NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

I have always been under the impression that the base rate at a hotel is for 2 adults. I think that I would call the Swan directly and ask.

As soon as DS comes home from school our odyssey will commence. I just got off the phone with starwood & received this:
2 Queen Beds
Room Features: Club Room Non-Smoking, Concierge Level, Continental Brkfst, Evening Hors D'Oeuvres, Turndown Service, Whimsical Themed Room Loctated On Royal Beach Club Floors With Access To The Private Royal Beach Club Lounge.

Special Requests:
*SPG UPGRADE* GTS RQ PARK VIEW ROOM AND BALCONY IF POSSIBLE

All for 1,000 points per night!

Thanks to all who have helped & inspired me. I will report when we return.

csmommy........HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP....post upon return!
piper........I think Jay is correct......two adults in a room should not be charged extra fee. Over two you are. We had 4 adults in our jr. suite at Christmas and if we hadn't been platinum would have been charged for both. We had a roll away and weren't charged for that either, and we had the resort fee waived. Perks for platinum can't be beat! I think you should call DU back and ask again about that fee, explaining 'your understanding'.

You do not have to say you are a Starwood AMEX card holder, etc. Just say "Platinum". This should give you GOLD status.

and gold status will give me....upgrade to CL priv with my resort balcony room (hopefully)? late checkout? anything else?

20 weeks from today....so far, but not really....

...fellow S/D addicts!!! Just stopped by to let you know I'm still "kickin' it"....DF99, tried to pm you but your message box is "FULL"!

Well, looks like we MAY be going to WDW after all, this summer(ASMo, unfortunately, but I suppose it's better than NOTHING!:D )

I hooked up with the "Fairytale Pkg"...just out of curiosity, I called DC on Monday to get a price on ASMo for 3 rooms /7 nites for 4 adults & 3 children, including UPH and was quoted $4,810.00. I called the next day, when FP went into effect for DC members. For the same week (July 27- Aug 2) I got a price of $3090.00, including tax. Well, I thought that it was a pretty good price, so I decided to research it. Online, to purchase 6-day PHP is roughly $275 per adult (and around $250/child). Multiply that by 6 adults is $1,650 plus the $250 for my DS. Subtract THAT total ($1,900) from $3090 leaves us with $1,190 for 3 rooms. Divide that by 3 (for the 3 rooms) is $396/room for 7 nites(or, about $56/daily) at a resort. IMPOSSIBLE!! So, now I'm thinking, "Wow, this really IS a good deal!!"

Anyway, just had to vent...I'm SOOOO excited(just gotta convince DH:rolleyes: !!)

HAPPY WEEKEND ALL!

madge ~ gold status does not guarantee anything... it increases your chances of receiving an upgrade. Good luck, I hope you receive what you wish for. :)

kimmar ~ that FT package looks awesome - great work on breaking it apart. Let us know what your DH thinks and if you are going.

csmommy ~ :bounce: Have fun and do post a report - anxiously awaiting to hear how your trip turns out.

piper ~ no way should you be paying for the 2nd adult - you pay for the 3rd and more. Rooms are based on double occupancy (2 adults in a room and children under 18 are free). This is pretty much industry standard. I was charged the extra $25 b/c DS was 19. Clear that up asap!

I just received this notice from DU after I asked them to add my son's name to my reservation:

Hi Piper, Just to let you know that there is a $25.00 plus 11 1/2 % tax for the extra adult in the room. I will pass on the addition to the room. Please note this will mean the room will not be paid in full. I will pass on the Starwoods # to the hotel. The new total is $1030.26 for your records.
Have a Magical Day!

Have you ever heard of them charging extra for 2 adults in a room? I think something is very wrong here! ! ! I hope DU hasn't created a big mess for me to unravel! ! ! ! I was trying to do the right thing by having them add my son--I think I have created a headache! ! !
WRONG!!!! Call BOB VARLEY on the phone, and CORRECT him immediately (As mouseteacher also urged!). The room "accomodates" 2-ADULTS, with ADDITIONAL ADULTS being charged the $25 per eve (up to FOUR per room). HE is clearly under the assumption (w/o researching) you are "ADDING" an ADULT SON to your ressie (over and above the limit of "2"). If you used the words "ADDING" (such as: "Adding my son to my reservation", etc.) in your request, he merely presumed it was an "additional" guest. Clear this matter ASAP...as your ressie is now in the "unpaid" status. Let me know what happens. ;)

csmommy...you are ALL SET! Have a WONDERFUL & MAGICAL time, and report back upon return...(please?!).

