I thought so!

I think I will just wait until the block is lowered. I'm concerned that DU adds a middleman to the upgrades negotiation and I want that ALL in my court! :)

What a great St. Pats Day so far

*France gets slapped in the face! C'est la guerre
*I had 2 publications accepted this morning!
*Things are looking up for S&D!

*And the green beer is already flowing in Norman!

Long live the Pictish!

..."AND MAY THE LUCK 'O THE IRISH BE WITH YOU ALL!" What a wonderful day here...weather is perfect. I'm making corned-beef, cabbage & vegs, with GREEN bevs and GREEN cupcakes (frosting is green...cupcake is CHOCOLATE!) Sure hope all of you had a great weekend.

kathmzh...having stayed in the 1 BR Villa at the BW, I would prefer the Swan studio. It's just as close, without being on TOP of the Boardwalk. Also, for the six eves you are there you'll receive housekeeping EACH day at the Swan, and only ONCE at the BW (DVC=once every three days!). If these things do not matter to you (They do to moi...as I LOVE the room to be FRESH & NEAT each day I return to rest/relax), then perhaps you'll love the BWV. The BW was fun, as were the YC/BC....just not as fun as the Dolphin/Swan. But, this is only MOHO! Either way...Enjoy. ;)

RobMax....Yes, me too. "I's prefers to be's the Captains of me-own-darned ship! So, Blarney on thee DU thingamajig!" LOL...the GREEN is taking it's toll on me! Congrats on the Pub. Acceptance. Tres bien. Now...hold tight to the four-leaf clovers, and wear something GREEN today! (no pinching...LOL). ;)

Happy St. Pat's Day to all of you! We have broken 50 degrees here - YIPEE:bounce: It smells like spring!

I guess we are all Irish today - my last name is Irish thanks to DH but I don't have a drop of Irish blood in me! :)

Enjoy the day!

DF - thanks for the green cupcake idea. Corned beef is boiling away here too. I realized that I didn't have anything green to wear so when I was running errands, I stopped off at Target and bought a green T-Shirt. With a name like Mary Margaret .....
..........you'd think I'd be prepared for such holidays!

Anyway, Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone.........everyone is Irish today.......even my Polish Husband (who did have green to wear!)

And, to stay on Topic............
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all those at the Swan and Dolphin
:)

My grandmother's name was Lessie Carnahan--could you get more Irish! But my grandfather was Scots all the way! And on my father's side (unfortunately) French. So I have an Irish love for life--a Scots thriftiness -- and French je ne sais quoi attitude. Am I a piece of work or what!

Pardon my french but what does "je ne sais quoi" mean? My MIL is 100% Irish so in honor of her and all the Irish HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Literally it means "I know not what" -- it's that shrug of the shoulders type thing that the French are doing now. That's why I am not too proud of my French ancestry right now!

"MOI AUSSI" (LOL). Je Suis Francais, aussi. :p Tant Pis, (especially w/current situation!).

marymrg..."you're welcome." I hope you make some, mine came out just fine. I used Pillsbury Dark chocolate cake, and Pillsbury French Vanilla Frosting (w/Green Food Coloring)! They look yummy...and I am EAGER to try one~:smooth: . My Corned beef is boiling away too (some points @ .49 per pound, and some flats @ .89 pp~great prices!). The cabbage, carrots, potatoes and oso sweet onions will go in later. Smells so delicious! So glad to read you are enjoying the festivities and SPIRIT of the day. Have FUN!;)

BTW...EVERYONE is IRISH on St. Patty's DAY! DD is having a GREAT time in school. I guess all the Catholic Schools enjoy this holiday. Her uniform is basically GREEN/Blue, (skirt w/white polo). She placed Green Ribbons in her hair, and a Four-leaf clover (sparkly) faux tattoo on her cheek. She also has special socks (W/Mary Janes) and a clover charm bracelet. Her cardigan (Letter & name) is Forest Green w/two white stripes on her left sleeve. Very neat and FESTIVE on this Saints Day! I bought her a Zoppini charm with her school's name as a "surprise" gift for this holiday. She will be thrilled, as she expressed a desire before Christmas, but they were sold-out. I placed an order...and received a call YESTERDAY it was IN! Good timing. :) Enjoy the day....KISS the IRISH & HUG EVERYONE ELSE~! ;)

Now hold on there DF - Bin Laden's not irish in my book and neither is Saddam. As a Pict' I have to put some parameters on these things!!! :) :) :)

Spring Break Here. --60 minutes till the party ar O'connell's begins!

