My last post "bumped" us over to page #2!

lovingthemouse~Caroline! :wave2: So happy to read you had a wonderful time at the Dolphin. ;) We rode the Segways on Castaway Cay (Disney Cruise) last summer, and already have ressies to ride this summer in Epcot! I was going to buy two of these for us at home, but they were recalled before I could place the order through Amazon. We have E-bikes, City bug, and lots of fun toys, so we can wait! Glad you have a touch of warm weather now. :sunny: It's always warm here...and the flowers are in bloom year-round. Our lawn is green and growing (Gardner stays employed and happy) all season! It's a bit odd...but I'm not complaining. :p

* A Friendly wave to Zurgswife  , Disbug, #1HM, jgates, DM63, MG, tink44, Kimmar, and all the WL friends, along with all new recent posters!

*On a VERY exciting note: I paid-off DD's new car yesterday! It took me all of four months, and I am SO proud of myself. It's a new record for such a thing. Now, she'll have the pink slip, no pmts., and we'll be able to concentrate more on college ($$). Whew...breathing better already. Just had to share this with you, my sisters. ::yes:: I know you can all understand/appreciate the monumental milestone this represents.

Good morning to all my new S/D thread friends :wave2:
Another sunny day here in upstate NY and and like LisaBC said, there's 2 feet of snow but it may hit 40 today!

DF - what a great accomplishment paying off the car!! Our two are just starting to get at the age of what my DH calls the "big ticket" items... car, college, etc. Well, at least two sets of orthdontia are behind us!::yes::

I almost dare not speak of it on a lovely Sunday but I read a rather disturbing account of the S/D on a resort thread. I chalked 90% of it up to a grumpy person...
But was wondering if conventions do have a major impact on the grotto pool usage? I am going at Easter, would there be alot of convention traffic on that holiday and those days just after?
Any thoughts from the veterans?:smooth:

Well, I'll be back after mass and may religion class with my adorable little cherubs!
Happy Sunday to all:sunny:
DS63

...Happy Sunday, all! (I'm headed to the No. NJ Kennel Club Dog Show......TTFN!:wave2: )

Morning room!

We had a few conventions while we were there. There wasn't any impact what-so-ever on any of the Swan/Dolphin facilities that a tourist would be using. The only thing I could say that was partially impacted was that Kimono's was really hopping one night, with all of the business people who with a few shots of courage, thought they could sing! Looked like a great time, but we were too tired to join in!

Congrats on the car being paid off! DD's was paid off the month before Christmas. I LOVED putting that loan to sleep! You beat my time by about six months! :) Now if only the insurance would go down to reflect great payment time, eh?

Snow melting... another warm day! I say we all enjoy it while we can! We have two hockey practices today, so I'll spend hours on the road, with the windows rolled down! Nothing like those first few days of warmth to make us "believe" that spring is actually coming!:hyper:

LY MI,
Debbie

Dismom63~Thanks for the nod (on the auto-payoff)! I'm still feeling the effects of the euphoria...floating around on a cloud (9). :goodvibes Congrats on the braces investment. That's a LOT of mulah! DD recently had her wisdom teeth extracted, and may have invisalign on her upper teeth. Anything w/teeth=costly (but a priceless investment for your children!).

*WHERE in upstate are you? My folks & older DS reside in "Horseheads!" ::yes::

As for the Grotto pool & conventioners~I too read that post, and agree with you w/regards to the OP. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference which also must be noted w/respect to this subject (and is frequently overlooked). ALL DISNEY RESORT pools CLOSE by 10 pm, and these rules are strictly enforced by Disney resort security. The GROTTO pool at the Swan/Dolphin resort, however, is OPEN 24/7!!! So, even if a convention takes over the pool area for a few hours, once they are gone...you are welcome to go and PLUNGE in for some late-eve refreshment! In fact, here is one of the BEST things about these conventions. DD has obtained some of the BEST FLOATIE TOYS after these convention pool parties have ended. The floaties are left ALL OVER the PLACE! We spoke with management and the security personnel, and the floaties are FREE for anyone whom wishes to take/keep them! They remain in the pool until all are gone/taken.

