New Disneyland App is up and running

THIS......This is what I've been waiting for! An app with ride times direct from Disney. A way to show my AP at the gate. An app that shows me where characters currently are at this very moment - and that's important when I'm trying to find that slick, wily, elusive Donald Duck. I'm hoping that they'll get it to where one day we can load our PhotoPass ID onto the phone so that I'm not fumbling around for the card. Just show the app. That would be pretty slick.

AND....my wife will love it because she has a way to see where all the restrooms are on this app. And since her sense of direction is terrible, this will help a lot. Brilliant!

And a shout-out to HoJoAnaheim for posting it on their facebook page and helping me find it after I got back from a trip last night.

Everything is working great for me except the character information won't load. Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Great news! I reinstalled the app and now it works

love it! Too bad our AP's expire in 3 days and I don't know when we'll be back.

This must be step 1 for supporting FP+. I was part of the test when they brought FP+ to WDW and I really liked it - I noticed only wait times are posted, not FP return times - that is what's making me think they are probably plumbing for when you'll be able to click "get me a fastpass" and pick your return time. (I'm assuming that's one reason why they need location services -so they can confirm you are in the park and have scanned your AP - I'm also assuming you'll be able to scan your non-AP tickets into the app so you can use the app for FP+'s).

This may be a case of a piggyback rumor that only started because of the FP+ rumors.

SOOO on the Character part, are those characters actually there at that time? Or are they spots where those characters might be thru out the day? Because if you go to DCA by the Cozy Cone it says Mater and McQueen right now and unless they are in the process of switching out they both wouldn't be there???

Let me know if you figure that out. My DD renewed her AP this morning and because it was originally linked to me (she was a minor when she got her first one, now an adult) when I open the app it shows her AP in my name.

Here is an update . Yesterday I called Pass holder customer service. The CM who answered knew about the new app but mentioned he is still learning. After 20 minutes of him putting me on hold to get advice from his supervisor he put her on the phone. It took a while for her to understand what was wrong. So here is what we did. She assighned my DGS a new AP # and I was able to link that to the app. So now I have DGS, DGD and my AP # correct on my Disney app. But I still have my DGS's old # with my name on there also. I was promised a call back from the IT dept. to figure out how to remove it.
The only problem this creates is I have to go to the ticket booth next trip to het DGS's new card.
I also let the CM's know that this was not a huge priority at this time, if they where busy I could wait. Both where very polite, eager to help and learn.
I am still waiting for the call back.
One other confusing thing is when you go to ad an AP, if you want to ad it manually it says ad the ID #. There is a barcode and an ID # on the back of the card. I had to put in the barcode # not the ID #.

If you go to the list and select a character, it will tell you what time that character will be appearing. On the map, it's just the location, not broken down by times.

If you tap on a location on the map, characters for that location will pop up. Tap on one of those characters and it will give you appearance times for them. You don't have to go to the list.

If you tap the Character name it tells you the TIMES that that character will be there.

But I do see that with McQueen & Mater it just lists the same block of time for both. Maybe it is because they switch so frequently that it would be difficult to pinpoint the times for each.

Maybe I missed something but does anyone know if there is a way to stay logged in on the app? It makes me log in every time and it annoys me a little bit. I know it takes 5 seconds but I feel like there should be a way to stay logged in..

Huh. I stay logged in. I just checked after not looking at for a couple of days and still logged in.