KIMMAR....Thanks for the attempt! I cleared my PM box...please, give me another chance?! (LOL). ANYTHING (A tent in the woods) IN WDW is WONDERFUL! YOU'RE GOING!! That's ALL that matters!;) Wow...you have broken it down so well...how can he refuse? It is CERTAINLY a GREAT WEEKEND to convince DH....just tell him "THANK YOU" for the EARLY "MOTHER'S DAY" GIFT OF the TRIP TO WDW!!! He He....this should do the trick! :p
PM me when you get a chance...& good luck! :)

madge...Dreams & wishes come true EVERY DAY at the WDW Dolphin. Sprinkle some EXTRA PD before you leave, and be open to whatever the MAGIC brings! :)

madge, I agree with DF - magical things always do seem to happen at the S/D. It did for us - we received comp upgrade to CL for two rooms - no points had been accrued at the time just gold status! It should happen for you, too. :)

I called the Dolphin directly (after emailing DU) and got things fixed up. They acknowledged that there was no charge for two people in a room and when I asked about the sofa--they said there was no sofa in an accessible room, but they would comp a rollaway. Yea for the Dolphin!

Good news, piper. I knew (as I posted to you earlier) that I suspected the Dolphin would comp you a rollaway once you explained your situation.

Three cheers for the Dolphin!!!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Just to set the record straight on this situatiuon with Piper. I made a mistake in thinking She had a third adult in the room and there would have been a charge if that were the case. It was brought to my attention before the change in pricing was done and the reservation was corrected to reflect only two adults would be in the room. I am glad to say this was resolved quickly for Piper and her reservation is all set now.

We knew, Bob, once she contacted you, it would be corrected and was originally a misunderstanding. Our encouragement for her was to act on it quickly. Thanks for the clarification - very kind of you.

My last post was made at work--I just got home and checked my email to find Bob's replies to my earlier email--I was coming here to let you know that he had straightened it out & saw that he had posted. Thanks Bob for your help!

Glad everything is worked out, Piper!

I've decided that "Bob" must do all the fixing around here, since I believe he's the same person that corrected my missing days/smoking/cl problem when I made my reservations for the end of June. If this is the same Bob, thank you again! We're all looking forward to our upcoming trip.

Debbie

 How very nice of you to stop-in and post! Yes, we suspected it was an "error" (as I wrote in my earlier post), and would be corrected immediately once the details were clarified. Thank you, again, for your nice post (and assistance to our pal, Piper!). ;) You certainly represent the BEST in DU! :sunny:

HappyTrails...are you interested in an extra 10,000 SPG miles? PM me to Let me know...I'll give you the "hook-up"! ;)

That the Swan is not a Disney Resort? Is what I was told by a real disney nut. I said "yes I know so whats the big deal?" She looked at me like I was crazy for wanting to stay there.

Little does she know the great rate I got thru DU for the Club Level. Ha.

This is our first stay at The Swan "a non disney resort" oh my gosh, please don't tell anyone, because if they find out how much we are paying for a room in Aug and what a great resort it is. (From what I've read here on the Dis.) It will be overly crowded and I wouldn't want that.

We are looking forward to our first stay at The Swan and I'm sure we will enjoy it very much.

LOL...YES! We are ALL Crazy for staying at these NON-DISNEY resorts. :p

Look...just because it (Swan/Dolphin) isn't "officiated" over by costumed people who must remove their "heads" to have a drink of water...does NOT make it "LESS-DISNEY"! "DISNEY"...as in the last name of "WALT"...is NOT a TANGIBLE. It is more an "ESSENCE"...a "SPIRIT" of the man himself. Sort of like CHRISTMAS, GOD, or LOVE. These "things" are not truly things at all, but a force which must be experienced to understand. Such is the same with "DISNEY"! It is NOT a commercial entity, with concise RULES, REGULATIONS and BOUNDERIES. The SPIRIT of Disney can be found all over the planet, in the most skeptical "NON-DISNEY" places.

Therefore..."DISNEY" is something, which LIVES inside of you. I BRING the "DISNEY" with me to the Swan & Dolphin. So, in may ways, it is actually MORE Disney...than a Disney-owned resort filled with "NON-BELIEVERS and PERSONS LACKING IN THE SPIRIT"!

Just as I never use the term "poor" when referring to someone monetarily or by circumstance "less fortunate" than myself (AS this is to presume they are POOR in the spirit of GOD/LIFE, when they may indeed be RICH), I never use the term "NON-DISNEY"! I hope this helps to clear this matter...and give the nay-sayers something to chew on! LOL....;) (As I LEAP from the soapbox!).

**BTW...do not tell ANYONE of the great deal you received on your ressie, Mrs. A. You are correct in your presumption...after all, it's only a "secret"...until everyone knows about it! :p