We have played with LOADS of them, and then selected a couple unique/themed ones to keep. We carry them w/laughter through the halls late in the eve, and place them in the suite! We then play with them again and again while there, (as the Swolphin permits the use of floats, goggles and masks, and other pool items to be used in their pools). It is a BLAST, & one we enjoy summer after summer. We deflate them before leaving, and pack the desired ones in the bottom of our luggage. Fabulous (FREE) memories remain of numerous pool party conventions we've enjoyed at the Dolphin/Swan. This only goes to prove....If you look for it, you can find the positively wonderful SILVER LINING in ANYTHING! :teeth:

We're off to mass as well...enjoy the sermon, and the r. class with your cherubs! ;)

KIMMAR....Have fun at the show! Have you ever seen the film "BEST IN SHOW?" :rotfl: I bought it for DD (for Epiphany), and we laugh until it hurts. Very funny take on the Dog Show scene!

#1HM....oh, Deb...the insurance is a tough one! You and me both (keep dreaming!). As I told you, out here in So. Cali, even with the "good-grade" incentive, it increased more than $2,000 annually! Ugh....that was a REALITY CHECK!

Enjoy the spring breeze (windows rolled down), and the sunshine! :sunny: I still lament, and wish we had at least a DAB of snow around here...but no such luck. Frost...is the closest thing we see to FROZEN water!

Tonight...the ACADEMY AWARDS show is on! Such a big event here in Cali. I have some friends attending the show. Should be loads of fun. :)

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

:wave2: Afternoon, all!

Kimmar~ Have fun at the dog show... I love attending them. Check out the Airedales for me.

DF~ *two thumbs up* good for you on paying off the car! Now wouldn't it be great if the insurance bill would go down? Paying for 2 under 25 drivers is a killer!

Btw, our DS turns 21 on Wednesday! Where have the years gone? It only seems like yesterday when I would watch my little boy get out his bike, toss his baseball glove on the handle and with his bat in hand wave to me as he headed to the school yard to play with his friends. Now he is truly a man, an adult. To all of you with young children, savor the moments, hold them in your heart and in your memory for the times passes quickly.

Dismom~ there will always be negatives and positives about all resorts - differing opinions make the world go 'round! I am always so excited and thrilled to be in WDW that I refuse to let anything get me into a negative frame of mind - my time there is too short. I, too, have never been bothered by conventioneers. To me, they are almost invisible.

sm497~ DH and I went last summer for our anniversary and chose the Swan. I really liked this resort for just the 2 of us. The Swan comp upgraded us to a balcony room which we really liked using. We over looked the Dolphin and the lake. It was quite a pretty view particularly at night. I was not fussy about getting an Epcot view - I really wanted the balcony. I don't think you would be disappointed with either resort.

I really enjoy reading the posts here! :D

What a great outlook!

You sure can and you do!!!

I was also thrilled to learn the Grotto pool is open 24/7.....on a hot July night I'm sure we'll be enjoying it after our busy days!

oooooooo you guys really have me excited about our trip in June. :bounce: We are staying at the Swan. I think it is the best choice for our family. I love the enthusiasm and positive outlook you all have. Can't wait to get there.

#1 Hockey Mom - I love your logo. Can you tell me how to do that? Our sport is basketball - we go all year round as it sounds like you do. Have to schedule vacations around it! Then have to schedule caregivers for the dog, cats, horses, fish - quite a project.

Baseball and soccer in this family! I hope I've fit our vacation in between tournaments....but only time will tell!

Thank you for the logo compliment! I have to give the credit to others! The hockeymom patch part was picked out by Loubon, and was part of the #1hockeymom he created on the community board. The mickey was part of a mickey I had found and had used earlier (its also on my swan/dolphin sorority cup!), but stopped using when Lou made all of our signatures. Disbug found it (top secret spy she is :)) and gave it to Bambi Tamby who created magic! So, in a nutshell..... I teach during the day, am a hockey manager/hockey mom/taxi at night... and everyone else tries to keep me looking pretty! They have all been great and I love the work that went into each and every "change".

