Jackie ~ It is correct a room in the far east wing on a high floor will give you an Epcot view. We were on the 14th. floor club level last October and we could see Illuminations at night. The view would have been better had we been facing east. YOu will love the Dolphin its a great resort :)

A little boy was killed in a dirt bike accident over this past weekend. He passed away yesterday morning. He was only 9 years old. Please pray for his family.... "The Royden's" and their sweet boy A.J. His sister is in my DD Ashley's class and A.J. was in elementary school with my other 2 DD's.... sad time for us here in Trenton...

Zurgswife ~ I am hoping your DD is doing better, please update when you can....

Debbie, You are NEVER lost...as you are RIGHT HERE in my heart! (and on my ADOPTION LIST, everyone is EQUAL!) ;)

Thanks for the kind words about DD and her new car! She is more excited than you can imagine. A classmate just received a new Red BMW 230 Kompressor yesterday for her 16th. It's very nice, (same price as the VW turbo), and she is eager to drive too! I believe "I" am more excited about the NEW car than DD....but don't let her know that! :p

Disbug~BTW...I believe I may Have somthing of yours...(LOL):
A GENUINE "DISBUG~

Mouseteacher~YES! I'm here[/b]! Just returned from the mall...and a nice cool 2-miler w/DD. It's a great time together, where we walk and chat about the day. I also bought 2 new thermostats today, as our originals were "acting-up" (as if they needed some HOLY WATER!). The temp (Digi) would fluctuate wildy, and reflect CRAZY readings in the home, causing the A/C unit to run excessively. Since we have TWO separate units (one for upstairs...one down), this was getting too much. Last PG&E statement was close to $700 (for one month!) , quite a bit off the usual. I bought two top of the line HONEYWELL (as I recalled the HONEYWELL house of INNOVENTIONS in EPCOT!!). Hope these do the TRICK. ^_^ Hope all is well at school, and you are enjoying your week. Thanks for listening. Now...I'll try to help Jackie.

Jackie~I can definitely assist you with specific room numbers and views. Please, PM me with the details of your desired room (Deluxe w/2 doubles, Corner KING with Turret Balcony, etc.). I'll give you floors and room numbers...for rooms with unobstructed views of Epcot (Balcony or no Balcony?). I'll be awaiting your message.

MOM POPPINS~How very sad. :( I'll say a special Prayer for him, his family and all the sweet children of God. Sometimes, life seems to get in the way, and we take our good fortune for granted. It is events such as this, which make us all take a step back...a deep breath...and truly REALIZE how Frail/Fragile "LIFE" is for each of us. It also proves we are "gifted" with our children's lives, and time...but their soul belongs to GOD. Bless you Robin, and your dear family during this trying time. I'm sure you are helping your DD's, with open conversation and loving hugs/kisses. I'll be sure to give DD some extra today, per your note. XO

Take care...each and everyone of you. You are all SPECIAL...and the world is a much BETTER place, with each of you here!

Madge...they don't think it has anything to do with an infection as there hasn't been any fever...Sorry I haven't posted...I've been to busy keeping up with the DIS soap opera...

"they" never met my daughter, LOL...she NEVER runs a fever with her ear infections...the ENT implied yesterday that maybe she was crying at the peds office last week, and that she didn't really have her 3rd infection since having tubes put in last February:rolleyes:

oops, sorry...this is about your DD and not mine, LOL....I'm so glad she is feeling better. maybe it was just a nasty virus!

where are you reading about the soap opera? you can e-mail me at mehearne@aol.com I'd love a link :)

on topic.....let's see....I love the hammocks near the beach at the Swan :)

Zurgs - despite what they may tell you - there is not always a fever with the infection, just as Madge said. Take it from the UTI pro-mom! DD normally runs about 97.8 - always a little low - with a UTI she would run anywhere from 97.8 to 100. Several times were NO fever at all. That's why it was so nice to have Dr's that were familiar with her. And once you become knowledgeable about it, even the ones in Indiana, Minnesota & every other stinking emergency room we were in actually do listen!!!

If they still make them, just try WalMart or Target - First Response (I think) makes or did make a UTI home test. I don't know if it is located near the pregnancy tests or not - but pharmacist should be able to direct you. I believe they were under $20 and we have a spare one in our closet just in case. Then she wouldn't have to be embarassed about going in a cup at the Dr's office. (DD's been there, done that, too many times!)

Best of luck again anyway!

