kctinkerbell:

We are leaving Saturday for our first stay at the Dolphin, arriving early Sunday morning.

I called today to confirm the confirmation and asked about a refrigerator. I was told that there were two options:

-a one-time $20 charge to use the mini-bar as your fridge. This means they will NOT stock the mini-bar for the duration of your stay.

-$12 per nite rental charge for a fridge for your room. It is with a separate company and they were going to note it on my reservation.

HOWEVER, as I was talking to the agent I explained that I needed a fridge because my daughter is allergic to milk and I had to bring her special rice-based milk which needed to be kept cold once opened. She said that since I need it for medical reasons, there would be no charge!!! She put that on my ressie!

I hope this helps!

When we get back I'll post with the latest on the Dolphin, including photos and renovations updates!

Good morning All...feels like a MONDAY!~Hope everyone enjoyed the day-off yesterday, and had a wonderful weekend. ::yes::

Wow...where to begin. I was not on yesterday, as we were in the mountains. I had to read about 5 pages to get "up-to-speed~!" (LOL) I even made NOTES!

Here's what I read and wished to answer:

*A/C VENTS~With regards to the "Direction of the FLow" from these vents, it can be EASILY changed to suit your needs. Just "manually" adjust each metal vent with your fingers, moving it either up or down, or straight across (or anywhere in between). You may also adjust "half" of them in one direction, half in the other...etc. I do this all the time, and figured everyone else did too! It definitely affects things (feel/flow of air through the room).

*A/C FILTERS~I would STRONGLY suggest everyone TEST the flow of air coming from the unit once settled in the room. If the A/C unit is too loud, or the flow seems weak, call Maintenance...and they will PROMPTLY replace it w/o any trouble. Also...this is WONDERFUL ADVICE for anyone with any type of ASTHMA or other condition. These units run all the time, and the filters have to be changed more often than most. So, when in doubt...(or for the reasons mentioned above), call for a FRESH & NEW FILTER~!;)

*Instant awards~with respect to dining, should be obtained prior to use at the front desk. These certificates are not good for use in Shula's or Blue Zoo. But, they are good at just about every other eatery in the two resorts. Enjoy!

*Fridge in the room~The resort will quote you a $20 fee to have the ROOM SERVICE personnel empty the fridge for your use. If you do it yourself, and inform them...there will be NO CHARGE (and you are FREE to use it as you wish).
Also, just as allicat1214 posted...it's FREE if it is needed for ANY medicines, etc. Wonderful point!

NancyIl~:wave2: So happy to hear from you! Enjoy a fabulous and memorable time with your DM at the Swan (has she ever been there?) and the cruise (be sure to post when you return). I'd LOVE to take a trip with my mom, just the two of us. You are blessed to be able to share some "alone" time together. I wish you both the BEST TIME EVER! :hugs:

KIMMAR!!! AKA: HughJackman'n'me! I've missed you so...and am terribly sorry for all the problems w/your WL thread. :( I was in shock by some of the posts I read, and amazed by the tolerance you & many other VETS displayed. Feel free to come over ANYTIME!! :happy1:

BambiTamby~You are SO AMZING! Before I arrived at the page where you worked your MAGIC on my Clip~art, my notes reflect the following: "Love your changing/flashing clip art! VERY FANCY!" Then, I read forward a couple of pages...and came to my own "DREAMFLIGHT" Clip art...doing the FLASH~DANCE all on it's own!! :rotfl: I was so intrigued and tickled by the PIZAZZ! Is it okay if I "Copy and paste" it into my profile? I'm so impressed by the new, all Spruced-up, razzle-dazzle, flashie "look at me" version! It literally screams my name, and certainly commands attention. What FUN you have invoked, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! :love2: You have brightened my DAY!

