New Epcot member lounge

We are going to be staying at WDW this June. I am looking forward to anyone's reports here when this opens.

Putting on Cranky, Cynical Pants...
Eventually the space will turn into a walk-through of the brand new villas you can purchase direct...

I guess that if the lounge is going to stick around, DVD should see a value in it. It can be just a perk for the sales, but I wouldn't mind a sale presence there too, if they're not too invasive.

"Enjoy your potential 'new home' while taking a rest in beautiful Epcot. DVC guides will be available to answer questions while you enjoy complimentary refreshments from the custom and comfortable furnishings found in XYZ villas." (I'm secretly hoping DVC Mike creates one of his stellar mock-ups of this. He's so good at that. I totally had my husband buying into his StarWars villas! hehehe!)

Putting on sunshine and flowers chapeau...
For right now, I'm really looking forward to trying out the new lounge. I like finding places to relax and "chill" out. My husband has a whole portfolio of "benches that my wife has found" when we travel. It's pretty funny... based onthe pictures, you'd think I only walk just to find another place to rest. Okay, that is pretty accurate these days.... heh.
You just gave away DVC Mikes april 1st joke. Now he has to rewrite. Cant wait Mike.

This actually makes sense, especially having closed some of the other preview centers. I can't see them operating and staffing a member lounge in that space for very long without it serving some other marketable purpose. If they don't convert it to something else, my guess is that the lounge will only last just past new years and then it'll go away. It's just something they're doing as a 25th anniversary special perk to show off the awesome (very temporary) benefits to potential new buyers.

Would've been nice if the new lounge had been open for my birthday trip in February.

Now we're going for April fools and I'll see if it's open then.

I like being a loungelizard.

My husband and I went to Epcots food and wine festival 2 years ago and Chase had a lounge for their credit card members. If this lounge is anything like that one it will be really nice. The seating was real comfortable and they had the free soda machines. Being able to charge our phones and sit in air conditioning was wonderful.

The Member Lounge will offer that and more:
Make yourself at home in the Member Lounge that features:
  • Comfortable seating
  • Complimentary soft drinks
  • Wi-Fi
  • Charging stations
  • Computers with printers
  • Member Services Advisors

If they put a DVC sales center in the lounge, it would eliminate the DVC exclusivity, therefore making it not a DVC lounge. I think they have enough booths for sales...

Not for the 25th anniversary perk, but NEXT year it'll convert to a preview center. That'd be my guess.

it won't shock me if something else comes along that Disney determines is a better use for that space.

I get what you are saying, but I hope not... There is SO MUCH dead space at EPCOT right now that they could (and should) fill before taking the space back. Top of my list would be the old Body Pavilion, The unused restaurant between Future and world showcase, etc.

We leave tomorrow for FL. Anybody heard any whisperings about opening or maybe soft openings?

Was at Epcot this past Friday and no sign of work going on as we past through the gift shop on the level below.

Member services advisors is an interesting twist, I guess that members can make and modify reservations while there?

That's because it's finished. The opening has just been delayed (from what we were told by folks a the Figment GS.).
