New Doubletree at Universal, anyone booked?

I just received an email from the Doubletree newsletter, that a new hotel will be up and running by summer at Universal. Reservations are being taken now, for stays after May.....

We plan to go during the NYE holiday week, and rates are about $120.00 per night, but so far we have reserved rooms at Holiday Inn Universal at $79.00 per night with the Entertainment card. We stayed here 2 years ago, and it was fine with us.

Anyone book at the new Doubletree yet???

This is not owned by Universal is it? And where exactly is this hotel? I've never heard of it.

I went to the Doubletree site and it does show a new hotel being constructed at the entrance to Universal on Major Blvd. I believe it is just a new off site hotel and not owned by Universal.

I think you will find it's the Radisson Universal (same address). I stayed there at new year and the staff had said it was becoming a Doubletree. You should be able to get it much cheaper than $120 though. I guess it changes hands at the end of April as the doubletree site says bookings after 1st May

I'm booked at HRH in Late Dec. for $144 poolview. With that in mind, $120 seems like a lot for off site.

I have reservations for March at the Radisson and the info I have says it will become the Doubletree on April 1.

Are you speaking of the Radisson Twin Towers??

I'm not sure if it is Twin Towers. It is the Radisson on Major Blvd.
