It would be extremely odd not to receive current points. I don't know many people that would accept that - I know I wouldn't. What use year were you given? Your first post indicates it may be September which should have at the very least given you current 2011 points. And if it was an October UY then you should have received 2010 points that you could bank immediately and you should be getting 2011 points on 10/1.

I will check on that!!! Thank you!!

We sailed the same cruise :) I spoke to my husband last night and sure enough.. 100 pts.. Ours will be September use year but no points added to this year... He said he asked for the 100 pts and she got us those points...

You were on the Alaskan cruise? And at the presentation they offered 100-point buy-in? WOW, somehow we missed that. But we are actually happy with the 160. It just would have been a little less painful on the pocketbook :goodvibes!!!

Congratulations on your new purchase. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

Just keep browsing these boards and soon you will be an expert.

Oh not the Alaskan!! We were on the Disney Dream.. I'm sorry for the confusion on the cruise part :(

They didn't offer it at our presentation either... It was something he asked when we went to speak with them one on one... So I don't think I need to provide any type of document to prove this do i?

Our home resort is SSR also! Thank you for the heads up :) Since we won't be using the points until next year, we are thinking about banking our points for 2012 and UY 2013 to go on a trip to Europe to stay at one of the resorts there... My husband may be deploying next year for about 7 mons so we wouldn't be using it next year...

Have you gone to Europe yet?

The only non DVC trip we've done was for a Disney Cruise. We try to use most of our points for DVC because we see the greatest value there. It is fun dreaming about all of the great places we can go though!

Welcome home neighbor:thumbsup2 Thank your husband for his service. I am a Marine mom and understand about deployments.:sad2:

If you purchased last weekend, then you would currently have 100 2011 points, which expire on August 31, 2012 (with a September UY). You can bank these so that they can be used from Sept 1, 2012 through Aug 31, 2013, but you'll need to check your banking deadline. Also, if there's any chance you'll be using your points between now and August, don't bank them yet as it is a final transaction, and once banked you cannot take them back.

100 points is a good starting point, what is your home resort (forgive me if you posted it, I didn't read every single post)? Enjoy your future vacations and WELCOME HOME!

We own since 2000 and to this day we still feel it's the best money we ever spent!

Well, I am very happy for you. Congrats again!!!!

Welcome Home and THANK YOU you to your Husban for his service to our country (and to your family)!! You will be busy trying to figure out how best to use your 100 points with banking/borrowing based on when your family can get Home.

I agree that you should have 100 2011 points that won't expire till august 31st with a banking deadline of April 31st. Our use year is august and our banking deadline is mar 31. We bought ours last year in July and so we also received 2009 points...whereas you bought and were already in Sep. Did you choose September for any reason or that's what was offered. You should contact your guide or DVC and find out if anything can be modified unless September is what you wanted. Sorry I forget which resort and availability can be limited...

Anyway...Congrats and Welcome Home! Your husband and whole family deserve the vacations and memories together! Thank you all for your service and sacrifice for this country! and I know you'll love it as much as we do!

Make sure to visit "Welcome Home Wednesdays" on your first visit. It is a blast. You have a chance to win some cool DVC stuff and usually everyone gets at least one DVC item at the end. You will meet othe rmembers and will have the chance to mingle and ask lots of questions.
It is a must attend for us everytime we visit. We also take advantage of the annual pass discount. We get two trips with the pass verses one as long as we return within 365 days.
