We bought at SSR tonight at the $91, nd are a little in question now... We are younger couple and like a more active resort, should we have waited for AKV? When do they go on sale to the general public? Our guide couldn't tell us for sure. Does anyone have confirmation on any promo pricing for general public?

What do you mean by "a more active resort"? I don't consider AKL/AKV an active resort. AKL is a place I like to stay when I want to relax out on my balcony watching the animals.

AKV is supposed to go on sale to the general public on March 5th. List price will probably be $104 with a minimum buy-in of 160 points. There is no information yet on any incentives.

Welcome!

I think I read somewhere that the date for sales to the public was moved to June?

No, the price freeze and incentive was held over for existing members until June. New members get the new sale with price hike come Monday.

OP, I think you'll find SSR a livelier locale than AKV. SSR is right across from Downtown Disney so you'll have access to all the Pleasure Island Clubs, West End restuarants, Marketplace shops, ferries to three resorts and busses to all the others.

The only livelier locale is probably BWV and BCV with their position in the Boardwalk area between Epcot and MGM.

AKV is part in the Lodge and part in a seperate building across the savannah. You'll have a great safari retreat there (wake up with the animals) and some of the most unique restaurants, but you won't be able to walk to anything, not even Animal Kingdom. And bus rides are 15-45 minutes away from the nightlife in Disney.

Check out a WDW Resort map and you'll see what I mean.

Hmm next door to DTD is not active enough? Or a world class spa? I like AKV but other than the animals there is not much to do than any other resort.

SSR is a fabulous resort as are ALL of the DVC resorts - each have their pluses and minuses but I have yet to hear AKV as described as *active*...maybe I am missing something.

SSR is a resort near the action .....within a few steps to DTD. Oh yeah great food great drinks great shopping.....needless to say great HAH.....beautiful veiw...We are a young family too and we love it.
