New Disney World AP Pay and get less?

I thought this thread was about all WDW AP's, not Florida. I got confused! The prices looked great for me living in WA state.

Unless you are a DVC owner you are only eligible for the Incre AP

The last Florida Resident weekday select pass I purchased was back in Oct. 2018. With tax, I paid $307.79.

Just got off the phone with Guest Services. I was informed of the below:

My current Platinum Pass Certificate will be honored as purchased, so will still include MM (I paid $925 for this AP Cert so I'm relieved!). However, because it is a certificate and NOT a pass or ticket, I will still be limited to 3 park reservations until the certificate is redeemed. I will be able to make another 2 park reservations at time of AP Activation, for a total of 5 for the trip as a non resort guest.

My son's 6 Day Park Hopper Ticket can be upgraded to an Incredi-Pass AP either at time of launch (Sep 8th) or prior to our last day in the park (we visit in Oct). There is no benefit to doing one over the other. They will apply the value paid of his current 6DPH ticket to the new Incredi-Pass AP at time of upgrade, and I would simply pay the difference.

I'm really bummed that the new AP is so expensive and there is no lower tier to upgrade into like at DL. This basically means I'm going to have to really do the math before my trip in October to see if its worth it to upgrade my son to the AP, or just get him 2 separate tickets for the trips we will be taking over the next year. But, I was on the fence about renewing in 2022, now I'm pretty sure I won't. We vacation to so many other places, there is no reason for me to spend $2000+ on themepark tickets for 2 people when I could pay for us to go to Ireland for a week with that money!

Next time we go down, my son will be older and taller, and we will probably skip Disney all together and just stay and visit Universal.

With ticket prices what they are, I honestly can't wait to start using my AKV as a "home base" for spring training. I know it's an hour drive to Publix Field, but still...with what Disney is charging, I can take a nice drive to Florida from Michigan, stay for 3-4 nights at AKV and see a few Detroit Tigers spring training games while getting out of the Michigan cold for a while...without giving Chapek an additional dime!

I'm lazy, has anyone done the math on the break even days for the out of state one? I know with the last one it was 10 days if you compared apples to apples and were just looking at PH ticket prices and not memory maker or discounts or parking.

I didn't renew my last one because I wasn't planning on being at WDW for longer than 10 days the next year but I'm not sure now. I never used MM even when it was included, always bought PHs and stay on site and used Disney transport so I never factored parking in. I know it's a little harder since different days and different times of the year = different ticket prices but I'm guessing there is an average out there somewhere.

How does photopass cost them nothing? They pay people, equipment, and technology for that service. I'm sure it costs a lot.

I agree it does cost money to provide the Photopass option. But it hasn't been worth the cost in years. When I 1st purchased it in 2007, photogs were everywhere. I mean everywhere. In the wave pool, the lazy rivers, downtown Disney, and around every corner in the parks. Because they were so plentiful, you had very short waits, if any. Now, I am lucky to see 3 or 4 photogs the entire day with a line comparable to an attraction. Because I had it with my AP, I always got a picture when lines happened to be short enough. That usually equated to about 2 pictures every 8 day trip. And magic photos are an absolute joke. I hear there are many different types, but all I ever get is Chip.

But they added the Ren & Stimpy version of Mickey in order to give it a contemporary look.

I absolutely hate this look. I don't buy any merch that features this image.

I didn’t see anything about a magnet! During last years debacle they kept telling me how special my included magnet was! Where. Is. My. Magnet?!?!?

In the email I received today, a magnet is on the way to current ap holders. It will be yellow with a large D and the ugly Mickey.

He is so out of touch. Someone needs to clue him in that a lot of people who have WDW APs make multiple, on property trips every year. We are not DL. Between what he is doing to APs and what they have done with on site perks, he’s causing many of these people to reconsider. That could be a big mistake in the long run. Disney has been a generational company, where parents take their children, who in turn take their children, etc. If you get a generation that goes to the competition instead, that pool of first time guests will start to dry up due to lack of emotional connection.

I have an AP, and live close enough to do day trips, but 99.9% of the time, I book a minimum of 2-3 nights (and most of the time 10-11 nights) on property, multiple times per year. I buy Disney food and merchandise (high end stuff like jewelry, not just a tee shirt). If I choose not to renew my pass next year, they lose all of that revenue, not just the price of an AP. I can’t be the only AP that spends a substantial amount of money there above and beyond the price of the pass itself.

I just contacted Disney with this very question. We have AP vouchers not activated as well. The cast member I spoke to said that when activated, they would basically be as purchased, including Photopass. The difference would be if you were to renew them..then it would be on the new system.

I was told the exact opposite when I did a Chat today. I attached screenshot of the answer I received.

I haven’t seen anything regarding to TIW, but since they implied the dining plan will be coming back in some form, they could wait and address it at that time. It wasn’t technically connected to APs, other than getting a slight purchase discount on the card.

I'm not seeing where a DVC rate is mentioned. Am I missing that?

DVC members qualified for the old Gold pass ($719), and the new Sorcerer Pass ($899). Both are AP's with some blackout dates.

Never mind, I found a great table here on disboards.

If my math is correct (which it might not be). Incredi-pass (without tax)$1299. Highest price 5 day pass = $137 x 5 = $685 Say you take 2 five day trips. = $1370. So the AP would make sense then. Let's go one 5 day trip and one 4 day trip. 685 + ($162 x 4) $648 = $1333. Again, the AP would make sense. Obviously, those numbers are based on the peak times so if one didn't go peak times and a different combination of days the numbers would change. Lowest price days. 5 days = $105 x 5 = $525 x 2 = $1050. In that case, an AP wouldn't make sense. 5 day + 4 day (124 x 5 ) 620 + 525 = $1145. Again the AP wouldn't make sense. I'm guessing if one did 3 trips a year with any combination of 3 to 5 days, then the AP might make sense.

It's going to be harder for some people to figure it out. For example, I buy discounted tickets so I'd have to pick what exact or close to days, I thought I might be going and for how long. I hate math.

No, you can book length of stay and still have the five for outside of the trip.

I purchased DVC last year when new AP's were not being sold. I have a trip booked for the 50th at the end of September, and purchased 7 day park hoppers for my husband and I at the time of my reservation . Can I apply the cost that I paid for these tickets towards AP's? Do I call DVC or guest services? TIA!

The AP thread on the news forum has a screen shot that says Disney is recommending/requiring doing the upgrade in person at guest services

Thank you very much. I also just read that it was true with renewals starting 9/8. I have a renewal cert taking place 9/20something and have 14 park reservations against it (all on days I am staying at a DVC resort) and 1 of them is 10/1 at MK...needless to say, that one is a little valuable to me.
