New Epcot Int’l Gateway / Skyliner Resort Bus Route During Skyliner Downtime

Interesting ! I wonder if there will be notices on MDE, signboards inside Epcot, etc. to let guests know that the Skyliner is down, so they can go to the appropriate place.

Yeah, that has been sorely needed, IMHO. Depending on the circumstances of weather, stoppages, etc, one can really find themselves in a bind of what to do in certain situations.

Hopefully at least this backstage pickup spot will be better than diverting people to BWI and the ensuing confusion that often brought.

A real-time Skyliner status in the app would be very helpful.

It they use the same type signage as when they tested the "in park" to another park via the "in park" express shuttles it may not be of much help.

They have enough trouble showing the resort bus schedules in real time within the MDE app, I don't hold much hope in the near term but yes it would be very helpful to have a Disney Skyliner "realtime" status vs all the numerous buses to keep track of vs the resort buses.

This is the solution that should have been implemented since Day 1 of Skyliner ops- but for goodness sakes I hope the article is not accurate and that aren’t actually telling everyone inside the parks to hoof it to the front of EP. At least plop a sign down in the international gateway area inside the park that bus transport is available from that location…

IF the article is accurate then no. It says only guests outside of the park at international gateway have that transport option and that preferred transport is still the front of the park.

I look forward to seeing some first hand reports of how it’s actually operating! A Skyliner resort would be more appealing to me with reliable transport from the Skyliner IG station when it’s down.

The bus would presumably also be used to transport guests from the skyliner resorts TO Epcot. The bus stop would have to be outside the park, specifically before security

But how do guests inside Epcot know that the Skyliner is down?

CMs put sandwich board signs up directing guests to get buses at one of the Crescent Lake resorts, usually BWI but I’ve also seen Skyliner guests directed to BC. I have to imagine the article is incorrect and they’ll continue to do this.

I am with @gottalovepluto on this, seeing what happens when the Skyliner is down took those resorts completely off the table for me. And I’ve seen it pretty much every time I’ve been to Epcot since it first launched. I wanted to hop to MK on 7/3 to catch the fireworks last year, and since I was in World Showcase I figured I would just walk to BC to catch a bus. Except the Skyliner was down and guests were being directed there. The BC bus stop was packed and I ended up just taking a Lyft to the TTC. The absolute worst was when it was down all night during a very busy Food & Wine weekend and masses of angry, confused guests were milling around the IG after fireworks. I ended up walking a family staying at AoA over to BWI and was very thankful I had a 5 min walk back to my room at BC. I really hope this new solution works because it will make things better on everyone.

Doesn't look like a huge help IMO.

It will save some steps in not having to walk to Beach Club Bus Depot, but until the notification and instruction process moves from Sandwich Boards and word of mouth to real time Skyliner info and instruction on MDE,Guests will still have to walk all the way to the IG to find out if Skyliner is running or not and will still be confused about what to do and where to go.

Sandwich Boards are so archaic in providing Skyliner info.

Where was this sandwich board? Inside Epcot or outside?

It was at the IG Skyliner Station.

They also put one by the Bridge between UK and France.

The last one I saw there directed Guests to the Epcot Bus Depot only.

I would be happy if MDE would send a notification that the Skyliner was down, AND Disney would establish one, permanent transportation solution so guests would know exactly what to do when they receive the notification. I find it extremely inconvenient to walk to IG only to be directed back to the front of the park to get on a bus. I love the Skyliner, but it’s a pain if you visit during the summer.

I would be livid if I was paying the high cash price at Riviera and had to deal with this. It’s one reason I have not tried that resort yet.
