Hi! We just closed a couple weeks ago and I am patiently :rotfl: waiting for my member number. Part of the contract had 72 points from 2012. We are an April UY. Can I bank those points?? I am pregnant so my last trip will be in October.. and we probably won't get back to my happy place until May-ish. So I am worried if I don't get that member number soon, I won't be able to add a couple nights to our October trip and those points will be useless. Thanks!

If they are April 2012 points, they have to have already been banked to 2013 or they expired 3/31/13. If they were banked, they expire 3/31/14.

It says 12/12/11 borrow points to use-year from 4/12 to 4/13 is 72 and vacation points available is 72. It is dated as of 5/10/13. It under the 4/13 use year.

thanks so much for making sense of this foreign language for me!

Don't get your hopes up about October. I think I read somewhere here on the Dis that there are no studios or 2BR's available for any night in October and only a few scattered nights available in a 1BR. You would need to get very lucky to get a room in October at this point.

That is true. I may have to cancel a November studio reservation because of a work conference. I checked Oct-Nov-Dec and could not find 5 nights anywhere except for SSR.

We actually already have a room booked for a week at BCV but I was going to add on a night or two at the beginning or end to use some of the points. Does that mean I cannot bank those points?

I don't understand your question even after reading your earlier posts. Can you clarify why you want to bank the points? And how you think adding a night impacts that? (Realizing that you don't understand it all yet, but explain your thought process and maybe we can help.)

I too am confused. It seems to have been determined that the points were banked and would be available for you to use in Oct. What people were pointing out though is that there may not be any rooms available for you to book an additional couple of nights during that month - or at least to be prepared it may not be the resort you most prefer.

Points may only be banked one time. If they are not used then they will expire at the end of the UY they were banked into.

Oh geez..I am so sorry!!

I just purchased a contract.. it had 72 points that have not been used. It looks like they are from the 2012 use year.

Before I purchased the contract, I rented points and booked BCV already in October. I am pregnant so October will be our last trip til May (We have an April Use Year). Therefore, so we didn't lose those 72 points that I got from the contract we just bought -- I was going to add them and stay a couple nights before our BCV week. I don't even care what resort we are at.. I just didn't want to lose the points! We do not have our member number yet so I don't even know if that idea is even possible..

BUT, ideally, I would like to bank the points.. I just didn't know if I could actually bank them since they are from the 2012 use year. Does that make sense? :confused3

I really appreciate all of your help and posts!

If they are from the April 2012 use year, they would have expired on March 31, 2013 unless you or the previous owner banked them. Assuming you know they are currently still available, then they were banked. They are now good for stays April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. You will not need to bank them to use them as you described. You cannot bank them again so if not used by 3/31/14, they will be gone.

Do you also have April 2013 points? If so, you will need to bank those by November 30, 2013 if you want to use them between April 1 2014 and March 31 2015.

The point summary from DVC says...

Borrow points to use-year 4/12 from 4/13 is 72. It says that there are 72 vacation points available and zero vacation points available in holding.

I really hope this makes sense and you all can help me!

I admit to not understanding why it says "borrow". If 2013 points were borrowed into 2012 (which is how that reads to me), they wouldn't be available now, they would already be expired.

Is this a contract for 72 points? Then maybe those 2 items are not actually connected the way I am thinking and the "72 points available" are your current 2013 points and that beginning part with "borrow" in it is just historical information which would have no relevance to your situation at this point in time.

Where are you buying the contact from?

No, it is a 320 point contract. I bought it from Fidelity. I am so confused with these 72 points. It says that as of May 2013 the 72 points are available. I typed out exactly what it says on the point summary sheet.

And your purchase contract said you were receiving 72 2012 UY points? It sounds to me like it's stating there are 72 points from the 2013 UY that could have been borrowed into the 2012 UY.

What else does your point summary statement say since there must be more that could allow us better interpretation?

It says Use year 04/13

Annual Points allocation quantity 320 balance 320

Borrow Points to use-year 04/12 from 04/13 quantity -248 Balance 72

Vacation Points Available 72

Vacation Points Available in Holding 0

Well it looks like you have 72 2012 UY points that were banked into 2013. I might call Fidelity though and verify due to that weird "borrow" language. My OP above is correct then regarding not needing to do any banking of those 72 points, but if you want to use your 2013 points in May 2014, they will have to be banked by the end of November.

In fact, I would definitely call Fidelity because I don't understand why it doesn't have a line saying Vacation Points Available 320 at the bottom of the first section. But I have never seen resale paperwork. (Not trying to alarm you, I'm sure it will all come out fine.)

I interpret this a little differently. To me, this looks like a "transaction summary" of some sort. I read it that 248 of the 2013 UY points were already borrowed (and presumably used by the seller) into the 2012 UY leaving 72 points on the current 2013 UY. So the OP can still bank them into 2014 or try to use them this October if she can. I don't see anything indicating that the contact had banked points.

Oh. Light bulb. I think you may be right and I might be wrong (I think I got my mindset in the wrong place perhaps by reading all the earlier posts). As soon as you wrote that, that interpretation made perfect sense and I don't know why I didn't see it myself. OP, if I've led you astray, I apologize but I think Kristen's explanation makes more sense.

To reiterate, you should call Fidelity to verify. If Kristen's interpretation is correct, I don't know why they have the phrase "balance 320" on the paperwork.
