Madge...Its sunday evening and still not any better...we have already decided no school tomorrow...I'm going to call the darn Dr. office tomorrow and demand that they see her...this is an office we just switched too. and I'm none too happy....never told me she had pneumonia, and keep telling me to wait and see how she feels...well it's been 10 days since cough has subsided and she is full of headaches, stomach pains, and feels like she is going ot throw up, and sweats and looks white as a sheet some times.....vent over...

Honeychild we will be in the epcot area that same time...can't wait...we won't be at the Dolphin on NYE will have switched back to the BWV by then...but NYE in the World is great we are planning doing the evenig in Epcot....

You may find different! Rent him for $8 and then you can tell if you must have him forever!

Thanks for tip Disbug...I think we will try this first before we buy...

zurgswife~ You are so welcome! About that dr. office, I would be looking for ANOTHER new dr. office pretty soon. JMHO, but 10 days is a long time to let something "develop"! You must be worried sick, poor mom! You are doing the right thing for your DD... don't worry about being a "gentle, but insistent" pain in their collective behinds!

:Pinkbounc To the Room: Doin' the happy dance! Got half of my suitcase packed! Now I just need to hunt down the AP and find my Halloween costume. Trip to "Tar'shay" might be in order! A short sleeve Halloween shirt might be just the ticket!

On topic: The Grotto pool has a wonderful alcove underneath the waterfall where you can remain out of the sun (if you desire) and listen to the "rhythmn of the fallin' rain"!

Disbug~Where can I get the Pal Mickey "free-for-a-day" coupon? Is it available to anyone? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Enjoy your upcoming trip!

Free, one day rental coupons are given out to DVC members in their "welcome home" packets when checking in. They expire 9/30. I think Disbug rented DVC points on her last stay and received member perks.

My kids really liked it (on our recent Labor Day Trip) but I wasn't willing to pay $50 for it. I probably would've bought it for $30 though. LOL

DARN!!! I was hoping to rent it...maybe they will reinstate the rental coupon after 9/30 for us DVCers traveling after that date...

I'm on my way back to the Drs now....very frustrated!! I'll let you know how it goes....

Quick Monday morning post -

Zurgswife - hope things get better for your daughter; we're all thinking of you.

DF99 - didn't know you were from Boston originally. I'm looking forward to going back this Sunday.

Ozzie - Cards take 2 of 3 from Houston and help the Cubs! A sportscaster here said "what's next? Dogs and cats living together??" (With apologies to Bill "Peter Venkman" Murray.)

Mteacher - thanks for letting me know the Bostonian preference of "North End". Now if I can just get the accent down...

Lou - please post the link. I don't know if I'll get the sound, but I might. I think it's just streaming fiels they block here at work. Else I'll listen at home.

To everyone going soon - have a great trip.

We are actually thinking about a short trip in February. Long story - but the short version is my wife's sister really wants to go but only if we go with them. My wife has tentatively said yes - she's not a big Disney fan but loved the Swan/Dolphin. Assuming the weather is reasonable at that time, the two sisters will have a great time hanging out while the "kids" (including the men) hit the theme parks. Can't believe we may be going back so soon. My daughter and I really wanted to see the Goodnight Kiss the past summer and missed it - so maybe we'll get another chance. And Mickey's Philarmagic will be open also. I'll let you all know if it works out.

On topic - am I correct in that the Dolphin has smaller beds than the Swan? Also - can anyone compare the malts in the Dolphin fountain to the ones at Beaches and Cream? Finally - anyone go in February (President's Day weekend?) Is it crowded?

Happy Monday,
Bill

zurgswife I agree with Disbug...10 days is entirely too long to "wait and see" a mom's instinct is NEVER wrong. it is times like this I am reminded how blessed I am with my pediatrician's office. after 10 years, everyone knows me there :) our beloved Dr. Padgett retired last year, but his parter stayed and she is fabulous.

I can't wait to hear that your DD is fially on the mend!

on (Disney) topic--I thought I read that anyone can rent Pal Mickey for the day...they take a credit card imprint and if you don't return him, then you've bought him :)

Disbug you are much farther along than I am...I'm thinking about packing but should really be cleaning. things did not go as well as I hoped over the weekend....

off to call and check on my reservation...I ned to drop a night at the beginning, so I'm going to ask about a comp upgrade then :::fingers crossed::::

I have been to WDW the last 4 years over President's Day Weekend. It is crowded ... most places are manageable and even no problem ... with the exception of the Magic Kingdom on Sunday. It is a mob scene! Saturday is packed as well at MK. But on Sunday it is very hard to accomplish getting on many rides and attractions because of the very long lines and waits.

The weather is usually lovely!:D Going at that time of year is great but I would recommend visiting the MK (if that is a park you want to visit) on a day other thatn the actual weekend.

Zurgswife ... hope your DD begins feeling better soon. It is soooooooo frustrating to hear the doctor say let's wait and see how it goes. That is one of the times when I think "Mom knows best"! I understand your frustration ... let the doctor know.

Wishing great trips to everyone leaving soon for WDW!!!:)

Zurgswife ~ I hope your DD is feeling better soon. Please update us when you can.

WW52 Bill ~ I hope your trip works out for you. Your wife is not a disney fan  I have converted my DH :) If his "buddies" could only see the picture in my signature with him in his mouse ears :) We are going in February but not until the very end and the first 2 weeks of March.

Disbug ~ Do you really think Baby Kirk looks like me? Have you been to WDW solo before? I can't imagine not having to push a stroller :)

Madge ~ Your trip and Disbug's are really close now. I hope you have a great time :) I am thinking of using our breakfast vouchers at Chef Mickeys.

