I was told that there was a new incentive where by current members could get a free 3 night cruise on the Disney Dream if they added on 100 points and new members could get the same 3 night free cruise if they purchased 160 points. Did anyone get a mailer or new information on this program? Program will expire June 30, 2010 I was told

Thanks

Ed

I just got an "e-mail this to your friends" e-mail offering the cruise to new members for a 160 point purchase at "selected" resorts.

There was a flier about that in the new Disney Files (ours just arrived today). That was also an incentive offered this past weekend at the Doorway to Dreams event in the Chicago area.

I don't think this is *new*. It was the same offer they presented back in March when we bought DVC. Well, back then it was either the free 3 night cruise or a discount on your points.

Here are the details from the email sent out today:

"Offer requires new purchasers to buy a real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort equal to 160 Vacation Points and, if financing, make monthly loan installments for up to 9 months (based on down payment and length of loan) before sailing; and current Members to purchase an Add On equal to 100 Vacation Points and, if financing, make monthly loan installments for up to 14 months (based on down payment and length of loan) before sailing. Offer expires on June 30, 2010. Offer includes 1 Oceanview Stateroom for up to 4 people for a 3-night Disney Cruise Line® cruise aboard the Disney Dream on 1 select sailing date between March 3, 2011, and December 15, 2011. Sailing dates and ranges subject to change. Blockout dates apply. Limit 1 cruise per Membership. Includes all government taxes and fees. Does not include incidental expenses. Cruises cannot be taken until all necessary payments are made. Failure to make all payments and to be current with respect to all amounts and obligations owed to Disney Vacation Club Management Corp. or any of its affiliates at the time of sailing may result in cancellation and forfeiture of the cruise. All accommodations and sail dates are subject to availability. Offer subject to change or termination without notice and cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts. Restrictions apply."

However, I'm pretty sure you have to pay the full price instead of the "real" price, so the cruise is really costing you about $10 to $15, or about $2,400 for a 160 point contract. More if compared to resale. ;)

I am wondering if any of you might know what might be the next incentive. I really want the annual passes instead of the cruise. But I missed that a while back.

Thanks

Based on past practice, you cannot assume that any future incentive will include anything that was in a previous incentive. Generally, there is usually some discount per point but as far as other incentives like cruise or APs or anything else you can only guess and then likely your guess will be wrong.

Mtnman hit it on the head. We are new members and it was either cruise or discount on points. Our membership guide did the math with us and we figured cash via discount was better than cruise.

We just bought a resale contract - had never heard of the AP incentive - that might entice us to do an add-on. Went to the event in Chicago this weekend. Lots of fun, but the cruise incentive just doesn't do it for us because our family is so big. At least I got my mouse fix!

Every AP incentive I've seen recently cost more in lost cash discounts off the purchase price, than the APs are worth. Just an FYI to check out the math.
