shamrock30~Wow...I thought it was still on. I guess perhaps not. Since I'm never there for my BD (I was at the PBH last summer!), I'm clueless. It was $99 for the eve. Call the front desk and ask...just for the "fun" of it. Maybe someone will have different informtation...you never know.

You'll LOVE the Dolphin, as much/more than the Swan. I too, love the Swan....but will always hold the Dolphin near/dear. Most of the memories of our summers together are "locked" safely inside the walls of this resort. Our laughter echoes down the halls...as we "hop" from blanket to blanket, trying NOT to fall in the HOT LAVA! LOL...we have FUN everywhere we go, NOT just in the parks!

ww52~What a heartwarming description, with sentiments for my City (Beantown). I can smell the boiled hotdogs and baked brown bread from here (Sat eves....right?). Mmmm. Yes, it is a WONDROUS city, one of my all time favs. Thank you...for taking me (virtually) home.

madge I ADORE your CANDOR! (Telling DB you are leaving earlier than you are...to insure safe arrival of the DVD player!). You will LOVE it! I've had one for a while now, but paid more than $1000 for it through Hammacher Schlemmer~I love this company~(http://www.hammacher.com/publish/65681.asp?promo=el_video) ! It's a Panasonic, comes with all the connections and remote control...plus we bought the leather carrying case, extra batt and adaptor. The battery works like a champ, and maintains a charge for MORE than 3 hours. It's VERY sleek and super-thin. We bring it on nearly every trip, and carry a few flicks with us. Always fun. I used DD's BOSE noise cancellation II headphones this past summer on the plane (when she was listening to her sony MP3 player) with this player. Those headphones are incredible. It's so much less cumbersome than a laptop...and easier to move around. ENJOY!

DD is still sick....terrible headaches, pains in the abodmin, clammy, sweaty, pale at times, low fever at times...called the DR early last week about symptoms...they said if the continue to call in about a week....I called this AM....nurse says why don't you give it the weekend.....AARRRR!!! The pnuemonia seems to be gone but other symptoms are keeping a rather on the go 7th grader on the couch.....she has been laying on the couch since Thursday after school.....

OZZIWAGS....thankfully the homework isn't too bad and she goes to a very small Church school Only 19 girls in her seventh grade class....and the teacher is very understanding...and she is very bright....

I just want her to get back with her class....Due to some health problems last year she missed 10 weeks of school so, she was really chomping at the bit to return this year....


On a brighter note to day is my DS's 11th Birthday.....So, hard to believe that he is already a preteen....so different then when my daughter reached this stage.....girls are so much more mature then boys...LOL

DF OOOOOO!!!!! I can't wait for the arrival....DH will be very happy and surprised again....he loves that stuff.

OK...restaurant poll/opinons....trying to decided for NYE (doesn't look like they are doing Buffet in Millinimum Village) Rose and Crown or San Angels Inn....I have very picky eaters and these two looked like kid options were the best....any thoughts....

It's PLAYING as I type!! LOL.... I have this parade on my shelf! Each piece in the series LIGHTS, but does not play any Music. Now...when I sit here in the office and activate the "parade" pieces in the dark, I'll play your music...and feel as though I'm THERE!! Thanks so much, Lou. You are very special.

Just a QUICK stroll out back of the Swan/Dolphin...is the FANTASIA GOLF Gardens! What a WONDERFUL way to spend an afternoon. We have had some MAGICAL times there...and always manage to LAUGH more than PLAY (if possible). ^_^

My pick for NYE would be "ROSE and CROWN"! Excellent menu for picky eaters...delicious fare for everyone, and the VIEW on the lower terrace can't be beat.

Hello all! Yes, back safe and sound from San Francisco. Next trip out there is not until October and after that I will be getting down to Texas.

Trying to think if I have any s/d tips to add. Hmmm. Oh, I know - plenty of towels down by the pools. No need to bring your own down. What else? No need to wait for icecream at Beaches and Cream, plenty of great icecream creations at the Dolphin Fountain. Like flavorings added to your coffee? They are available free at the little coffee place downstairs at the Swan. Like turn down service? Just call housekeeping and put in a standing request and they will take care of everything down to the two chocolates on each pillow.

So how was that for staying on topic?

zurgswife~ I'm with DF on the NYE choice between Rose & Crown and Meh-hee-co! Although, the atmosphere is great, the food can be just "okay" at times... The R&C has a wonderful chicken leek pie (which is a part of a sampler I believe). Many people swear by their fish and chips.