RobMax ~ enjoy that party! My DS is on spring break and is, thankfully, home and not at some wild spring break vacation spot!

DF ~ my school, too, came with the wearing of the green. The K teacher had a headband with shamrocks on the ends of two antennas. She looked like an Irish alien! ;) Many girls had hair barretts and bows for St. Pat's and we had a cupcake day where everyone received a cupcake with green frosting! The faculty looked quite Irish with many wearing some type of green garment.

The festivities are in FULL SWING here! LOL...RobMax~absolutely CORRECT, perhaps I should have contained the phrase to a region, or Continent! :p

Mouseteacher...DD has GREEN in her hair! Some girls at school in her theology class had a couple cans of "wash-out" spray. So, she has the "Sheen of Green" over her brunette locks. Very Wild & IRISH-LOOKING! ;)

***"Life is made of moments, small pieces of glittering mica in a long stretch of gray cement. It would be wonderful if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the ones most of us lead now, that won't happen. We have to TEACH ouselves how to live, REALLY Live...to LOVE the JOURNEY, not just the destination." (Anna Quindlen).***

Just wanted to say thanks to you S/D folks. I've been lurking these threads and thoroughly enjoying the information and enthusiasm.

DH and I will be in Orlando next week. We wanted to do E-Ride night (3/28), so we sought a resort. We've always wanted to try the Swan or Dolphin, and it looks like we'll be at the Dolphin 3/27 and 3/28.

We booked a king/ resort view with balcony at the DC rate. We also have an SPG membership with no points. All I expect is what I paid for, which is why we reserved that room type. I don't think we want CL, because we really want the balcony.

We did tell them that we're celebrating our anniversary and we requested an Epcot view on a higher floor. I hope we get it.

A cancellation of E-Ride Night is the only thing I can foresee that would ruin this trip for us. I expect the Dolphin will be wonderful. I will find out next week....:D

Nice to have you post on this thread! :) Glad you enjoy the frolicking and whimsical bantor which thrives between all of us Swan/Dolphin~lovers. You have reserved a wonderful catagory, and should be very pleased. I would politely inquire, at the time of check-in, if there were possibly ANY: "Corner Kings with the Turret Balcony on the Far East Wing (Facing Epcot)?" Very exclusive, private, quiet and Romantic...perfect for an Anniversary stay. I too, enjoy E-Ticket nights...and would be very disappointed if these were discontinued/cancelled. It's the BEST way to enjoy the Magic Kingdom. We do at least 3 each summer, sometimes more. Hope you have a wonderful Anniversary, and enjoy your stay in the MAGIC at the Dolphin. ;)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and yours!

You are so kind, DF99...:D I will try my luck with the request.....:D

By the way, what's the most effective way of getting that request granted? Phone? SPG website? Email controller directly? Fax? At check-in? Early check-in? Just trying to form a strategy! Thanks...:D

I would suggest calling the Dolphin now with your request. That is what Ozziewags, Mom Poppins and I did. Make sure you have your SPG number on your reservation. DF suggestion about the corner king on the east wing would be about as good as it gets! I have heard all kinds of wonderful things about those corner rooms with two balconies. Good luck!

Olena...and let us know how it transpires. I'm wondering if/when this "impending" War will affect the travel industry (most assuredly), and just how much will trickle-down to the Dolphin & Swan...and WDW. I know we have no plans to cancel our trip. I just received my Portofino Bay Hotel Confirmation in the mail this am...for the "Villa Suite W/Parlor"! Ohhhh....it's is the consumate LAP of LUXURY. It's wonderful to treat ourselves to such splendor once in a while (at least a few times per year). Makes the journey so much Sweeter! ;) I can hardly wait until the summer....am I under the 100 day mark, yet? LOL.....:earseek: :sunny:

Hi all,
I just cancelled my ressies for the Beach Club and switched over to the Swan for my trip this September (I'm going through Dreams Unlimited). I have never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin and so I hope that you all will answer some questions for me! First off, did I make the right decision by choosing the Swan over the Dolphin? I did this based on the renovation factor--I know that the Dolphin will be rehabbed soon, but I figured it would not be completely finished by Sept. The players here are me, my DH and our 2 y.o. DS. I understand that the rooms at the Swan are smaller than the Dolphin's...is it really that noticeable? Do all the rooms at the Swan have balconies or do I have to request one?

Your answers and advice are greatly appreciated.

DeeCeeSW - sign up for SPG program at SPG.com, this may get you a free upgrade to a balcony!
