Hi everyone! Just back from our stay at the Dolphin for 3 nights. What can I say about the Dolphin but WOW!!!!! It was everything I'd hope for & more. My family was so impressed that I found this great of a hotel and w/our teacher's discount at such a great price. I got my spg card before we left--no points at the time of check-in so I was not expecting much of a view. Before we left I'd put in my room request on the spg website. All I asked for was a view of the epcot fireworks. Well when we checked in the wonderful associate--I can't remember her name but she had a lovely Brit accent--told me they received our request and that we would be pleased. We had rooms on the 16th floor #101 &103. The front view was over the walkway to the Swan, to the right was the pool area & MGM, to the left was Boardwalk and the Fireworks at Epcot. We were in awe. I'll type a trip report later,, we just got back late Sat. nite but wanted to say THANKS!!! to everyone who helped me with planning my trip and all your wonderful suggestions. We had a fantastic time. My DH is even hinting about going again next year--this from a man who was not in the Disney spirit prior to the trip. THANKS AGAIN!!! the Boquet Family:D :bounce: :bounce: :D

Welcome back!!! I love hearing all the reports from the MAGIC. So glad you had a great time and that your requests were met. Just goes to show, if you don't ask, you don't get!

..."HOME"...LOL! All kidding aside, I would either select the CR (as I LOVE this place, and LOVE walking to/from the MK), or Offsite at the PORTOFINO BAY HOTEL. This resort is AMAZING, and U.S. & I.O.A. are Wondrous when using your room key for the FOTLA! It truly is a great place to try, outside of the Kingdom. This resort offers ENTERTAINMENT rates, and will MATCH your level of SPG with their LOEWS Frequent travel program. It's certainly worth a thought/try, especially if you've never been there. ;)

MUFFY....YES, I believe your DH is indeed correct. I have received numerous emails and letters from AMEX stating I could PAY MY TAXES using my card! Definitely, go online and check to see if AMEX is accepted by the IRS. What a way to rack up the pts~! Great Idea!! ^_^ If there was only a way to pay mortgage with the card, I'd be all set! :p

alboq...HAPPY HOMECOMING to the BOQUET FAMILY! ;) :sunny: What a Lovely post! Magic happens EACH & EVERY day at the WDW Dolphin...so happy to read you were showered with some. :) You certainly had wonderful rooms/views, enough to inspire your dear DH "lacking in the Disney Spirit" to wish to return next year! You definitely DID GOOD! LOL. I welcome you all home, and look forward to your full trip report once you are rested and unpacked. Thanks for the uplifting post.

TTFN....Happy Sunday to you all. DF99...:sunny:

I just read on Deb Wills' site that turn down service is available at the Swan. Is it only available at the club level or can anyone request it?
I really like the idea of the lights being turned on for you.

Thanks for any replies.

CR as in contemporary resort?

I'm back on line - new computer! I have really missed checking in these past 2 days.

Bouquet Family - Welcome home and I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. I, too, found the Dolphin wonderful and getting the teacher rate is the best! I'm happy to hear your experience was as magical as my family's was.

I agree with DF as I love the CR and have stayed there 3x. I would return in heartbeat particularly to stay in the Tower. However, the teacher rate at the Dolphin is one I can't pass up.

DF ~ Just went back to catch up on the posts and read about your DD and her ankle! My injury will be 3 weeks on Wed. I still have some minor swelling under the ankle bone and some minor tenderness. It takes time to heal. I still try to stay off of it once I am home from school. I, too, used an Ace bandage and that helped. Hope she is on the mend - but she must be patient.

We are on vacation at the dolpin in a Jr Suite, and questions that I can answer for you I will try. They have Parlour Suites and Jr Suites, which has been confused on several different post.

Jr Suite is a King size bed in the room with full bath, make up table, scale, hair dryer and desk. The parlour which makes up the Jr Suite has a door that opens into the king size room it has a full size bath and a half bath dressing room. It also has a mini bar with a sink and mini bar refridge. I had house keeping clean it out for 20.00. It is the same size as the rentals. It is plenty room for everything. We are on the 14 th floor, on the east side facing the Swan and MGM, if you are on the west side you could see Epcot and its nightly fire works. You would have to have the epcot view. The parlour has a pull out bed, which is a full or maybe a queen. Not that great of a bed but the room is very large. It has a full size sofa bed, three chairs and a coffee table. The area by the murphy bed has a sofa table, with high speed DSL (You can receive email through Outlook, but you cannot send) You have to send email over some other connection like Yahoo, or Hotmail. You asked guest services to bring up two bed rails and they where here in 5 minutes. The Club lounge is only on the the 12 floor with Hot and cold food.

