NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Does anyone know the weather normally for early to mid May in the evenings?

We are starting to pack, & I am unsure how cool, or hot it will be. Can anyone help?

Thanks!:D

""Oh my goodness!" said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! I must go and tell the king."

LOL....Chicken little was a BRAVE little bird! :p No, 30 days is not too early to send in a request. I would be sure to follow-it with another reminder (just as Mouseteacher suggeted), about a week prior to your arrival. ;)

Gilligan...Funny story about the alarm! I have learned from "past" experience, (and yes, this includes the Dolphin), to ALWAYS bring a nice set of earplugs for everyone in our party when we travel. Sometimes, the resort will be conducting CHECKS on the alarm system (with the Fire Department, etc.) and the sound is near-deafening! When they conduct "tests", they remind everyone via PA. There is no need to leave, or go to the lawn, etc. Last summer, the Dolphin conducted 3 such "tests" and the ear plugs proved extremely beneficial. DD merely used her Sony MP3...and was reading during the entire thing. DH and I watched some Closed Caption tele...and relaxed. Thanks for the reminder...and the humorous touch. Glad you had such a fabulous time. I hate to see the "tan" fade. DD loves to use the room key, too. She rushes ahead to magically OPEN the door for us. It's the simple things in life, which seem to give so much pleasure. ;)

csmommy...I have no idea, as when we travel in July/August (mainly), it's HOT all the time! LOL.

:)

csmommy, I was wondering this myself, as we're heading down for Memorial Day week. The Weather Channel's website lists the average high as 88, average low as 66 and the mean temperature of 77. :sunny: Not too shabby, though it's always a safe bet to plan for a thunderstorm in the afternoon.

Gilligan, I laughed out loud when I read your "alarm clock" aka fire alarm story. Definitely something we would have done as well. :p Good idea on the ear-plugs Dreamflight. These are also very handy to offset the "toot" of the Friendship Boat horns, if one has stayed out a bit too late the previous evening (especially in the Corner King rooms which protrude directly in front of the lake).

DF ~ Thanks for the pic! You and disnurse are so sweet and thoughtful.

I have collected, over the years on my trips to the World, the bisque figurines of the characters as well as the larger ones depicting scenes from Disney animation films; e.g., Snow White kissing the top of Dopey's head and Alice under a tree with the Cheshie cat perched high in it. Of course, one of my favorites is teacher Minnie.

A few years ago, I spent the Memorial Day weekend in Disney. It was certainly hot although the humidity was not as oppressive as July/August. But, it was hot and we dressed just as if it were July/August.

yes gilligan I was there. I didn't hear the fire alarm though, are you sure it was monday?? We checked in on the 13th, doubt 4 of us would sleep thru it, glad I did if i did though. Anyone know when i should expect my stay points to appear on spg?

DF,
We checked out of the Dolphin on Sat. and my points appeared on Monday. They did not deduct the points I was charged for the club level upgrade yet. Do the deductions take longer to get posted? I'm just hoping maybe they wont charge me for those points because of room changes and the color challenged room, but maybe it just takes longer for the points to be subtracted.

Hi friends,
Don't know what happened, but I have been having trouble logging in and not getting my notices, etc. I hope this message gets through.
My little monsters.......you are really goooood! I am so proud! I really loved the Nurseminnie! WTG disnurse. This is more like me:

I'm getting no "Your girl-friends have posted" emails and the DW is in AL with me in this (starwood) hotel and nothing to do.

I need some magic...

Dust...

...or around Epcot in Beer. :)

BTW

My oldest boy (3) burst into tears when my mom and dad left the new home. Boy I miss them. :(

Hey - don't make that Chicken mad! **** fights are still legal in OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DF ~ great background for disnurse and other RNs!

ozzie ~ I haven't learned how to find other graphics/pictures and post them! You need to teach me THAT one - DF and disnurse are ahead of me in that department. LOL Love the tennis game, too.

Disnurse - we were on the 2nd floor, and only the bottom floors were evacuated, so maybe the alarm didn't ring for you?? No idea what caused it, but it wasn't a drill. I told my DS that maybe somebody had burned the toast and set the alarm off. He was happy with that, as he's had experience of Mummy doing something similar at home. (Nice to know the smoke detector works!)

Still having password and logging on problems. But here I am for the moment!
Mouseteacher.....posting clipart is the same as photos......highlight, right click, click on properties, highlight url, right click, copy, go to post and IMG.....
Sometimes you have to save that clipart and upload it into imagestation to get it to work.

Oh what a beautiful morning! I finally got my 5000 bonus starwood points, & checked the scale & have lost 5 lbs in 1.5 weeks!

I am thinking that I would like to request a balcony room with a view & CL privileges. Any room #'s for the Swan that you love?

Thanks!

csmommy,

I just read your post regarding the weather in May. For years we vacationed in May at WDW. I always packed a sweater or sweatshirt and slacks for everyone just in case the temperature dropped in the evening and I don't think we ever used them. Generally speaking, the days were lovely, there was a shower in late afternoon and the evenings were perfect. We now travel in August and September and the weather is very unpredictable. A few years ago, we spent 8 days in WDW in September and it rained from the minute we arrived until we departed.

Thanks for the background, I just put it on my office computer, the kids will get a kick out of it. Gilligan glad to hear i didn't sleep thru the alarm, going down 18 flights wuld not have been too fun! So far my stays or points haven't showed up but it isn't quite 2 weeks. In the past my stay showed up immediately.

You MUST watch the SPG account, and insure your points are properly credited and processed. :)

mom23guys2...I'm hoping right along with you! :p It's always nice to receive a COMP, especially AFTER you leave the property. Hopefully, for all you endured with the COLOR-WILD room, they will overlook the point fee/deduction! Keep your fingers crossed.

Ozzie...hope all is okay, and you are able to access us without a problem! ;) I am having trouble seeing your picture. I see the "sorry..." notice instead. Can you amend this?

RobMax... You mean "FIGHTING COCKBIRDS"...not little ole' "Chicken Little"?! She's a Hen~bird, assertive/strong-minded too perhaps, but NEVER violent! (LOL). Hard to fathom it's still LEGAL to fight these beautiful creatures in such an appallingly inhumane fashion in ANY state.

I hope you are having some fun by now. Sorry about the little guy (burst into tears...). Do you have CL? Just take a sip of a beer, while you "imagine" yourself trapsing around Epcot. It's the next best thing to BEING there!

Just a few pictures of our "HOME AWAY FROM HOME"...for those of us with IMPENDING journeys/trips/vacations! ;)