Lauren - the cord IS in the room for laptop access? I don't need to purchase one or haul it along with?

Disbug -- your post really made me feel great about our upcoming Swan trip. Everything you mentioned is just what my dh and I love in a hotel.

zurgswife -- so glad to hear your dd had a good day! Even though I don't "know" you, I feel like I do. I've read so many of zurg's posts, including the whole Halloween trip report, which I adored. Please give dd an extra hug from me.

#1hockeymom -- LOL on your comment about ice rinks and power outages. My local rink was closed the weekend of the blackout due to, uh, meltage. :D

Everyone -- I feel like I know all of you! What a terrific group here on the S/D thread. All of you seem right on my wavelength, so I'm feeling great about our decision to stay at the Swan in December.

--miffy--

Zurgswife, I am so happy to see that your DD is better! I can only imagine how worried you have been. I hope it is all behind you now. I have been busy keeping up with the DIS "soap opera" too. For those that don't know about it, Webmaster CathyCanada and Webmaster Michelle have stepped down from their positions at DU. Attornies are now involved and they have been banned from the DIS. Pete did post that he had no choice and is sad about the decision. Sorry, I can't provide a link. CathyCanada and Webmaster Michelle will be missed.

DF, Your DD's first car sounds very cool. Did you mention the color of her VW Turbo? I'm glad to hear that all is well in Cali!

Hockeymom, I don't think you can go wrong with a Christmas or Easter visit. They are both great in their own way. The decorations at Christmas are fantastic though. I'm glad to hear your DD didn't get hurt when her car was hit. What next?! You are so busy these days!

Disbug, Have a great time back at WDW! Glad to hear your taxes are done! Can't wait to hear about your next adventure!

Madge, Let us know if you get an upgrade! Sending pixe dust! Have a great time with your family!

Miffy, You will love the Swan. The location is second to none! BTW, LOVE your name!!

Hi Mouseteacher and Ozzie!

Dreamflight! That is adorable! Another part of the Main Street Electrical Parade memory! Thanks for sharing him with us! (I am taking my bracelet to WDW. I will buy another charm and ask them to please help! I am usually a "can-do" type. But this has me currently stumped!)

miffy! Good for you.. I really don't think you will be disappointed. We are going back for the MNSSHP and even though we could have stayed nearer the MK, we are going to the Dolphin.

muffy! Thanks... you and miffy kind of sound like twins! miffy and muffy!:p

mompoppins... so sad about the little 9 YO Boy.. His family will be prayed for. You are so kind to try to help where you can.

ROOM WAVE TO #1HM, MT, OZ-E, madge, Jgates and all the rest! Have a great day!

zwife~ so glad all went well yesterday for your DD - now let's get a complete and speedy full recovery!

I, too, have been following the DIS soap opera. ;)

Off to work - the school day is about to begin - check in later!

Jgates -- At the Swan, the cord is right there by the lamp in a retractable round thing. All you need is your laptop. At the Hyatt, I typically have to dial in and I use my own phone cord for that. I get mine from the office, but I can't believe they would be very expensive if you had to buy one -- actually, a lot of companies give them away in little plastic containers with their name on it as a promo item.

Zurg's wife -- glad to hear that her symptoms are improving. Maybe the whole thing will just pass.

Dreamflight - I can't remember, but you are in Califonia, yes? Any recommendations for resorts in San Diego to take kids to? We are planning our spring break trip there I think. I am Starwood and Hilton gold, so if you are familiar with any of their properties, even better.

Thanks.

Lauren

Hi all.......Checking in before school.
Muffy........sounds like another soap opera has started. I hadn't heard anything about those 2 being let go. Please keep us posted. And we want details!
Z....glad your dd is better.....but some posters are skeptical....take care and keep a good eye on her, I know you will.
Muffy and Miffy........only here, on the Dis!
Off to school.......have a great day, all.

I just had a few questions and have posted them, but haven't gotten answers, so I thought I'd try once more before I put it up in general resorts questions. Thanks to anyone who knows the info and reponds!!

1. What difference, if any, is there between CL and standard room at the Dolphin,in terms of the actual room, not floor level.

2. Has anyone taken the Sheraton Vistana Villages Tour for 10,000 starpoints and how was it? Did it really only last 90 mins?

3. I know I have seen this before, but are there balcony rooms on CL, are there corner kings?

Thankyou for your help!!!!

