So I heard the new lighted pillars (where the fountain of Nations used to be) don't change color anymore? All I heard was Craig said in one of The Dis videos that it was done for "safety reasons". Does anyone know what those were? Was Disney afraid the changing light was going to cause people to trip or get dizzy while walking in the area?

Oh that is sad to hear! I loved the whole effect of everything changing colors at the same time. Perhaps it was making the walkways too dark for people to move around safely, in the same way that they tell people not to walk around when they turn the lights low for fireworks shows.

No idea if this is the case, but something about the design with the lighting did make it really hard for my parents to navigate that area at night, although I think that was more the ground lighting. They kept seeing steps/elevation changes where there weren't any. I didn't have any issues with it, but it was interesting that both my parents were having issues with it at night.
