Lou, you brought a smile to my lips for the first time in a very trying day! Thanks! The discipline situation has escalated (or should I say deteriorated) with the parent threatening a law suit. because the student was denied extra curricula activities. Remember extra curricular (field trips, fun activities planned for evenings) is a privlege not a right. I'm a bit shaky from the abuse I took today but Lou lightened my evening considerably.

This just convinces me that I deserve a trip to the S/D.

Yes, indeed, Muffy, the weather was summer like today - although I spent the day locked in my office!

Btw, Lou, I promise I won't invite any nuns to the meet.

mouseteacher~So sorry for the all trouble/abuse you encountered. Don't you just LOVE this NEW GENERATION? The parents in "FULL DENIAL" and the smirking kids sitting by with their arms crossed and their devil-may-care attitude. They are learning the same dirty tricks *(by watching their folks). Shameful...and very disheartening. When I was a young person, my parents were the "WHAT DID SHE DO?" Type! Never the, "NOT MY CHILD" ones. Thankfully, our DD has never been in any trouble in all her years of school. She adheres to all the RULES and respects the teachers/administrators. Perhaps this is why all her teachers, principals, etc., repeatedly inform DH & I she is a "joy" to have in their class, school, etc. Makes us SO proud...knowing she holds the quality traits of character, honor and integrity, above all else.
*Soon enough, we'll relax together by the grotto pool...and look back at this stuff with laughter and a virgin frosty beverage in our hands!

Thanks, DF. You described the situation perfectly - were in my office yesterday? I, too, have wonderful sons whom we receive the same reports as you - "a joy to have in class, conscientious, repectful, hard-working, cooperative, follows school rules". I can put my head on my pillow at night and sleep knowing that my sons represent themselves well and their family. The above traits are the character and values we raised them with. Can the father of the student do the same? I think not.

I completely understand where you are coming from.. It really seems like teachers and admin have very little control in school any more... It seems like parents and kids have all the control!

Get this.... DH is is really working to go to this conference in November at the Dolphin... I of course had to check out airfare..

I actually had a kid *with the arms/smirk/eye roll* ask me what I was going to do since "she ain't like you anyways and if you call to wake her up she'll be's mad".

This was this past week! I did manager to reason with the child, by totally ignoring her and getting her out of the room. I think the hallway was pretty boring that day!

Hi everyone!!

Just catching up on reading-had a very busy week, DD 9th bday and 8 little ladies sleeping over last nite-very little sleep!

Yikes- people are getting sassy! A little respect for people's opinions is in order. I don't even understand the attitude of intolerance and labeling, esp to DF. These very same people will have no problem asking for advice or information when they need it. There is no room on a board like this for disrespect or pettiness. Hmmm... we wonder why poor Mouseteacher and countless other educators across the planet have such trouble. How can children grow up to be respectful, compassionate, responsible adults when they don't see any in their home??

Anyhow- I am missing the Swan/Dolphin and all of WDW at this moment-and jealous of your meet!

jgates~They look good. I wonder if they taste like HERSHEY'S candy bar version...which is YUMMY~! (But,loaded with Carbs!).

Oh, I called the Dolphin to make a few more plans, and get some things (details) straight. I enjoy Live Tropical "Plants" in my suite...and they place them in there prior to my arrival. I called to select some, and also perhaps some fresh flowers.

I'm dreaming of the place right now...and the oasis which is WDW....

Encourage all you know to get a masters degree or MD or Ph.D... not a JD! We have a glut of those people and they seem to resort to insanity as a means of survival. gag!!!

Disfanrn>> I signed my pink slip on Monday last week. We knew they were coming, I am not going to worry about it until we are in August! I signed, I filed them in my desk, I kept on teaching! I am trying to explain to DH that he'd better get used to this for the next five years or so! He is freaked out about my pink slip (which btw isn't pink!), I have good feelings, I know my principal wants me back, and we're still an Edison school for one more year, thus different staffing needs!

I set up a combined S/D concierge thread breakfast table this morning! Please help yourself!

Since you all have been so supportive of me and my stuff over the past year...I'm pasteing a post from CB that I posted ealier..

Yesterday was supposed to be one of the hardest days I've had yet....My Stepmother, who was as dear to me as my own mother, was to be layed to rest...her memorial was scheduled for 2pm...

Well tradgey struck my family again some time between friday night and sat am....My Aunt (my mother's sister, who was a dear friend of my stepmom and dad) had flown to SC with her husband to pick up their FIL and drive to NC this morning to attend my stepmom's memorial.
About 15 mins after leaving Myrtle Beach they recieved a call that my Cousin (27, my aunt and uncles only son) was in a horrible accident.

After sorting through the information, what we can learn he was in a single car accident and wrapped his car around a tree sometime in the last 12 hrs. He is currently on life support and has no brain activity.

My family is in desparate need of prayers. My Cousin was supposed to graduate from the University of Texas on Sat. May 8 with his masters in Psychology. He was my aunts life. The world rose and set on him in my Aunts eyes. I'm not sure they will make it through this....you see my Aunt and Her husband have lost his mother, and sister in the past 3 months and they are about to lose there only son...

Please pray for my family....I most probably will be attending a funeral in Texas later this week...

UPDATE ADD:
My Cousin is currently on Life Support. They are in the process of testing his organs for donation. We are told this will take about 24 hrs. So, I think sometime tomorrow he will officially be pronounced dead.

But out of our family tragedy will come lots of hopes and dreams fulfilled for many other families. My cousin was a very health young man so I'm pretty sure that all his organs will be available for donation. So, please add prayers for those families that will be given a second chance at a life due to my dear cousin.
