Any word yet on what will replace F&F? I'm dying to know...we have add-on-itis already!

I don't see them giving a better deal than the one ending today. If you wanted to add on, you might want to grab the friends and family deal before it is gone. This current deal is the best in a while. If not, you might have to wait quite a while for another comparible deal.

How often do they have promotions like this? New to this board, and just wondering if I don't do it today, do they have them every quarter, at holidays??? Just wondering

minniemoms,
they haven't had a promotion this good in a while. It is a substantial savings with the referral. I don't see something this good happening for some time, but you never know.If you are interested and need a referral, here is my information

Roger Fournier
Pepperell, MA.

It's hard to remember a time when they didn't have some type of incentive. I'm sure there will be another one announced soon.

Best wishes -

Late '04 SSR was $85. per pt...I dont remember if there was an incentive.
By May the price hike was $95. In Summer it was $98. with an $8. discount...so $90. per pt.
Then in fall....this "Best Deal Yet" $83.30 per pt.

No...there is no rhyme or reason. Im guessing this was done to fill up the next units being built.
Im also guessing it will go back to $98...hopefully with at least an $8. discount for more "newbies". The resort should be finished, Im hearing, by '07.

TX, Seneca.

We have plenty of SSR points...to cure our add-on-itis we're just looking for the right resale contract at VWL, BWV, or possibly OKW

I bought pre-construction at SSR at $79. The current incentive (F&F) was WAY BETTER, since the contract I bought came with no current points, equivalent to buying a stripped resale contract.

I just spoke to our guide about finalization of our paperwork (we bought during F&F). He said the current price is the $98 per point with a SSR discount of $8 per point for a total of $90 per point. Also, I asked him about doing an add-on and he said unless we bought 100 points or more, it would be the $98 per point to do an add on (if we bought more than 100, it would be $90 per point). Is that right?

Lastly, he said there would be a price increase at the end of March.

Does all of this sound in-line with what everyone is hearing? I don't doubt his honesty, but I just want to be able to feel that much better about buying when we did (which I had to force DW into). :cool1:

we bought on Saturday and our guide told us it would be going up to 101 or 102 per in March.Greg

My guide said that it'll be $102/point on March 15th... and no discounts.

I'm glad I got in on the deal!

Who is the heck would buy into SSR at that price?! Not me, that's for sure! I guess unless they have another great incentive/promotion, we'll have to stick with going to Disneyland. Boy - I'M BUMMED!!! :sad1: :sad2:

Well, for whatever it's worth supermom, you could always consider a resale.

Which tend to trend up right behind the price increase.

I think Disney will go to $101... HOwever, I don't belive the "no discount" There have been VERY few times there was not a discount for the 120 to 150 point purchase....

Will older resort add ons (OKW,VWL,BCV,BWV) also be going up? Currently at $92.

Random speculation...

I gotta believe that Disney is restrained in what they can charge by what the resale market will bear. One of the things that really puts DVC over other timeshares is closeness of prices between direct and secondary markets. Of course, you could turn that around and say the resale market is driven by direct prices.

I just can't believe that Disney has been pushing hard to get people to buy at $80-something a point if they really think they can get $100-something.

Gonna be interesting to see...

What Disney has also done(very well) is show prospective buyers that the price history has always been contrary to the average timeshare. I would not have purchased if this upward trend did not exist.

This helps pull in existing timeshare owners, since this is a rarity and it also helps pull those of us that had a very bad feeling when timeshares were concerned.

Yes I know timeshares should never be thought of as investments, and I did not. But it does allow me to sleep easier knowing that the retail(and hence resale) value has never decreased since the program started.

I spoke to my DVC guide and he said there hasn't been a deal like this in some time BUT If I couldn't buy in right now, it's okay because there are frequent incentives of different kinds.

I SURE hope so! :cool1:

I would guess that this promo brought in enough people where they won't need to be doing discounts for a little while. And also, not everyone's even aware of the F&F discount. I'm pretty internet-savvy (have my own web server in the basement, run a forum) but I wasn't aware of the promo until I mentioned to our guide, just in passing, that I knew someone who was a member. That's because I hadn't been planning on buying for a few years so hadn't been following DVC news. Someone just going in to take the tour through one of the zillion kiosks around the property isn't going to be disappointed that this promo is over as they wouldn't know that it existed, especially if they don't spend their time perusing Disney web sites.

The point being, I kind of doubt that they'll suddenly run out of buyers now. :)