[/b]Piglette[/]~So happy to read you have enjoyed this thread, and found the answers to be so beneficial. You will have a wonderful time, equipped with all the new info! Happy to have you onboard. :goodvibes:

jmcross~Hello, Joanne! :wave2: How's the MAGIC? Thanks again, for posting some views and experiences. WOW...Wishes is better than the Boston 4th of July spectacular?!? (What do you think of THAT mouseteacher?) :teeth: Must be incredible. These types of shows make me "cry" (I'm a sentimental fool...a real sap). I even cried watching it on my Computer screen...compliments of the DIS home page! It lasted about 15 minutes, and was very touching. I can hardly wait to experience it firsthand. Another EXCITING reason to BE AT WDW this summer!! Thank you, again, for taking time from your trip to post. Tell your Dear Family we appreciate their patience (as you log-on and type), and understanding.

TINK~YOU are SO CUTE!!:cutie: (Tom Petty...I nearly forgot!). #1hockeymom posted all the info necessary to attach your laptop successfully to the net while at the Swan/Dolphin. I also have wireless, and can use it outside the suite. I now have net access on my new C-Phone (DD too), and LOVE it! We both have Cam phones, she has the Nokia 3650, and I have the Sony T116. They are SO fun. :teeth: CONGRATS on your 100th post!

Disbug~HELLO! I'll be on the other thread a bit more now...and love the freedom it gives us to express a few more personal things. DH was encouraging me to drive from VERO during one of the Days you have set for the meet. I will have to let you know which one...as I LOVE all the things you have listed to date. I remember the adorable photo of you, in all the safari gear & pin lanyard...at the AK! I would also LOVE the grotto~pool get-together, and the Fireworks cruise. We should have a "MINI-GOLF" adventure at Fantasias! Would be a good time, without a doubt. I'm a GOLF-MASTER...(LOL...sure I am!!).

Well..time to get some REAL work done. I have a deadline to meet, some chapter work....then I'll be back on.

Adieu...Adieu...parting is such sweet sorrow. :sunny:

Can you walk from the Swan to Epcot and the Boardwalk? How long of a walk is it?

Thanks DF :goodvibes

Mom Poppins, you'll enjoy Chef Mickeys as long as you like a relaxed yet lively time. The characters move from table to table so everyone gets to interact with them and of course, you have the Napkin Dance:cool1: . If you're having breakfast, you can also have omelets to order (which is what I did because I'm kind of persnickity about my eggs). :snooty: There was a good variety of food in the buffet, all fresh and quickly replenished.

Have fun allicat. :D

Have a great rest of the day all! :wave2:

yes, you can! often it is faster to walk than it is to take the boat :)

Someone on these boards onced clocked the distance from the BC to the BW and back to the BC at about a mile using a GPS. Using a straight line from the S&D to Epcot I would imagine is about a mile with the BW being about half way. It took me about 5 - 10 minutes from the BC to Epcot. (early in the trip....by the end of the trip it took me about 3 hours:p )

Who said I can't stay on topic?????

PS DF & Disbug ~ A flutter of a wing and a flash of the logo and you're ready to leave me by the wayside.....:(

Yesterday's news....

DF~ I must agree with Joanne about Wishes being better than Boston 4th of July fireworks... and I'm basing my opinion on the DIS video version which gave me the goosebumps! I can imagine what will happen when I see the real thing! :hyper: I also agree with a poolside get-together on the day you can drive over. What could be finer than the grotto pool, DIS friends, and adult colation. ;)

I just received my spg account update in the mail and saw that my membership expired at the end of this month. So, I called spg to see what could be done so that I didn't lose my points or my Gold status. I told the rep that I have 2 stays coming up - one in April and one in July. She said "no problem" and updated my account so that it expires February 2005. The spg people are very accomodating.

I walked from the Swan to the BW in about 5 minutes. Add on about 5 more and you are the International Gateway in Epcot.

Hi Freiden8,

Add the 5 minute Swan to Boardwalk stroll to the distance from the Boardwalk to the Epcot International Gateway entrance (about a 5-7 minute walk at a relaxed pace) and you have a 10 to 12 minute pleasant walk. And of course there's always the Friendship Launch which takes a few minutes longer but is a nice boat ride.

