New Disney Shoes!!

I always get new tennis shoes before I go to Disney World, then I break them in by wearing them while at walk on the treadmil. So by the time I get to Disney World my shoes are broken in but they still look brand new. For some reason I feel like I need nice clean shoes in Disney World, my old around town shoes just won't cut it.

I've bought several pair at Sportmans Warehouse for $25. I also have seen them in the specialty shoe stores in the mall.

We do not have a Sportmans Warehouse. We have Dick's Sporting Goods. I wonder if they have them. I can check the mall, too. Can you remember what mall stores have them?

Before Disney I feel like I need new shoes, outfits, bathing suit...

It is so much fun to plan...

Sidenote: Last year, I got something on my shirt (stupid Disney Dining) every single day, it was the biggest pain and this year I am going to bring a Tide To Go pen... if you haven't tried this, it totally works.

As for the shoes, I recommend bringing runners, a pair of comfy sandals or flip flops, and a dressy pair of shoes.

I have also walked around and gotten blisters with flip flops, so I alternate with runners, and I do tend to teeter around the world in heels sometimes, usually if we only plan to be there for an hour or few, like for dinner.

Now, about these Crocs, I have read all about them here (wouldn't have heard of them otherwise) and explained a little about them to DF... pretty much just that all my "online friends" (that's what I call you!) have them and recommend them, what is so special about them?

And, we tried them on this weekend, they are comfy... but just one question... don't they get that sticky plastic feeling??? Like... the feeling you get when you wear fake leather pants??? :confused3 Haha... :rotfl: If anyone knows what I mean??? :confused3

Um, going to ask a really stupid question, but what are Crocs?

Yea I know "get out of forum dumb kid!!!"

Sorry for bothering

No bother, they are awesome, check them out.

They look like gardening shoes, but if you can get over their appearance, they are some of the most comfortable shoes you will ever wear. Unfortunately I hurt my knee, so I can't wear them for a while, but as soon as I heal, I will be right back in them!

OMG! New shoes? How about new EVERYTHING!? Our annual trips to Disney seem to spawn all out shopping sprees for new socks, shoes, unmentionables  , t-shirts, shorts and the like. Man, we must spend $500+ in addition to our WDW trips with our purchases. SO, yes, I will be one of those tourists with new "stuff!" Except that I didn't need new sneakers this time!!!

I looked at that site Stephanie, and those seem really cool! They even have a diabetic one for my mom! so my mom, little sister, and I picked out our favorites and hopefully will get some for our WDW trip. are they really better than sneakers?

I am guilty of this. :guilty: I LOVE shoes and I know if you buy the right size and a good shoe, you sure can wear them to WDW straight out of the box with no problems at all. My daughters and I have done that with our Keens and Tevas, Chacos, and Sauconys. I think it's much better to have the support of a newer sole and insole than a smooshed down one. I also like the look of new shoes. ;)

We buy new everything for vacation, so shoes are just a small part of the fun! :sunny:

I have Airwalks (Payless version of Crocs) clogs. I tried Crocs but the bumps on the bottom bothered my feet so I found the Airwalks to be more comfy and cheaper. I have a black pair and a red white and blue tie dye type pair. I've worn them to Six Flags Great America locally and while it's no Disney, it gives me an idea about the shoes. My Airwalks are ok but they don't make me feet feel like "butta" when there's that much walking involved. Other than the amusement park I wear them every chance I have, I adore them. Honestly, to the poster who talked about needing support, I don't think these would give you enough. I may end up wearing them with socks if I can't find something better (yeah yeah I'll put the black bar in front of my eyes for the fashion "don't"). Last summer I stubbed my toe on my son's shoe and ripped 90% of my toenail off, so no opened toe shoes at WDW for me.

Well, I bought new shoes too. :thumbsup2 This will be our first trip and I don't have any good shoes for the park since I mainly wear sandals/flip flops/slip on shoes. I thought I better get some good walking shoes. :cool1:

I just bought my first pair of Teva sandels. They sure do feel comfy - shouldn't need much breaking in. Never spent that much for sandels before, but have had heal pain for awhile, now (Plantar's Faceitis), and need something good for all the walking we'll be doing. :goodvibes

this year I am going to bring a Tide To Go pen... if you haven't tried this, it totally works.