Any other questions, let me know.

Wow, Mike - lucky you being in the World and at the Dolphin! No questions - just ENVY!!!! LOL ;)

....just checked out your link; great pics!!!! Boy, you sure love those pins (even more than me, I must admit!!!;) )

"east side facing the Swan and MGM, if you are on the west side you could see Epcot and its nightly fire works."

I thought it was the other way around, with the east facing Epcot and the west facing MGM. Which one is correct?

Yes, Glenn...Contemporary Resort. It was always WALT'S Fav, and is still one of mine. We are booked on the 14th floor in a 1BR suite for a week this summer. The rates with AP for the Tower are Fab (no discounts for the suites), under $200, even better for the wings. It's a VERY SPECIAL PLACE, and we enjoy visiting now and again. We still stay at the Dolphin, but always visit Vero and one other Disney Resort each summer. We are also staying in the Same Portofino Bay Hotel Suite for 4 eves. We LOVE this resort, and the perks associated with the stay (FOTLA=Front Of the Line Access). It makes our numerous trips to US & IOA so much more fun and memorable. Also, we are at the Peabody CL for one eve, for the DUCK MARCH! LOL. :p

Mouseteacher...HOORAY! New Computer...congrats to you! Isn't it lovely? ;) Thanks for the info and kind words for DD. She is feeling much better today, and did NOT want to wear any kind of ace bandage or wrap to school this am. Ugh...vanity & teens. :p I hope she is able to rest some this afternoon before her Steel Drum Practice (6pm-8:30pm). I know these things heal slowly. Your words are encouraging, and I'm glad you too are feeling better. ;)

Hi MIKE! Hope you are enjoying your stay in the Dolphin. The sofa sleeper is supposed to be a Queen size, yet always LOOKS like a Full! LOL. Thanks for the wonderfully detailed post clarifying the accomodations and differences between the Parlour and the Jr. Suite. Enjoy!!:)

Hi, Kimmar! I recall you too LOVE the pins. I counted mine recently...more than 1200! WOW...does this make me an official PIN-HEAD? LOL...:p . I know I "have it bad"...(or badly, using the proper adverb)...as I HAD to purchase every darned pin available while crusing on the Magic last summer (and that included the ones on Castaway Cay)!! HeHe....then, we went BONKERS when we arrived at the Dolphin and hit the world. Those little PIN CARTS just seem to have ARMS which GRAB me and and PULL ME IN! :p

You are correct, EAST is facing Epcot, WEST faces MGM. ;)

mikev sounds like your in a great place, wish i was there. Would you mind poking around a bit and see how far along the renovations are?

 ,DF99...1,200??!?!?!? Yikes!! Even if you took off the thousand, I'm not even CLOSE to that many....

Darn, I forgot that you went on the cruise last year...shoulda asked if you could pick up a cruise pin for me(don't have ANY in my collection!:( )

Can anyone help. We have club room concierge level at the Dolphin assigned to us. Can anyone tell me if thi is on a particular floor, west/east side and if I want a view Epcot fireworks what do you suggest I request.

Thanks
jetsetter90:smooth:

Club floors at the Dolphin are on the 12th. and 14th. floor. Last year we were on the 14th. and had a good view of the Epcot fireworks (to the left of our windows), Boardwalk area, Swan (straight ahead) and could even see MGM(to the right of our windows) Epcot Views are on the East side of the Dolphin. I suggest putting in your request now, and few days before travel date calling and confirming your request. When I called a few days before travel date, my room was assigned and it was just what I had requested. Good Luck! :D

Dh and I are spending my birthday night (in May) at either the Swan or Dolphin. (then moving on to VWL) So far, the best rate I can find is AAA - but with limited view. Since I am SPG Gold, I am hoping for some kind of upgrade but might end up using points for a club level upgrade - just to make sure that is where we'll be. Is there such a thing as limited view Club Level at either Swan or Dolphin? We stayed at the Swan several years ago and we liked it, but I'm sure the Dolphin would be just as nice. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

DF99,

Thanks for all the advices you have given. Can you tell me the e-mail address I should use to send in my room request?

Thanks:D
