Was a guinea pig this weekend for the new Express Order app Disney is trying out at DHS. They are using it for the Backlot Express and Fantasmic. It did not work for us, the app kept freezing up and not responding. After about 20 minutes of messing with it, I went to the Express Order rep and asked for help. Disney was great. Said there are still bugs, thanked up for trying and gave us our lunch for free. Has anyone else had better luck? I think its a great idea if they can get it to work.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. I think it's a good idea too if they can work out all the problems.

It was nice of them to give you lunch on them for your troubles.:goodvibes

We got the email today offering us to be guinea pigs his weekend. I figure we'll try it - since I'm usually the one standing in the loooooong line at Fantasmic waiting for that blessed soda and popcorn it sounds great to me!

We got email and going to try it at Backlot, why not, we go often enough it won't ruin our day if it glitches but I'm not going to do it at Fantasmic. That is more likely to glitch, have heard complaints of the order never showing up anywhere but the credit card bill AND there is a service charge. If I'm only getting a coke and popcorn, I'm not paying an extra $3. We'll grab something before we head in.

I'm going to try it this weekend. Backlot express is a family favorite for quick service at DHS so this will be great to try out. At first glance it seems easy to use and having the ability to sit down at a table with the family without standing in line sounds like a dream.

I'm not seeing any info about a service charge in the email I received or while looking through the Express Order app at home. I don't think there will ever be a service charge for quick service dining at WDW.

On the app there is a line item for a delivery charge. It has been reported charged at Fantasmic, $3. Touring Plans posted a comprehensive step by step photo review of their experience. Their $5 pretzel became an $8 pretzel at Fantasmic. (Photo Credit: Touring Plans) Review shows the line item at Backlot, then it disappears and says "Pickup" when they placed their order. I don't know what would have happened if they opted for table delivery. No one has reported it being charged at Backlot yet that I have seen but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Just popping in w/our experience. We used the app at Fantasmic tonight and it worked...pretty good. Took us nearly 20 min to get our stuff (sodas, waters & popcorn) and the CM said they were having some technical difficulties. The app itself ran nice and smooth (once I remembered to turn my bluetooth on). There was no service fee mentioned. Once our order was on it's was it had our "Server Number" in big bold numbers - "10". I just kept my eye out for the runner w/a 10 on her shirt (they wear bright red shirts w/the number in black on the front). I could see her looking around, and waved and she trotted right over. Was super sweet and handed off our stuff. All in all, I thought it was great. The lines were loooong and it probably would have taken me 20 min in line myself anyway.

Great opportunity for time saving at CS places, but this will help Disney cut jobs.

We used this app during Fantasmic on Wednesday May 13th and it worked without a hitch ! We ordered 2 Bud Light and received it in under 5 minutes. No issues with app or payment and we didn't have a delivery fee.
We enjoyed it !

I actually have to wonder about this. :confused3 Seems to me like it will create jobs. They'll still need just as many (or cose to) people working the registers, but will now also need to employ runners as well. At least at Fantasmic.

Maybe so. Hopefully so. We did this at BOG in Feburary during our 2nd visit there with that trip. Saved so much time verses our visit a few days earlier. I liked it. I really did. Maybe just maybe, it could be a win win for both Disney and the guest!
