New Disney Visa "Inspire" card

My premiere card has a LOT lower APR interest rate, so I basically just opened the Inspire card to get that $600 and the other incentives. I'll probably only use it for Disney purchases and pay them off immediately unless I can somehow convince them to match the other card's APR.

Plan is to drop the older card down to the basic no fee model shortly.

Hmmm.....$600 is a lot more than $300, lol. Gives me twice as much reason to consider not just applying.
Can you refer your DH to the Inspire. You would get $100 Referral and then he would get the $600 in Instant Gift Card/Statement Credit. You can always cancel this card after a year if you don't get the benefits from it and just keep your current Disney card.

Yes, I did this with my wife and her Inspire. NEVER put any spouse or kid on your CC if you ever plan to "refer" them for a bonus later.

It's my DH actually that has the Premier, so I guess he could refer me. Just trying to figure out if makes sense for our particular situation. We have DVC. We will leave Universal on May 6 and check in for a week at BLT. We have a little over $1400 on Disney gift cards right now. We usually spend about $250-$275/day on food. So let's just say with inflation, we will now average $275 for 7 days=$1925. And we will use Disney Reward dollars to pay for our souvenirs. The other expense will be Genie+ (ILL whatever it's called nowadays) plus paying for one of the "fancy rides" each day, so how much is that $35 plus $20=$55/day for what used to be free (yes, I am still bitter about the loss of free fastpasses all these years later, hahaha) so $220 for the four of us times seven days= $1540. So we need $1925 for food and $1540 for lightning lanes/fancy rides=$3465 minus the $1400 on gift cards which would mean that we will be charging around $2000. But you can't put Genie Plus on the room charges, so I guess we would need to use gift cards to only pay for Lightning Lanes and charge all food back to the room, but we can't do that with quick service, so I don't know if I can actually get to the $2000 room folio charge? Unless we use the Reward dollars to pay for quick service and charge everybody's souvenirs.

Why is this such a headache? And why is Genie+ILL so dang expensive?? Dang Disney.

We bought our grown kid's Disney tix using Attraction Tickets. DH and I have APs from using DVC points to get the sorcerer's pass. I don't know that we will have enough DVC points to buy APs next year and we're headed to Disneyland next year.

Anybody help convince me one way or the other? Or let me know if I'm not understanding everything.

And I'm an authorized user on DH's card, so that's probably out.

I received my first statement. The Chase app didn't have an autopay option for "interest saving balance" until I got the first statement, but now it is there and I have that setup.

I did a Pay Yourself Back for my WDW AP purchase, and a day or two after statement closing, I also received the $100 credit for buying tickets. My "interest saving balance" went down by both the PYB amount and the $100 Disney Ticket credit.

I recently bought some DVC points, and that was properly classified for the 6 months 0% interest with regard to the interest saving balance. I used the $300 new account Disney eGift card towards the DVC annual dues of this new contract; no problem at all.

I just don't pay interest no matter what rate they are offering me. In my younger years, yes, I did. If you can at all avoid it, try to do so.

In the long run, to be free from paying any interest is worth a lot more than these incentives.

But you can't use room charge for mobile order QS except at Aulani; you have to order in person to be able to use room charge.
I'm the sort that just likes to order in person. I tried Mobile Order a few times on Boardwalk Deli and got a less than appetizing sandwich. Blamed it on mobile order.

I strongly agree. Credit card interest will eat you alive if you're carrying a balance. There were times in my past where I was really struggling financially and carried a balance, and that interest really added up. If you can get ahead of the curve and avoid the interest, it really pays off. IMHO, it is not worth going into debt to get some of these perks & incentives.

First statement posted, looks similar to Flash_Sloth in terms of how everything is categorized with a DVC purchase and dues. Am I missing anything with the plan to just use the PYB balance immediately -- any reason to save it?

There's no reason to separate it out except the psychological feel that you are putting 'free' funds aside for vacation. That might help some to budget as it did myself when I was supporting my family as they grew up and continued through life. Now, all educated and paid for and just me except for the usual family gifts and some trips, so I don't have to put a big stock into designating funds for one thing or another.

Still, I think if you have a vacation fund account and use the statement credit to pay $300 of the $1000 needed to get the $300 credit, setting aside the $300 into your vacation fund can give a good feeling plus it's there as disposable vacation income when you have to make a decision where to spend it. And it now does not have to be spent at Disney (sacrilege, I know, lol) but for a split stay between Disney and other parks or even a trip to Kennedy Space Center or the beach or whatever else you enjoy. The rest of the perks come in Disney money, such as the Disney gift card or the Disney dollars from the ticket promo or the $200 disney dollars for $2000 in room folio charges - keep in mind those can occur across the year of membership, each year.

And continuing on about the PYB if this helps minimize the impact of spending the $1000 on the Inspire, by all means PYB is a way to monetize the credit. For me, I pulled the trigger and it aligned to my 6 month car insurance bill, and 3 month water bill, stuff I had to send cash for anyway, so it's like getting 30% off those 2 recurring expenses on a one time basis. That 'freed up' the $300 cash I would have used to help pay those bills. I can still reroute the cash back to Disney if I so desire. I own DVC so that's an ongoing contribution to Disney's bottom line.

For the $300 statement credit - it says 8 weeks to be credited, but in my case I have a $300 credit on a $30 purchase. It happened as soon as we hit $1000.

Is that the same experience others are having? Not waiting 8 weeks?

We got the $300 credit as soon as we spent the $1000.
