@crackerjack21 I think you said it just fine. I agree with your analysis and vote for DVC!
Yep, just make traveling from AKV to MK your longest trip now.We have not owned but have traveled in an RV many times. What I intended to say above was we probably won't be getting the RV as we planned and now are looking to purchase DVC instead. For the reasons you state above, we are getting too old to do all the work and care an RV would need. We also traveled a lot in our work and now just happy to go to one location that we love.
Mistakes we made -
Buy something now. The sooner you start using DVC, the more experience you’ll have to make better purchase decisions later. Keep your eye out for a good deal at one of the resorts you’re surest about. Have you thought about a use year?
- not buying sooner
- buying a smaller contract, and then later wanting more points. The added cost of 2 separate closings and higher $pp premiums on smaller contracts… would’ve been better buying more points to start.
- thinking we would rarely stay in 1BR or 2BR
- we thought direct was out of the question and it ended up making perfect sense for our second purchase
This Is The WayI actually wonder if I shouldn't have bought in the middle of my mine and my wife's first trip to Disney 8 and a half years ago. Even now, my wife is convinced we will rarely stay in a 1 br or 2 br. We have 355 points but in my view not enough for how we will vacation in just 2 years.
I have three resale contracts now and your last point about buying direct is the place where I am now. As soon as the Poly Tower opens, I am game to add to what I have there.
But maybe with a few adult children, buy separate contracts adding up to the total you want. It may make inheriting or selling easier down the road.This.
Agree, buy in blocks of 100 or less, even if direct split them up.But maybe with a few adult children, buy separate contracts adding up to the total you want. It may make inheriting or selling easier down the road.
I bought 50 BRV for $99, I got 25 BWV for $120, i got 61 BLT for $120, how much are you going to save to make it worth not being able to sell it if needed.?For resale, smaller contracts cost more per point. I'd go for a big 300 point contract and get a better price per point.
Bay lake would be my suggestion in your case. Magic kingdom is the bigger draw, being able to walk back for nap time is important.
Thank you, we never considered Bay Lake at first but it seems like such good deal and great for future little ones.
If you ...think you’re going to eventually buy a lot of points, do it all at once, it will save a lot of $$.