*room wave to all!*
Debbie

PS off to the trip report boards!

Wow, HockeyMom, you've got my head spinning over the logo! I had enough trouble figuring out how to post here! (Not a computer whiz). Son loses patience with me very quickly, lol! Well, it's really cool. I too am the taxi for my many "adopted sons" and I wouldn't have it any other way. The things you learn while they have conversations in the car:eek:! If anyone has a basketball logo and can explain to me in small words how to use it, I would be grateful:p.

paras4ri - tried baseball for a couple of years - great in the field, but not at the plate! That's ok - we like our climate controlled bball gyms.

There you GO again...making me cry. I spent this afternoon with sweet (16) DD, as she drove me to the bank, target, Costco, Office Max, Feedstore (where we actually purchased a sweet baby BLUE SILKIE Chick)
SilkieBlueChik.jpg
and then to Sonic. It is so nice having her drive me around, but also "bittersweet." I know exactly how you feel, and cherish the precious "youth" which is STILL 16.

paras4ri~one of our FAV secret (tradition) thing to do...is take a DIP in the pool @ 3:00 am. After returning from a late eve of FUN/Adventure in the MK on E-Ticket night, we simply detour from the bus to the pool! No one is in the pool, the sky is ENDLESS SUMMER (deep blue) filled with stars...and we are all together, laughing and playing. It is the BEST!! ::yes:: Isn't is GREAT to learn all these secrets (Grotto pool is 24/7) about the Dolphin/Swan?! :teeth:

bballmom56~With your bright outlook... :sunny: You'll be SURE to have a fabulous time! We too, have a menagerie of animals (all creatures...great and small!) at our home, and have to schedule caregivers (special people filled with LOVE and UNDERSTANDING!) for all our special family members unable to travel with us to WDW. ;) We are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. :goodvibes: Maybe BambiTamby will create a special logo for YOU too!

Lou~Could you PM me with the instructions on HOW DD can register on the DIS using the same computer. It keeps telling her she is already registered, as it picks up my DF info! There must be a way, as she has some friends whom post on the teen thread, and the cruise thread too. Thanks for any/all assistance. ::yes::

This is for you..!

or how about this one?

I am so GLAD to know the Grotto pool is open so late! Can you imagine swimming on a night filled with stars... or maybe a cheshire cat moon! :p

Disbug those are awesome:hyper:! Now comes the hard part - can you explain in small, simple words how I put it in my messages? I love the first one - that would be my son - playing above the rim and scoring the basket! (By the way, I was saying to him people even had negative comments about the GF and 1900 Park Fare where we did absolutely wonderful character breakfasts last time we were there - 11 years ago. And he said "how could anyone complain? Great food and Mickey Mouse right with you! It doesn't get any better than that!" He's my 15 year old and I guess maybe I'll have to do a character meal after all! I didn't think he cared! It's the Disney magic:teeth:)

Thanks Disbug!

Right click on the logo you like and click on copy.

Click on USER CP at the top of this page.

Go to EDIT PROFILE

Where it says SIGNATURE, right click and paste the address of the logo (you already copied it)

Before the logo, type in Qimg src="the address of your logo"W

Don't forget the W (which you will find out is a "greater than" sign)

Where the Q is make sure it is the "less than" sign
Where the W is make sure it is the "greater than" sign

No spaces anywhere! :)

Basically, your signs are enclosing the code that you need to make the image show up.

If I put those signs in right now, you wouldn't be able to see the code
<img src="http://www.disgalaxy.com/Characters/Mickey/sports/basketball2.gif">

here is the raw code, minus the greater than and less than signs. Add that to your signature, and you'll be set!

Happy Birthday to your son, Mouseteacher! Yet another big step! *I need kleenux now*

...and then we have new life with DF's little chickie! What a cutie!

Disbug>> My kids favorite time to swim was between 12 and 1am! They weren't the only people with the same ideas