I will post what I know from others, not first hand:
1. don't think so.....remodeling is starting at lower levels, if that makes a diff.
2. Yes, someone took that tour and said it was quite painless and worth the points. I couldn't go because my dh stayed home last trip and they said he needed to be there...bummer.
3.Someone stayed in a balcony room on CL at the Swan, don't know about the D, but don't think so and corner Kings are on the wings. You can see them in pics of the D.

Madge, Let us know if you get an upgrade! Sending pixe dust! Have a great time with your family!

I will! now that almost everything is packed, I am seriously kicking around taking the laptop....we'll see! if I do, y'all will be the first to know :) I really do need a vacation from my internet life, though (I am on 2 "Sept 2001" mommy e-mail loops)...if I take the laptop, I'll just get sucked into reading e-mails, LOL. If I don't take it, my AOL mailbox will be full, but I can live with that :)

on topic: I wonder what the crowds will be like at the parks. I suspect the S/D will be quiet through the weekend, but on Monday a HUGE convention starts and runs through Wednesday or Thursday  It's a computer convention--they host it ever year....

I am 98% packed...I have a list of what still needs to go in the suitcase...this is an odd feeling. I am NEVER this prepared. Something will get left behind or go wrong at the last minute....while I don't enjoy it, a vacation wouldn't be complete without that frenzied feeling! My brother is running behind on sending this DVD player, too:mad: if it doesn't come today, I'm not sure what we will do.....he thinks we are leaving tomorrow, so it should be here this afternoon.

have a great day

Madge

Getting excited for you. Selfishly, I hope you do take the laptop. I never really got sucked into the email, just used it during down times. If you have any kids that still nap, might want to bring it along. Of course, it is a pain to schlep so completely understand if you don't want to bring it. I have to say though that sharing my trip real time with all of you was a lot of fun.

Glad that the packing is almost done. Don't panic, even if you forget something, they do have stores in Orlando.

I can't imagine that the computer convention will have that much impact at the parks. It will impact the hotel, but hopefully you won't even notice. Just a bunch of people running around with name tags on -- not a big deal, especially when you can escape to the Magic Kingdom.

Have a magical trip --

Lauren

Lunch time - just catching up on posts!

miffy and muffy --- cute :) Great S/D team. ;)

Gotta go ---- will be back soon.

DD went to school today....seems to be feeling better...did end up with a long nap yesterday afterschool...so she definatly is not close to being 100% but it at least seems we are going in the right direction..

jpgates
despite what they may tell you - there is not always a fever with the infection
..Don't I know...my kids never get fevers with infections...that's why I try to be admit when I think they are sick and arent' showing an infection...

Miffy thanks for the good thoughts

MOM POPPINS prayers said for the little boy and his family..how very sad...:(:(

glad your dd is better.....but some posters are skeptical....take care and keep a good eye on her, I know you will.
I also am septical...so we are taking it day by day....

madge glad to hear your preparing is going well...I'm so jealous but only about 83 days for me....

Zwife ~ Thanks for the update. :D

Mom Poppins ~ how very sad - our children are so precious, I can't imagine the horror of losing a child. P and PD for your friends.

Dis and madge - I can feel the excitement in your posts - I am sooo envious. I keep hoping we can plan a trip this summer but won't be able to even begin to know for sure until the spring. I wish you a happy and magical time.

Muffy! Hi there. Am I correct that you're named after the adorable stuffed bear? My sister is a huge Muffy fan/collector.

"Miffy" is the Dick Bruna character. For anyone who's interested, here's the official Dick Bruna website: http://www.miffy.com/ where you can see pictures of Miffy (called Nintje in the Netherlands, where she originated). I have no proof of this, but I'm convinced that Miffy is the inspiration for Hello Kitty (whom I also love). My dh and I discovered Miffy when we were in Japan 8 years ago. And, no :( we didn't go to Disney Japan when we were there. What were we thinking?

madge Have a fantastic time on your trip! I love seeing countdown clocks in the single digits. I can't believe you're packed already. Very admirable! We usually finish packing 10 minutes before the cab to the airport shows up. :p I'm not kidding!

zurgswife Thinking of you and your dd. Hope she's having a good day...and you too.

I love this thread!

I decided this time, I wasn't going to be running around crazy--I might miss that feeling tomorrow, LOL...I still need to get the house cleaned up.

I also need to figure out plan B for the DVD player...it did NOT come in today's mail and I have my doubts that I will see it tomorrow:rolleyes:
