So because I'm feeling way too lazy this morning to even try to figure this out myself, which is the better deal. The AP 30% discount or the DVC membership discount? This is assuming he will golf maybe only 2-3 times in a given year on the DVC membership.
Ignoring that you have to pay for the DVC membership card, the discounts for DVC will be better than the 30% AP except for playing Palm or LBV (the lowest regular priced courses of the four) in the prime Jan through April season, where, under current prices, the AP discount will be about $3 better ($106 a round with AP discount). If you play only 2 to 3 rounds a year (and only one person playing), it will be a close issue as to whether the difference in discounts makes up for the cost of the DVC card. If in prime season, likely not and stick with AP, if in summer or fall season, likely will if courses chosen are Osprey or Magnolia and you play three times, but much closer issue if only two.