I am taking a Tide to Go pen and Shout! stain wipes with me this year on vacation, since I bought all new clothes to take on vacation and I don't want them to be ruined before I get home.

Question -- Are there any flip flops out there that are more comfortable to walk in but made like Old Navy flip flops? I love my ON flip flops and I wear them walking around at DTD and the likes, but I would love a pair of flip flops with the same look but more support or ones that are a little more comfortable. So what are the best flip flops?

i researched the same thing since i looove flip flops. what i found was that crocs (the same company that makes those ugly clogs) makes not too bad looking flip flops. they are way comfy too. i wish i would have purchased more than one pair. i think these are more comfortable then sneakers. although i bought those too. i always buy new stuff for my disney trips. and i never have a problem wearing shoes right out of the box (maybe thats bc i always get new balance and i know my feet get along with them). but i highly recomond the crocs flip flops! good luck! let me know if you get them...i wanna know what you think.

oh ya i got them via www.crocs.com

I wear Crocs at home all the time. love them. last month when we were there I brought my Crocs and decided to wear them one day. OMG, my legs hurt so bad! esp. my calves. sure my feel were nice and cool, but the cushy-ness of the Crocs against the hard pavement made me feel like I was walking in sand all day. you know that feeling when you are walking in really soft beach sand? anyway, we left early and went back to the room and I put on my sneakers. much better! and this is coming from a Croc lover who owns 3 pairs!

There are so many choices in the crocs. How do I know which is the best for me. Can anyone help me choose?

I guess this is OT, but I have a question for those of you with Crocs. We are going to WDW at the end of Sept. We normally do end of Nov./early Dec. trips, but we are going for the free dining. I normally wear my New Balance tennis for our trips. With Sept. heat and rain, I am not so sure that these will be the best option. So I did think about getting Crocs. My question is about cushioning. I get heel spurs. If I don't have support for my heels and bottom of my feet, I will end up in pain. Are the Crocs enough cushion and support for walking the pavement all day, every day at WDW? Does anyone have heel spurs that uses them? Are they ok?

As someone with similar problems, I'll take up this answer! I get bad heel pain when I walk, and had to get special orthotics. I have a high arch which isn't getting the support it needs.
Every time I hear about people wearing crocs all day, I'm wondering what they're walking on. I work them for 5 hours on concrete, over a course of a few weeks. My feet hurt so bad after the first hour, it was awful. Yeah, they felt great when I put them on, but when I stood on the actual concrete, it was horrible. I would personally not recommend these shoes for people going to Disney World, but to each their own! If you do buy them, I hope they work.

Thank you for your answer. When I look at the Crocs that is what I imagine. They look like they would be wonderful for short periods of time. However, to me, they don't look like they would give me enough support for long hours for a week on hard pavement. I was hoping someone else with heel spurs/problems could give me first hand experience. Thank you so much for doing that.

**I am so happy for those of you that can wear them. I wish that I could. I have feet that need lots of cushion/support and worry about being stuck in WDW with aching feet. That would not be a good thing.

I do the same for every trip and they are a lifesaver! I've even gotten coffee out of things with the Tide Pen..I always have one in my purse! :thumbsup2

I don't know if they are the best flip flops, but I have some flip flops by Skechers and they are very comfortable to walk around the parks in.

Also, we always take along an aerosol deoderant (usually Suave powder scent) to spray on our feet before putting on our shoes. This keeps your feet from sweating (and smelling :) ) and keeps you from getting blisters. Blisters form when your feet sweat and they keep rubbing against a surface which irritates your foot and causes a blister. So, no sweating...no blister! We also bring along something called "moleskin" by Dr. Scholl's. If there's a place on your foot/feet that gets irritated by your shoes, this stuff is great because you can cut it to any shape and size that you want and it won't move if you do sweat or get it wet. Just don't put it on a blister you already have because it sticks really well and will cause you pain when you remove it! Also, you need to put it on before you spray your feet with deoderant because it won't stick once you do. Hope that helps! :goodvibes