:rotfl: me too...I prefer them COOKED, as opposed to anything which even resembles RUNNY! :teeth:

I know one can make that walk probably faster, but I'll take the boat, if you don't mind!;)

Besides, we've rarely have to wait more than 15 minutes for a friendship boat.::yes::

DF99 and Disbug.....please! By all means, clip and paste!
I made tham for you!

DF99,
I can not tell you how much I enjoyed your WL experience...LMAO!!! I read it to my DH who loved it as well..

ok, so I don't get in trouble for being "off topic"

Does the Dolphin or Swan have balconies

They both have balconies! You can also reserve, on the Dolphin side, a King Turret balcony room which will have part of the turret/round balcony, and another regular balcony! Just watch what you do out there, as there is always someone enjoying the view and they might enjoy more than you are willing to give!

LOL!!!!! I've been lurking for a while and picking up great info for our trip this summer. I just couldn't resist posting after reading about the balconies. Reminds me of a personal experience in NYC a few years ago in which a group of my friends & I saw much more than we bargained for in an apartment in an adjoining building!!! :earseek:

*laughing* That would be to what I am referring to! There was a thread last Spring about this, that suddenly disappeared. Unfortuately too many of us read it and I, for one, still get a chuckle out of it!

Welcome to the S/D thread, paras4ri!

Uh oh! There's Angels on the S&D thread, Sorority sisters on the WL thread, Riddlers on the Yearbook thread.....

No wonder I can't stay on topic......I keep forgetting which thread I'm on!!!!!

Look out if the Ya Ya's show up......

Great Work Bambi! I just deleted my temp internet files and now I can see your handiwork.

All afternoon everyone was going on and on about your clippies, crowning you Queen, even Her Magnanimousness DF, and all I could see were little red x's where their old clips were. I started thinking about the Emperor's New Clothes and would I have to finally say they were naked

whew, talk about threads taking the wrong turn...

Anyway- I'm hoping for some PD to be able to stay at one of those Turret Balcony rooms at the Dolphin next month, #1.

DF- love your sense of humor. Also I now want to see THE BEAR!

Hi Paras4ri, there's some nice mint tea and petite beurre biscuits in the lurkers longe, some have chocolate on them. Help yourself.

:wave2: to all.

IS THAT for the SAFETY of the ANIMALS...or the ENTERTAINMENT of the SECURITY STAFF?:teeth: :hyper: (Your post on the WL nearly made me spit as well!)

DisneyDmbNut~Thanks! Glad you liked it. ::yes::

#1hockeymom~WOW...You are SO right! I recall that thread...:jumping1: :rotfl: :rotfl: That was over the edge, indeed. :teeth:

Tink...you TOO have a wry sense of humor.
:cool2:  (Emperor's new clothes!)

LOU~Don't you recall the Sorority House Declared FEBRUARY as UPSIDE DOWN :upsidedow MIX-UP Month?! This is why we are ALL OVER THE PLACE! You need to pay attention to the ENCRYPTEDMESSAGESABITMOREANDTHENYOUWILLBEABLETOKEEPUPWITHUSHEREINTHEHOUSE! :chat:

paras4ri~WELCOME!!

ON TOPIC~THE "CORNER KINGS WITH THE TURRET BALCONIES" ARE THE BEST! THESE OFFER A BIT MORE PRIVACY, AND ALSO A VIEW OF BOTH EPCOT AND MGM, ETC. THEY USED TO BE CALLED "EXECUTIVE STUDIOS" UNDER THE SHERATON (WHEN THE DOLPHIN OPENED). THEY ARE THE BEST FOR ROMANTIC GETAWAYS AND HONEYMOONS/ANNIVERSARIES! BE SURE TO ASK FOR THEM USING THE SPECIFIC TITLE LISTED ABOVE. ENJOY!!
