I sure hope someone here has studied up on the new fangled picture frames. I want to get some as gifts (we're just back from an entire family vacation and I have tons of pictures)..but I dread the studying of the reviews. So..has anyone bought one, and which one and why?

I just bought one for my parents.
Pandigital 8"

The resolution was pretty good, the remote, and the timer for when it comes on and when it goes off, are all things I liked.
It is on sale at Staples this week for $129.99

I am getting it today and plan on putting some pictures on it for them for when they open it up. I will try and report back on how good it is.

The Pandigital and Philips (9FF2M4)seems to be up on the top of the reviews I did look at. I was just at staples site..but I can't tell if the 8" is the DPF-80-2..does it say on your box? Also, does that also use batteries, if wanted?

Thanks for posting.

I just got a Kodak for my birthday and love it so much I bought one for my parents for Christmas. I am going to load up a 2GB card for them with 2 folders, one from the trip we took to WDW last April and one with some of the pictures I took for my sister's wedding. This is going to be a task because I took almost 1800 pics at WDW and just over 2100 for my sister and between the two there are just over 17 GB of very large images :rotfl2:

I like the Phillips as well.

The one I just got for my folks is PAN80-2. I opened it up to see how it looked. I put one pic on there and it looked great. If it was not so close to Christmas I would order another one for me :) (but I am saving up for an SB-800 and a 24-120 Nikor after Christmas and before little one is born ;) )

I'm so glad someone started this thread! I'm wanting to give one as a gift, and I've read so many reviews my eyes are crossed! So far, the best ones I've seen in the "flesh" are the My Life frames at Brookstone, but they seem a little more pricey than most. I'd welcome any suggestions.

Use something like Irfanview to do a batch resize. There is no reason to exceed the resolution of the frame if that is the only place they will be viewed. Just be sure to not overwrite your existing files. By default, the option should be set to protect the originals though, so you almost have to go out of your way to mess them up.

Well, I took the advice of Furgus (and others on other boards) and got the 8" pandigital (BJ's had the 11", but it just wasn't worth the extra money..it was awfully big too).

The pictures look great great great on this. It comes with extra's (alarm, clock, etc) but we didn't try them. The reviews were very good, and I think my girls (adults) will love them.

With the 12% off they came to $124 with tax.

Thanks so much. It was very helpful to see different brands side by side at both BJ's and Staples. I wanted to get three, but the Staples in our area were out, except for the two I got. Prob just as well. The way my husband choked up when I said I wanted three..I suspect someone already got me one in the family. It would be pretty funny, if we all got them for each other.