My DD Monica (5) has to go for immunizations today.... Hopefully it won't be to bad, its such a hard age for shots.

On topic: The boat dock is located between the Swan/Dolphin and is within equal walking distance from either resort :)

Sorority wave to everyone else :D

DR update....the 4th in the series of drs in this practice that we have seen...seemed a little more informative....explained that she could have had either a colapsed lung or pnuemonia...which is why the 2 dr said they weren't sure....and 3rd dr was adament...it was a matter of diagnosis....he did show me what the chest tech wrote...they did right either or....

Any how he doesn't believe her symptoms now are connected with the prior condition....he sent her for blood work and a CAT scan....he doesn't think much will be on the CAT scan but just to be sure (headaches and vomiting)....spent hours at the blood lab...so slow...so...bottom line is no answers...but he did say try to send her to school for small amounts of time...see what she can handle....GREAT!!! One frustrated mom here....

well, hopefully the blood work will give you some peace of mind....while I don't know what you're going through, I "know". sick babies cause the worst kind of worry, ever (my baby hasn't started driving yet :) ). Please keep us updated {{hugs}}

zurgswife - at least the CAT will eliminate some possibilities. We went through something similar with my oldest - 14 at the time. Fever, dizzy - thought it was some type of infection and went up the ladder with stronger and stronger antibiotics. Finally the senior doctor in the practice noticed something in his eyes. Unfortunately, it had the symptoms of a brain tumor - we had an MRI and thankfully that was not the problem. After seeing a specialist it was determined it was a buildup in spinal fluid. A spinal tap was done (though moderately risky) and he was almost instantly better. Saw the specialist many times over the next few years but no recurrance. That was nearly 8 years ago. It is really tough on the nerves not knowing what's wrong. My thoughts have turned to prayers for you and your daughter.

zurgswife ~ thanks for the update, we will be praying for you and your family :D

for a speedy recovery :D

Sending pixie dust and prayers that it turns out to be nothing. Hopefully all the test will alliviate your fear and concern. I know when our children are sick it is very hard on mom. After all we are mom's first!

Disbug and madge, have a great time in the world! I have 90 some odd days to go! I just figured out that this will be our last visit at Christmas for a while! DD starts high school next year and we will have to go during Feb. Hopefully we can get a second trip in before that. Until then i will have to live vicariously through these threads! ;)

On topic: It's never fun to have sick kids. But, if illness hits the family, don't hesitate to call the front desk and ask for help. On one of our trips we had to call in a Dr. It was pricey, but a better option for us considering the hour was 12:30am. As far as I know, all Disney hotels have access to house-call Dr's. I would bet this includes the Swan Dolphin.

Mrs. Zurg.....I pm'ed you re: your daughter.
Hockeymom - glad your DD is ok.
Madge and Disbug - have a great trip.
WW52 - ooh, an unexpected trip.......wonderful!

that told me NOT to check www.spg.com ??? whoever it was...you are so right! I called to modify my reservation this morning, spoke to an efficient, but not very "magical", CM named Paul. He took care of modifying my arrival date--told me upgrades are determined at check-in, which I already knew.

anyway--I go to the *wood site to make sure the dates are correct and discover my rate is almost TRIPLE what it should be...

one call took care of it--apparently it is noted 3 times on my reservation what the price should be, LOL...I am assured that won't be a problem :::whew:::

on topic: mailing a package to the Dolphin is very easy :)

Zurgswife...

I join with the others in praying for your DD. That sounds so awful!

I once had a "mysterious" illness and every test known to man was done on me. They even sent me to an Oncologist. It turned out to be a severe drug reaction. I had been on strong antibiotics about 10 days before. I hope the Dr.s' have ruled that out. Drug reactions can do weird things to your body that the Drs' do not always recognize.

On a happier note to Mom Poppins. I must agree that Kirk Jr. looks exactly like you!! I am not one of those people who frequently "sees" a family resemblance either. With you two it was quite striking...something about the smile I think
:)

Disbug...you dated a crew chief? Wow, it's a small world. Since you live in Florida maybe you can come watch us race. We will race in Orlando March 12-14. and then do the Gator Nationals in Gainsville March 18-21. You can come relive your wilder days!

zwife~ As a mom, I know what you are going through. About 2 years ago our older DS was experiencing excruciating headaches and nausea - so unlike him. We thought it was all the excitement of graduating and the stress of anticipating college and his close knit group of friends would soon be going separate ways. So... to make along story short - we took him to the ER (of course it was a Saturday) and they did a CAT scan and said they saw a mass - could be brain tumor they said. They ordered an MRI which had to be done off-site. You can imagine the terror we were feeling. As it turned out, the CT scan machine was malfunctioning due to some cause and showed a shadow mimicking the "tumor". The wait for the MRI results was a lifetime! Of course, it showed no abnormalities. Never want to go through that again!

I wish you PD *************** for a get well fast!

Lou~ Thanks for the link - I love the EP music. Dancing pants were cool! :smooth:

madge~ don't check spg site - ask upon check-in! The magic was working overtime for us this past July. As you may remember from my posts, the CM checking us in upgraded us to a Jr. Suite.

ww52~ the accent isn't hard to do! Just don't pronounce Rs as in pahk the cah in Hahvahd yahd. ;)
DW not a Disney fan? Get working on her - I converted my DH a number of years ago. He's not as addicted as me (but then again only we DISers are really that fanatical) but loves our trips.

LOL, I wasn't looking for an upgrade...I was just checking to make sure they had the dates correct for our reservation :)
