Hi everyone,

We just finished an exhausting garage sale at my house. The good news is we made $507.00! We decided before the sale that any money would be spending money for Disney. How do you suggest I divide it up? Should I give my two kids each some, then use the rest for snacks or should we take $100 as a family for each of the five days we are in the parks? Maybe just have DH keep it and use it as needed? How would you handle the garage sale cash?

Thanks for your opinions!
Angie

$50 to everyone to spend on whatever they want. Give DH the rest to hold in case you need it and if you don't need it use it to start your fund for your next trip!

We always pick one really special thing to do as a group that we wouldn't have done otherwise - a character meal, a tour, boat ride, something like that.

Although if your kids donated a bunch of stuff to the sell - at my house its all goes in one pot -- then I might think about giving them some each to spend as they please.

Great job - I am getting ready for one for next weekend right now!

I like this idea. I have always wanted to do a Wishes Cruise so I would do something like that.....

That is an awesome haul for your sale! :woohoo: We are about to do the garage sale thing at our house-actually next weekend. :)

I think that giving the kids a cut of the money is a great idea, but the amount to give them is probably something you'd be best at deciding depending on their ages, contributions to the sale, etc.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

My kids each had their own little stands. If anyone is interested, DD9 made little clay pots with a flower planted and a ribbon tied around. She also made butterfly pot stickers out of craft sticks, heart shaped wooden shapes for the wings, and she drew on the faces. She sold the pots for $1.50 and the butterflies for 50 cents. She made a sign advertising that she was earning money for Disney. DS4 made homemade playdough and sold it for 50 cents a bag. They were both so excited to contribute. People were so nice and thought it was neat that they were helping do their part.

We would have had more business but it poured down rain all morning. I couldn't believe how much we made! I've never done that well at a garage sale before. We had tons of stuff but I was motivated by the Disney money!

Make $950.00 at my last yard sale.

I had it with my mother, over at her house.
I kept about $500.00 of it & it was all money for our WDW trip which was the following month. We put it in the bank as it was going towards the purchases of our annual passes.

My best friend and I are having a garage sale next weekend...lots of stuff to sell, and most of the profit is going towards our Disney trip too. How exciting that you did so well with your sale! :thumbsup2
