I'm not sure how anyone could plan around that??

- Bus leaves at 1020
- Get there by 1010
- 7 minute walk from Space Mountain, so exit SM at 1003
- SM ride 4 minutes long
- Get on SM rocket at 0959

Get my point?? If you plan too much buffer you're right back where you started... waiting 20 minutes for a bus.

MG
Not sure what you mean. It's the difference between knowing that the bus leaves at 10:20 or having no idea and possibly missing a bus by seconds. And we have DEFINITEY had the experience with regular bus service at WDW being WAY MORE than the supposed 20min. If this is reliably coming every X minutes, that's a major improvement in my book.

Every 30 I believe.

My point was referring to an earlier post stating you could plan around the departure time.

Ok... you CAN plan around the departure time, and have some certainty around not wasting your time waiting for a bus.

If you know how long it takes to get from point A to point B in WDW, you can certainly save waiting time.

Okay. I don't understand how, but perhaps you're better at it than I am.

I don't know how anyone could not plan around the schedule. If they didn't, that would be on the user. We rode the Express Bus a lot last month. It was super easy to know when to be at a bus stop and you didn't waste any time. If I did, it was our fault for not using the service to it's advantage.

I think I understand what you are saying.

I don't see a great deal of value in the fixed schedule either but I see some benefits.

Maybe scheduling a show that ends just prior to the scheduled bus departure will work but for the rest, the planning will have many variations. We always manage to "throw away time" when going to a restaurant reservation but at least there is some flex there.

If we get off of a ride and only have 20 minutes before the next express bus departs, we are not likely to fit anything else into the schedule and will end up waiting. The waiting could entail some shopping or looking around the park (e.g. trails in Africa at the AK) which would all be better than standing or sitting in line at the bus terminal outside of the park.

I'm glad it worked for you. I'm still confused how one could plan around the time. I could see something like swinging in a close by gift shop to kill 10 minutes, but that opens another can of worms... as in trying to get my wife out in 10 minutes.

But the point is you know. All doubt as to what time a bus will leave is removed. You know what time to go. You are then free to do what you want before departure. With buses out front, you are clueless. You go and you wait and you haven't a clue how long you are waiting. It's vastly different. Knowing the schedule is the #1 reason we love the service. Skipping the gates is a close 2nd but schedule is more a value to us

So I am feeling that on average it is going to save you about 20-25 minutes per hop? I guess that is worth the money if you are hopping multiple times a day, or it is just you. For a larger group or a shorter stay where Dad has to pay that bill, it doesn't seem worth it to me.

I am glad you like it. Personally we don't hop so it's a non issue. We also always drive to the park. Getting back to ones car makes it a bit of a cluster.

Well yeah, it's obviously not of any use to someone who doesn't hop. You can't even buy it without hoppers or AP

Or one could sit for 10 min. Who couldn't use 10 min off their feet while at Disney?
They could use seating areas near some of the check-in locations. For instance, there is a place to sit at EPCOT, but I don't believe there is anywhere at AK, within close vicinity, where you can watch the CM start to escort guests back for the departures.

Yes there are. There are numerous tables over by the kiosk that sells fruit

HS has benches too.

MK may not have benches but there is a planter wall you can sit on nearby.

Really though, we did our timing fine and never really had to stand around at any of them. Not more than a few minutes.

That's exactly what we did 2 weeks ago. We were in AK and had 15 min til the MK bus was ready to leave. We grabbed some fruit at the nearby stand and watched the African Dancers. We got a rest, had a snack, and were entertained all while waiting for our express bus to the next park.

Good point. Since you know the time there is no need to watch for anything. You can walk over anywhere in the area to sit and walk back when your time comes. As long as you get there before the bus leaves they will walk you back. It doesn't have to be done in 1 group.

For those who have used this, do they really run like clockwork? Do they give you any sort of schedule to hang onto?
We did this before the schedules were posted here. Used it for 4 parks in 1 day and when we arrived at a park we just asked the timing for the next park (so when we got to Epcot we asked when it went to HS and they told us 00/30 or whatever). That was more than enough for us for our planning purposes. And yes, each bus we were on (4 during the day) left exactly when they said it would.

My point was not planning way in advance for it but knowing when to get there. So when we were done at HS and it was 20 minutes until we had to be there for the bus, we knew we had time to hit the restroom and grab a coffee at Starbucks. At AK we were doing the trail near there and could factor in how long to look at animals/how quickly to walk. I like the certainty much more than random timing that never seems to work in your favor.

This makes much more sense.
Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Agree. We are doing in March for 7 days but if it was summer, I doubt we would purchase it because even though we hop, we tend to go back to the hotel pool during the day. So we would be using basic free transportation anyway.

I am intrigued by this service. Thank you for all the good information. I haven't read the entire thread, but a question comes to mind: How will arriving at a park with a capacity closure work with this service? Do you think they will give priority entrance to these people?
