Happy Halloween, Everyone!

It's always kind of my inclination to want to stay at a Disney resort that isn't "like home" (so in my case, CSR has limited appeal). The rest of our family will meet us at WDW, and they all live in New England-- also, DH grew up there. I've been mulling around either YC or BC for our trip, but maybe GF, WL, or Poly would be more of an "adventure" for the New England contingent?

Your opinions, please? (and thank you!)

I am from Cape Cod and stayed at the B.C. last November. It is a resort with New England qualities, but not like home. My home does not have a pool like storm along bay, and at my house I can not walk to Epcot, at my house there are 3 dogs and 1 cat...Not so at the B.C. At my home the telephone rings non stop and people feel the need to stop by at dinner time, bath time, and bed time...Not so at the B.C.
I say if it has the Disney name it is a sure bet. Anything is more relaxing than home. With that being said. We did like the huge pool at the B.C. and you could walk to Epcot or take the ferry to MGM. If you think that you will be spending a lot of time at those 2 then definately the B.C. If you think that you will be speding a lot of time at the M.K. and would like the convenience of the monorail then I say the Poly...It will be great no matter where you stay. Have Fun!!!

Being from New England, and a person who spends time on the Cape as well as the beaches of Maine, we absolutely love the EPCOT resort area. There is something for everyone of all ages, to do. And don't forget you have SAB (the best pool in WDW) as my daughter would say. Also you can always visit the Poly and WL. Oh.....yeah they have Palm trees ::yes:: Just my $.02

I agree with confal1. I also live on Cape Cod and my absolute favorite resort is the Boardwalk. I also really love the Beach Club. (we are DVC members and own at both of these) I have also stayed at the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge and both of those are wonderful. But nothing compares to my Epcot area resorts :p

What an interesting question! We are from New York but spend a lot of time in New England. BC is lovely, but we really didn't feel "the theme" the way we do at other resorts. There was too much familiarity with what we know. One of the things that we like most about WDW hotels is that we feel transported...and that just didn't happen at BC. Of course, having said that, there is a lot to love at BC and we had a wonderful time!

The resort that reminds me the most of New England is WL. And that reminds me of Maine! I was lucky enough to stay at the BWV and BCV last week and they don't remind me of Cape Cod, but of what I imagine Atlantic City was like in the 20's and 30's. Even the Yacht Club lobby doesn't feel that much like the "Breakers" in Newport, nor does it have that awesome Cliff Walk.

I really was surprised at how much I liked Boardwalk--always thought it would be too noisy. Boy was I wrong. I'd stay there again, but teen DS loved Stormalong Bay just as much as I feared he would. LOL

No where in New England do you find palm trees
I don't feel at all like I'm at home when staying at BC or BW. I really enjoyed both of these resorts and I am going back to BW in March.
WL I feel like I'm in Yellowstone, not Maine

What a great question! I'm from NH and stayed at the BC last year. Yes, I did feel it was too much like home, and plan on trying other resorts next time.

My husband and I grew up in MA. The YC was our first resort as a family and we loved it! Of course, we had both been away for almost 10 years by then so maybe the fact that 'reminded us of home' is what we liked about it?!

The YC remains our favorite to this day as well as the Epcot area.

I think you would have to ask your family how they feel about staying someplace like home or going somewhere more "adventurous". In that case, go with the Poly!

I also think the BC is a little too much like home. We live in South Portland, Maine so I feel the theme is lost on us. Don't get me wrong, the BC and YC are GORGIOUS, however, when choosing a resort we like to stay somewhere that feels completely different like POR, AKL, or WL.
:earsboy:

I live in New Hampshire and have vacationed in other areas in MA and ME. There are similarities but they are not so blatant that I don't feel like I am away from home. Besides like others have said "palm trees", none up here!

Plus you are at Disney and within walking distance of Epcot & MGM. I have stayed at BC, YC and BWI and would recommend any of them.

Have fun on your trip where ever you decide to stay.:)

I have debated the same thing!
I undesrtand EXACTLY what you mean!
We LOVE WL and Poly is beautiful i don't think you could go wrong either way! GF isn't my style though ;)
i wanted to stay at the Boardwalk - but the more I lok at pics the more I think we might go back to WL!

We have a summer home on the coast of Maine and our favorite resorts are the EPCOT resorts. I guess you can never get enough of a good thing.

Being from Maine and now living in MA, I love the Beach Club. I don't feel like it's too much like "home" at all. However, my stepmother-in-law is choosing the WL for her trip over the Epcot resorts because she's originally from NJ and feels they are too familiar for her taste.

I am living back in NY again, but did live in New Englad for 5 years, I gotta say, no where in New England do you look out your window, or sit on your baclcony and see a hundred palm trees... or have a beach with beautiful plam trees, and signs that say no swimming (because of alligators...)
The theming of the Y& Beach id New England to a point, but too a small point in my opinion. The Epcot resort area is my absolute favorite, but I in no way am reminiscent of home when I am there....

I cannot wait, only 21 more days til I am back at my favorite palce on Earth!!!!!!!! WDW...and the Yacht Club!!!!!!!! :)

Laura :)

I grew up in New England and now live in Washington State so the YC, BC, and WL appeal to me less than does the AKL. All the resorts are nice but when I vacation, I do want something different. This time around I'm opting for the Swan mainly based on price (AAA discount with some SPG points to spend). Another deluxe I may try is the Polynesian though I live only a 5 hour plane ride away from Hawaii and head over there at least once a year. But transport me to the tropics anytime. :D

Another Cape Codder here ( did not know there were so many of us here on the boards!!!) that LOVES the Epcot area resorts. The style may be similar to our architecture but for me that is where the similarity ends. There are not many resorts here that offer the level of amenities that the BW/YC/BC offer and if they do offer similar, their room rates are even more than WDW resorts!! And none of them have palm trees, theme parks,Friendship boats or the Flying Fish!! We love the area so much that we bought DVC points at the Boardwalk!!

Yes - I have bypassed these resorts for the fear they will be "less exotic" than the other resorts. I know all resorts have the palm trees, but living in MA my whole life, I want the whole resort to be tropical. So, we love the POLY!

This upcoming trip we are trying AKL for similar reasons! There are no giraffes roaming around up here on the North Shore!

And since we vacation each summer in Maine, on a lake - the WL has never drawn me in either!

BUt as you can see from the responses - everyone's different!

Being from CT, that is one of the main reasons why we love CSR so much. We love that Mexican/sw American theme.
