uh... let's see here! A topic: Who said it only takes 10 minutes to walk to the International Gateway at Epcot from the Swan? I'm thinking you must be measuring in metric minutes.... I was thinking more in the 15 to 20 minute casual stroll range! LOL! But ok, ok if you're late for Illuminations or a PS at the Princess Character Breakfast, it can be Done!

For those who have been sending me PM's MY PM BOX IS OPEN AGAIN!
Thank you!

Disbug~ that was me walking to Epcot in 10 min from the Swan... but that is me trying to keep up with DH and DSs who are over 6' tall and have big strides. I'm always behind the pack and walking at a faster pace than I prefer. They are always in a hurry to get where they're going even when they don't know where they're going since I do planning and the directing. :crazy2:

I need help with my beautiful new mouseteacher and getting in my sig. Thanks to Bambi I finally have something on my chalkboard! I certainly don't want to look like a teacher who has nothing to teach!

Lou~This is April Fools in February. Everybody is moving around.

I love this thread and haven't missed a post yet.:D I guess you could consider me more of a lurker than a participant. Just about every question I could possibly have is answered here.
I do have another question I am hoping someone could answer. I have a room blocked in the east wing of the Dolphin. Could someone please give me directions from the east wing to the Grotto Pool from inside the Hotel. I always like to know exactly where I am going.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

:wave2: Hi, *Belle* and welcome. Thanks for the compliment about this thread. Just take the elevator to the Tubbi's level and walk past Tubbi's and the health club. There is an exit door that leads to the path that takes you by the quiet lap pool and beyond to the grotto pool.

Thank you so much for your quick response mouseteacher.:)
We are so looking forward to our first stay at the Dolphin. I always feel as though I need to research every detail of the resort I choose. No stone left unturned.;)

You're welcome. I stayed in the central part of the building (CL -12th floor) so we took the central elevators right to the bottom floor. I am hoping for an Epcot view for our July trip.

S/D experts, can you tell me if the rooms @ the dolphin have balconies?

Thanks, MT

I am writing these directions dow. After all our stays at the Dolphin, my DH still gets lost going to the pool  He keeps thinking that he's going to find a shortcut or something, LOLOL......

5 more weeks, I don't think I can stand it!!:hyper:

Mouseteacher~Do you "train" prior to your marathon in WDW/Dolphin? I know what it is like, as my DF and DB are both very tall (Bro=6'4"), and have L~O~N~G Strides! They also seem to always be seriously walking towards wherever they are headed?!? I am more of a "talker", hence...I much prefer the STROLL. ::yes:: I enjoy walking/running each day for exercise.
DH and I walk about the same pace, and are much closer in height. When home in NY (parent's home...I still refer to it as HOME! LOL), I went walking with my dad. He's got more than 3 decades on me, and I was breathless. I nearly had to break stride and begin to GALLOP...just to keep up with his pace. He walks (fast) about 4 miles per day (DM too). All these years, and they still impress/motivate me. My heroes. :goodvibes

mousetime~YES...absolutely. There are plenty of them. Where do you wish to be located? Do you have a preference, such as overlooking the pool, or the MGM theme park? Would you like to be able to view the illuminations fireworks from your balcony? All of these are wonderful possibilties at the Dolphin/Swan.

Belle~:wave2: Hello sister! (self-professed lurker)Previous posts are all correct (on the path to the Grotto pool), but I take an even shorter (more discreet) path to the pool from the East wing. Instead of taking the EAST elevators down and trapsing through the lobby in my swimming duds, I take an alternate route. I walk just past the elevators and cross the "long hallway" over to the WEST elevators. This hallway has rooms/suites...and sometimes has double doors closed (depending on which floor you are on, as housekeeping/cleaning facilities are located off this hall). Do not be intimidated. Simply push open the doors, and cross the hall to the WEST elevators. :) When you exit this elevator, take the same path (away from the gift shop side) past tubbies, the arcade, the salon, the childrten's center and the health club, out the doors to the pool. You will approach the Lap pool on a path along the lake (Swan boats to the left). Keep walking to the Grotto pool, and select a spot! IT's much nicer to return this way too. Sometimes the lobby has conventioners, etc., and I feel uncomfortable in my cover-up, sandals and wet hair! I MUCH prefer the discretion of this route. Just reverse the process upon your return.

This is ALSO a faster alternative route (from the EAST wing) to the bus stop. Just exit the WEST elevators and go out on the side of the gift shop...to the exit doors. Simple and fast. ::yes::

Also, if you take the CENTRAL elevators up as far as they will go (top floor permitted), you can go to the "right", through the little door...and out to the hidden balcony overlooking the horizon. It's a beautiful sight, as the trees and wild seem to go on infinitely. Like a scene out of the Lion King, just about all you see belongs to Disney. You can also see CSP from this secret vista. I love these little hidden treasures. Kids find them especially adventurous!

P.S. Everyone have their TAXES completed?

Thank you for the warm welcome and all you invaluable advise.:D
I really think I am going to love the Dolphin. Can't wait.:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

You're welcome! :sunny:

I'm confident you'll have a glorious time in the MAGIC, and at the wonderful WDW Dolphin resort. ::yes::

Please, feel free to ask any other questions you may have with regards to your upcoming trip. There are SO many things to reveal about this resort...it would take pages and pages to sufficiently cover them all!

Hi Paras4ri, there's some nice mint tea and petite beurre biscuits in the lurkers longe, some have chocolate on them. Help yourself.
Thank you for your welcome and the snacks too!!!

I will also add a question. Can anyone tell me about the health club....specifically if there are showers, etc? We'll be driving on our trip in July and could arrive quite early in the morning. I'm not counting on our room being ready and thought we could use the showers in the health club to clean up.

I can't answer about the health club, paras4ri. I never did get to use it. But, I have checked in in the morning - around 10:00 am - on all my trips and a room was ready. I don't think that later in July (well after the July 4th holiday) is a particularly busy time. I also believe that's why I've received such terrific comp upgrades, too.

Yes, nice & clean private showers/lockers are available. There are also all the amenities you will need (towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion...etc.). They are wonderful, spa-like. Bring your suits, as there's an indoor jacuzzi tub in the health club as well, which is seldom used. Very relaxing and refreshing. Jump in there to "unwind", and off to the showers to "refresh." Sounds like a great Plan!! ::yes::

We all love the health club, as there is bottled water (on tap too..for refilling our larger bottles), fresh fruit and wonderful equipment. It's always light and airy, with nice entertainment systems in place (music or T.V.). The massages...are memorable (and extremely feasible). Enjoy!! :sunny:

Thank you both for the feedback. I'm wondering what, if any upgrades we'll be offered given the holiday....but we are checking in on Saturday....and that's a good day for people to check out too!

Massages.....did you say massages???? :teeth:

It looks like we'll just miss both of you....we're staying July 3-11.

I have been lurking on your thread here for awhile:o !
I am so excited about our upcoming first trip to the Dolphin; I just needed to share with those that can appreciate it! Dh tries but know he thinks I am alittle nuts!
I also have a question that I am hoping someone can answer. My ressie confirmation says "A Category Dlx room , Confirmed A Balcony." Do you think the A refers to a certain level or is the word being used to mean one?
Wondering if this is a good category? Anyone have experience with this lingo?
Thanks so much!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Darn....I'd probably fit right in. My college sorority was Sigma Delta Tau!!!

I'm about to ask a question that draws lots of attention on an open thread......does the Dolphin/Swan have refillable mugs???
:duck:

The Swolphin has refillable mugs and they are purchased at Tubbi's in the Dolphin. This is also where you refill them. Hope this helps!
