disbug....call hotel directly again. Just to check on your ressies and requests. If no satisfaction, call Andrew, even if you have to do it in the wee hours. I am like you and want to see things before I plunge! Keep me posted. I tend to think the website is not accurate either. You could even contact them, if you want. But the hotel is where it needs to be correct.

disbug ~ the web site won't even let me see my "view detail". I just made a call to the S/D to check on my ressies and see if my upgrade went through. No dice - the reservationist said it is showing a King room non-smoking. I mentioned my request for a comp upgrade to a balcony and she said, "I'm sure they will try to accomodate you if they can upon check-in." Oh well - c'est la vie!

I just took a break from ironing and packing to DIS a bit. We are getting on and off thunderstorm today through Thursday. Are the gods getting me ready for Orlando weather? LOL

Have a WONDERFUL time in the world of magic. It's so hard waiting to go again, but I feel like Baby Kirk is to small to travel to WDW yet, not to mention the heat. He is up to 6 pounds and will be 2 months next week, where does the time go......

Dreamflight: I love reading your post from inside the magic , I got your PM thanks again Have a MAGICAL time for the rest of your trip.

Did any of you read the thread about Spaceship Earth possibly closing to become a roller coaster.... tell me it is NOT so.... If anyone hears any information from the CM's working the ride please let us know.

Is the Dolphin scheduled to be completely renovated by next year? Are they changing the carpet and theme in the hallways or is it just the rooms?

So sorry I sent our bad weather to the east! Thankfully, the storms have been quick and relatively painless. The sirens go off, the rain and hail shows up, the tornadoes stay in the clouds, then the rain leaves and the storms pass. Yesterday I was a bit nervous as ds was down the street at a friends house when the tornado siren went off. A quick check to the clouds while dialing his location three doors down, I hurried him home to what I considered a safer location. We not only have a full basement,(the neighbors don't) but I figure if our house has been here since the 1880's, it will be here for a lot longer!

It sounds like DF is having a fabulous time! I love reading all the posts from everyone's trips. It is truly like I am still on vacation! Maybe I should get DH to tip mousekeeping at home and the job would become easier? LOL

My only concern is the severe scattered thunderstorms we are getting through Thursday - so unusual for our area to get them over a successive period of days. I hope our take-off is not delayed.

Anyone know if there is any way to check and see if there are any conventions (and what kind) going on when you stay at the S/D? Just curious but know that some hotels are very hush-hush about this. Anyone know?

As a longtime lurker I gathered some wonderful tips and ideas from all of you which made our recent trip to the Swan one to remember. Based on this thread I joined SPG, got the AMEX, upgraded to gold, used govt rate then switched to recipe club (couldn't pass up f&b credit), had enough points to do two nights cash and points, got upgrade to balcony room and then an additional comp upgrade to CL. My family was very impressed and my DH didn't mind all the time on the computer after he saw how knowledgeable I'd become.

disnurse - you asked whether hallways at the Swan had been changed from the beach theme. I believe they are currently working on changing these areas to better match the newly renovated rooms. We were on 7 and it was still the old style but one day the elevator opened on 2 and I noticed the hallways were totally different.

hockeymom - we were there the same time as you, just down the hall. I saw your son and daughter having evening snacks on CL and want to say they were very polite and well mannered especially without any adult supervision. Your daughter is also very beautiful. I couldn't agree with you more about Thabo. He made us feel so welcome and joked with my son and daughter who just had to have chocolate milk each evening that the chocolate milk cow was going to come find them for drinking all her milk.

MomPoppins - hard to beleive that Baby Kirk is nearly 2 months old - where does the time go? Good question on the rehabs - we'll be there during Feb vacation from school and hope that the work is all done by then- is that wishful thinking?????

We are going to the Swan this December for a conference my DH is attending!! Whooo Hooo!! Gotta love work, huh? Our 9 y.o. son will also be coming with us and we'll have tons of fun while hubby is 'networking' We will be staying a few extra days so DH will also be able to have some fun time.

I've shown my DS pictures of the pool. He's thrilled as I knew he would be. Swimming is always a highlight of our vacation.

I'm excited to have a 'hotel bed' that might be comfortable! We have a Select Comfort air bed at home and I must say, it is 'heavenly' Whenever we go to sleep at a hotel, I say, "This bed ain't no Select Comfort." LOL
Does anyone else here have a Select Comfort bed? If you do, how does it compare to the Heavenly beds at the Swan?

I should be able to get to the end of this thread by the weekend! LOL

Whoo hoo!! Just came in from E-RIDE, it's 3:16 am (That nixes my EE @ Epcot tomorrow am...like I would EVER do EE, but heh...I get credit for the THOUGHT!). Space Mountain broke-down, with car loads of folks trapped on the RAILS! We jumped on the people mover, and rode 3x just to see the "action". All the lights were on...and security & techies were roving the track. Exciting stuff. We rode AO, Buzz, AE, and the HM...then SM, and 4X on BTMRR! WEEeeeee! Loads of fun. Also enjoyed an icee, galactic gobbler and some Cheese fries @ Casey's Corner (plus a baseball soda...as if we don't have a cupboard full of those things!).

Saw "Thabo" today in CL. He bids a very gracious "hello" to everyone! He's the most proficient and polite person, fully fits the image of hospitality and Disney! Thanks, Thabo. Hope you are able to ride MISSION SPACE on your day off tomorrow. See you again, soon.

MOM POPPINS...You are "WELCOME". Hope all is going well with you & baby Kirk (& the entire fam). NEWS ABOUT RENOVATIONS: I had a talk with "Rob" today. He's in charge of PM housekeeping, and has been here 13 years this past June (since it opened). The Swan Took just under one year to complete the renovations. Since the Dolphin has twice the number of rooms...they are predicting it will take two years to finish. They are TWO months into the rooms here, and between the 4-5th floors. SOME of the CL rooms are complete. They are ahead of schedule, yet it will be a WHILE before it's DONE! YES...the halls (carpet and walls) will be changed as well. I'll miss the whimsical design, and hope the replacement is comparable.

Quesstion Does the Recipe rate apply to the Dolphin also.

if so does it not make sense to book at that rate even though I get Goverment rate. It is a nice rebate for food and we usually eat at the hotel once or twice?

also, because of the GREAT INFO from this board we have amassed over 50,000 AE points. Thinking of doing the 5th nite free routine. opinions?

last quesstion if all of the above are a go can I book the recipe and then do the 5th free night. In essence do a combine Opinions
