Alice is KAC'smom here on the DIS. I have no idea why my post disappeared about her. I've spent two different summer vacations with her, including her first at the Dolphin where we shared a suite. Your guess is as good as mine.

Okay, who is Alice and why are we to not speak of her?

I read somewhere, don't recall where, that in order to book one of the themed Presidential Suites they run a credit check on the guest wanting to stay there. Can anyone confirm that?

I guess they want their expenses covered if you invite the Red Hot Chili Peppers over and they decide to give the grand piano the old heave-ho out the window! :rotfl: ;)

:rotfl2: I'm sure I'd pass a credit check without a problem. Yeah, you never know what those celebs will do. Although I'm sure they have the finances to cover the damage - the question is would they pay it? At BWI I was told by a reliable source that John Stamos had not kept the Steeplechase Suite as tidy as he should've. Shame, shame! :sad2: I should call and ask some questions....just thought somebody has bound to have stayed in one. We have others that have stayed in the Pres suites at other resorts that frequent the boards. These seem to be locked up secrets or something. :tiptoe:

Alice is an outlaw. She is wanted by various divisions of Disney - most notably transportation. :teeth:

Sugar3 at the Dolphin - :teeth:
Can I create an Easter Basket with goodies from there ?

We have not been at the Dolphin since 2002.
We can not wait to get back to WDW :car:

I haven't been in there since they changed names, but you could easily create an Easter basket between the delicious items there and the Disney themed store just off the lobby.

Thank You #1HockeyMom - Best of luck to your family with the Hockey season (I assume a winter sport) ;)

Thanks for the well wishes, unfortunately football killed my son's hockey season this year. He broke his arm in four places being tackled when he had the ball in a kick off/return during a game. Ironically, he was supposed to be playing in a hockey game at the same time! We're hoping to get him skating by the end of December, and back to playing sometime in January if all goes well. Currently, he's going stir crazy in a shoulder to hand cast.

Here I am!! It's me, Alice - the Disney transportation rebel, GF balcony flasher and Deb's best friend! ;) I rarely post anymore, so I'm kinda on the down-low, lol.

Debbie- on which side of the resort did we stay in 2005? East or West wing? I've been reading some of the "mold" posts about the East wing, and wondered if that was where we were? I noticed a slight moldy smell in the a/c during our stay, but the kids didn't, and it did not make my asthma act up so I didn't worry about it. After reading another thread, I started to wonder which wing we were in - I know we faced the Swan, but I don't know what direction that is, lol.

Blondie - I, too, love your clipart. I'm always glad to stumble on your posts, so that I can see what you've added for that day!

What is your take on the mold issue? I enjoyed my first stay in the Dolphin, but as I mentioned, I have asthma and any mention of a mold problem makes me nervous. When I read of posters who have previously had no problems, but now are having issues, I have to wonder. On the other hand, many people say they smell mold at the Poly, but I never have, so there you go.

:sunny:

Here's my two-cents worth on mold. Since 2004 have have enjoyed 3 stays at the Dolphin - each time in a different wing - and never had any concerns with mold. We also stayed at the Swan in 2005 with no mold issues. We've had balcony rooms and non-balcony rooms and there has been no difference. Both my son and I are allergic to mold but neither of us had any reaction.

I certainly hope if there is a mold problem they take care of it. ::yes:: DS and I both have allergies, too.

Hey, Alice! Party at the Dolphin might be in the works. :hyper: I'm looking at this suite. Are you interested? I'm sure Debbie and the rest of the gang would be game.

I'm looking into buying DVC and I have quite bit of vacation time next year (too bad DH doesn't  ). I was looking at splitting a stay - Dolphin/Villa/GF RPC. :cloud9:

Now if join us, you'll have to be on your best behavior. You know what happened last time. I still got dirty looks from the transportation folks back in October. It seems I'm guilty by association and the memory is still fresh in their minds. :joker:

I've not had time to call to get details on the Dolphin suite since I'm preparing for my test tomorrow (there is only so much corporate finance stuff I can stare at it - KWIM?!), but I surely plan to give them a buzz in the next few days if no one can provide some additional details here. I'm rather shocked no one has stayed in one. I can't seem to find any other pictures other than the web site either. ~sigh~ They can't be any worse price wise than Disney resorts is what I was thinking.

In all honesty, we were in the "middle"!

Oh, thanks! Shows how much I know, huh? ;)

Gail - thank you for your response. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about, I know these things come up from time to time for most of the resorts. Just thought I'd ask the experts!

I want to reiterate that I really enjoyed my stay at the Dolphin, it was convenient to Epcot and MGM, the room was lovely, beds comfy and the Fountain food was so tasty we ate there several times.

Bonnie - sounds like a blast, count me in!

Hi all - I'm going to try for a jr. suite at the dolphin for mid-January and wondered if the experts could tell me where they are located - do they have balconies? And should I try to get two rooms then ask for a Jr. Suite upgrade or just go for the Jr. Suite. What's the cost of them? I've seen the movie and the layout - just needing some additional info.

thanks in advance. Ely

Well, I just called and spoke to "Kayla" in reservations who told me the 1 story 1 bedroom presidential suite starts at $2,450.00 per night.

A larger version (I didn't ask for specifics) starts at $2,950.00 per night.

So there you have it! :sunny:

Yeah, that's about just a tad bit more than what I paid for the Newport Suite and the Royal Asante suite.

Thanks for checking for me, Blondie! :goodvibes I was going to call after my test today....promise! :teeth:

Did they mention a background check? :rotfl2:

30 more minutes to test time. :scared:

I didn't ask about a background check, but she said something about promising your first born child...... :p

A view from our Dolphin room this past weekend right across to the Swan. Clamshells could use some cleaning, but it is a room we always request...as you can see, a favorite of ours. Just noticed my fingers in the image shot taken from inside the room...

Don't you love those Friendship boats- so lovely and convenient

Just love looking up- we stay just above the top clamshell on the 11th floor- what a spectacular view of both Epcot and MGM.

Truly had a most wonderful long Veteran's Day weekend. Caroline

Welcome back Caroline! Your pictures say it all! What a great view! :sunny:

Thanks for posting your photos Caroline, that is a neat view! The weather looked beautiful! How were the crowds at the parks?

Did the resort seemed booked up?

Hi Blondie- the resort was, indeed, packed! There were a few conventions that we could see - but the noise level was almost non-existent. No signs of Christmas in either the Swan or Dolphin yet. One of the Dolphin employees mentioned that they might take down the new ceiling coverings in the central lobby - the effect was not what they had in mind. How true that is, we have no idea.
Some signs of Christmas were evident in each park - trees, bouquets, wreaths etc... but MGM had the Osbourne Lights ready to go on tonight.

Thanks Muffy, it is always wonderful to have some together time in a place we both love - comes midway between our birthdays each Nov. Glad you enjoyed the pictures.

We had a great lunch at Le Cellier with Disbug - what a nice treat to see her!

Catch you all soon. Caroline