I personally think the Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining in Japan is fab! We always seem to have fun sitting around the "cooking table" and watching our food prepared by the Japanese chef. My kids always loved it there.

We also had fun in Morrocco eating and watching the belly dancers. They let the kids come up and dance. You just can't go wrong just about anywhere down there... I think when something is not working, Disney keeps trying until they get it right.

disbugWe test drove a japanese restaurant around here in hopes that the kids would enjoy it and we could try the on in WDW....Well the kids enjoyed the show but ate none of the foood...and expensive test drive...LOL

Good evening, all! Just returned fom the block party - the bugs were a killer! It was fun. The young couples are still there with their young children having a great time. We old folks came home - getting late for us!

Disbug~ You have just 7 days to go! I'm sooo envious - think of me as you walk by the east wing. Look up to the 6th floor, last balcony on the outer end of the wing and wave to my jr. suite for me!

DF~ I'll forgive you for posting the Yankees baseball. I've given up on the Red Sox overtaking them. We're concentrating on the wild card spot over Seattle. LOL

zwife~ I have dined at the FF twice and really enjoyed it both times - the first time was for Thanksgiving dinner and we had the traditional meal. Even our DSs liked the restaurant.

It is so frustrating at times dealing with the MD office. I hope your DD rallys and feels better.

zurgswife FF, huh? Good choice! I was in a state of indecision about whether to choose FF or Spoodles on our last trip back in July/Aug. Went to Spoodles and loved it. FF is next on my list to try! Their menu sounds awesome.

mteach~ I am going a little crazy here trying to recover from DH being gone to the Disabilities Convention, trying to do our taxes and keep up with the 3 kids and their activities. I am going solo for the first part of the week. Kind of a recon trip for future planning. Then the rest of the gang will join me at the end of the week for the MNSSHP. We have reserv's for Lib Tree Tav at 5:15 PM, Oct 3rd. I hope that gives us enough time. This party will be a first for us. Wave hello to Lou for us!

Yesterday was cleaning day around here....as much cleaning as I can get done with 3 kids who did NOT want to help We also had soccer and DH was called into work unexpectedly.....while he's home today, I am going to start packing. I can get twice as much done if he's home to play with the kids

it actually sunk in this morning when I saw my countdown...YAY! I can't believe it's time for the kids to have their Fall break already, especially when some of you are "just" starting up again

disbug that should give you plenty of time I'm not sure if they will "hold" you at the LTT when you're through or send you over to Fantasyland or Tomorrowland (I have read both) to wait until the official start of the party. We have PS at the LTT and CP for 5:00 on 5 October, we can't decide which one just yet! Anna is nuts about Pooh, but we aren't sure how she's going to be with the characters....

on topic--the laundry is at the Dolphin, right? Near the pool? I know someone here used it this summer....

mouseteacher! Solo! Yep, it always sounds heavenly... but inevitably I will reach a point when I wish they were all here with me! That's why it is good they are joining me later. I can look forward to sharing the new things I discovered with them.

If I don't start packing, I'm going to start panicking so off to take care of business. BTW, "on topic", the Swan has a very nice gift shop. Don't miss it... and be sure to pick up a Swan Resort pin to add to your collection!

Does the gift shop in the Swan have autograph books and thick pens? If not, does anyone know the closest shop that has them? I hope to buy these things before we go to the parks. And has anyone bought a Pal Mickey? He looks so cute but for the price, I want to make sure my DS (5 years old) would enjoy him for more than a couple of days. Any opinions on Mickey? Thanks!

You can buy the autograph books and pens at the Swan gift shop! I have only seen a pal Mickey from a distance, so I can't help you with that question. I am sure someone here on the board will be able to!

Never underestimate the quality of sleep you will get with a heavenly bed! I truly don't know how people are able to do the parks all day long on a normal Disney bed!

Oatmeal soap is much better than Mickey soap.

There are dining options with Disney characters at the S/D.

We'll be staying at the SD from 12/27 - 1/2. Does anyone have experience with NYE at the hotel? We are two families (4 adults, 4 kids - ages 2-12. ) Do they have anything special? Dinner suggestions, etc. Thanks!

We had a free coupon for a one day rental. We enjoyed Mick for the day we had him, but I was not tempted to purchase for $50. DD2 held him while we strolled around and DD9 played some of the games. DD15 laughed at his corny jokes. But, I guess I just didn't need one more thing to keep up with!

You may find different! Rent him for $8 and then you can tell if you must have him forever!
