to ride twice but I guess someone figured out a way to abuse it.

I don't blame the CMs...I don't think any of us want WDW to be run like an Army base.
Granny,
I DO blame the CMs. The rules are the rules and must be obeyed because they are the rules. If you aren't going to enforce the rules, don't have them.

I get into the parks about 20 full days a year. I have never seen a party allowed through after not finding their FPs at the final check. I have seen plenty of people try to line jump, but each and every one of them has been sent back through the FP line (past me, tee-hee) to the stand-by line. I'm not saying that I don't believe what you (and others) saw. I'm just saying that I think most CMs enforce the rules and turn back FP-less people instead of letting them on the ride.

I had an unfortunate experience on my last night at Disney on my October trip last year. I got to ride Soarin for the first time our first day and really really wanted to go back and ride again bc I was a bit nervous the first time bc sometimes I can be nervous of heights. But I did love it so we got fastpasses at about 11:30am but the return time wasn't until 4pm. We were originally going to leave the park around 2 but decided we would go on some extra rides so we could get a fastpass. As 4pm rolled around we walked over to Soarin. My dbf had been the one holding the fastpasses for him and I. I decided to run to the bathroom real quick while he got the fastpasses out of his wallet. When I came out I could tell he looked mad :furious: ....he lost the fastpasses!! We looked everywhere we could think of but could not find them! I was so bummed bc it was our last park day. Part of me wanted to beg a CM to let us go on anyway. At that point it was a 2 hour wait and we were too tired for a wait like that. Even thought I wanted to beg...I never would. We left bc it was our fault we lost the tickets. I was not going to ask a CM to let us on bc I would know how mad I would be if I saw a CM let someone in FP line that didn't have their FP tickets. And to be honest if I was a CM ( which I once was for a short period, years ago) I would not let me past even if I was sympathetic. Of course we left feeling a bit saddened and disappointed but we just made the the decision we would ride it at least 5 times this year :) Any by the way, we've already decided I am the Fastpass keeper this trip. It's all in good hands :woohoo:

Unfortunatly the answer is to "grin and bear it" then explain to your children why that behavoir is wrong. Not what many of us would like to do, but do you really want to stand in WDW arguing with some ignorant mooron while your children watch. There is satisfaction in knowing these people have to live with the results of thier poor parenting, this kids are destined to be in trouble and mom and dad will surely find someone to blame it on. Sorry, you hit a nerve!! :furious:

Just a difference of opinion here but I don't think it is wrong for my children to see that you don't have to be someones carpet. Those that are wrong, are wrong. The fact that this society does not or dares not speak up when someone is ignoring rules and being inconsiderate of others is the reason it is becoming more and more common.

I don't react to everything and it usually has to be pretty blatent for me to say something but say it, I will. Not reacting teaches your children that you can break the rules without consequence. As far as CM's reacting, well to make it a Magical Place the rules of social behavior must be inforced. Without it the place is Magical only to those that are willing to push their way through it. Do I encourage confrontation? Believe me, if you knew me you would know that is on the very bottom of my want to do list. If these types of experiences only happened in theme parks that would be one thing but I extends out to the real world as well. I want my children to know that there is a limit to just how trampled they should allow themselves to be. If that means I stand up for my rights occasionally, well I'm afraid I see nothing wrong with that.

:confused3

I think that the FP system is ingenious- how they have one CM at the start of the line who checks the FP, and then another one at the end of the line who takes the FP.

I love it when idiots from the regular line think that they can hop into the FP line. It's so great when they get turned away when they can't produce their non-existant FP. And then, they have to go to the back of the line! (But I bet they try to go back to where they were in the regular line...)

We were at/near the end of the FP line for BTMR, and we saw a FP sitting on the floor. I don't know if we picked it up or not, but sure enough, two minutes later, a harried mother and her son came from the front of the line looking for it. I guess the CM would not let them on without it And then, the son was prepared to go back to the front, and mama said "No, we are going to wait in line- it's not fair that we go back to the front."

Someone ought to give that lady a medal or a free TS meal of her choice :)

I am from Puerto Rico and of course I speak spanish. It makes me really sad to read all these comments about people cutting in line and that they speak Spanish. I have seen people speaking French, Spanish, English cutting in line and I don’t blame the culture, I blame the way you were raised and the individual. And even in the same culture not everyone is raised the same way.

And no, cutting in line it’s not considered a sport for us.

Since Spanish is the most prevelent of the "other" languages heard around WDW, I believe that is the reason it was cited. It isn't the fact that the other language (whatever it is) is used in the parks it is the idea that everyone seems to be able to understand everything going on during the shows, etc., all staged in English but if someone tries to point out that they are doing something wrong...all of a sudden no one can speak English. It is getting old as an excuse and obviously creating a new stereotype. It really doesn't matter what "other" language is being used, I just don't see that large numbers of people that spend the money and time to go to an officially English speaking country are not somewhat versed in the language or are there with people that do. What would they do in the case of a personal emergency? It is creating really bad attitudes and opinions of other nationalities.

I'm pretty confident you would think different of this if you actually had a baby. I guess for those with babies, we'll just continue to have to sit on the benches and watch the fun like a tv show. Or maybe they should just stay home?

BTW, what is the POINT then, of being issues the "Fast Pass Keycard" for the day, if you are not allowed to use it, for the day?

I was at work the other day and a young man said, "Don't wait in line, just get a wheelchair...you don't need proof. It's too hot to walk around that park. Why not everyone does it...."
MY Jaw Dropped! As a nurse I always feel for anyone in a wheelchair, it's a struggle, and I can't believe there is not a more monitored attempt to such a scam? I don't know-never had to rent one. Can't believe some people. Even some rent from outside sources and still get on rides (he says) Just let 'em be wrong, their karma will come! I feel for those who have to wait because of any scammers like this guy who, no matter how many or what words I said to him, couldn't understand the wrong.

I know the trick: "no hablo ingles" And i still believe that culture or language it's not the problem but the individual. Not every time you hear someone speaking spanish means that he/she is a line cutter because this happens with people from all over the world.

It's not wrong to say that someone cut in line with the trick that they don't speak english because this happens, but i do think it's rude to say that cutting in line it's a sport for us.

And maybe people that don't speak english do spend a lot of money on a Disney vacation because you can go to Guest Relations and obtain a Personal Translator Unit. IF they have an emergency they can go to a CM that speaks their language or maybe they do the same as people visiting 5 stars hotels in the Dominican Republic or Mexico (spanish speaking countries) when they don't speak spanish.

I was turned away from K Safari this trip because I had not been given the right GAC. It was my fault for not making myself understood when I took my slip in and I understood completely. (I got the right one later, it is my lungs NOT my legs) :wave2:

Anyhow, on this trip I have an extremely "helpful' person give me instructions on how to override the FP system and get all the FP's I wanted. I will not repeat the instructions here because I would not do it nor would I want to encourage anyone else to do such a thing. I love the FP system and use it often when I am doing better and would not want to do any thing to make the powers that be rethink the system. (I also only use my handicap sticker when I truly need it and take spots a bit further way as I am usually just moderately disabled)
