I hope it is earlier in 2021. We go in September, and our 2-year placeholder will put us in 2021.

Most likely, the maiden voyage will be a black-out date for placeholders. Since placeholders did not exist for the previous maiden voyages, we have not precedence to refer for whether or not they were black-out dates or not.

I'm good with not being on the maiden voyage, but would love to be able to go on it, during it's first few months! Do we know which port the 2021 ship is sailing out of yet?

100% agree with your points. If I pay the premium of a balcony, I want a view of the ocean and the ports. The ONLY advantage I could see families wanting with an inside balcony is to see the activities in the atrium, the characters, photo sessions, etc. But that can also be accomplished by simply walking to the atrium I think it would be a detriment to the beauty of the atrium and the aesthetics of the inside of the ship.

The same thing could be said for a view of the ocean. You could just walk to one of the many public area and see the water.

If you did a placeholder and an inaugural was blacked out, that basically means you can still transfer the money and such but the deposit discount and OBC are not applied, correct?

But you might as well just book a new booking and save the placeholder for a back to back, assuming the second sailing qualifies.

It will be interesting to see how many sailings of the new ships are blacked out. I think it's a given that the inaugural will be, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the following ones are blacked out as well. If you put yourself in Disney's shoes why would you offer discounts on sailings that are slam dunks to be sell outs anyway???

I like how you think ... but given how much any of the inaugural sailings are most likely going to cost, I don't think we would have enough in our coffers for a B2B

Yes, I agree. One can just hope that they will find their humility again in their business endeavors. Though, Hawaii and .... oh the most recent Europe itinerary that sold out as quick as Hawaii ... they weren't blacked out ... so there's hope?

So true -- but for me I wouldn't want to pay a premium price for a view of adults and kids on an hourly basis Plus walking to a window to see the ocean doesn't give you the wonderful option of sitting on your balcony in the sun and fresh air and relaxing. We've seen some amazing things from our balcony and that's the view I'd prefer

When maiden voyage opens up for booking, is it a free for all on booking like the Hawaii sailing was or is it invitation only? How was it done on prior maiden voyages? If it is invitation only, who gets invite (frequent cruisers, platinum, DVC)? Thanks in advance.

I think we will have to wait and see. I did not sail on the maiden for the Dream or Fantasy, but I do not recall that trying to book one of the voyages was all that difficult. The way Hawaii sold this year may be a sign of things to come.

There is already tired booking where CC status and ownership in DVC or Golden Oaks gives you a head start over new cruisers.

Not sure, but we couldn't even get near a reservation for the Dream or Fantasy. We did, however, sail on the Dream during her inauguration year and that was fun -- they still had merchandise to buy commemorating her maiden voyage.

My TA tried, but they could not get us a booking on the actual inaugural sailing -- we were told it was only for crew, families, company hierarchy and dignitaries. Now I'm talking about the actual sailing from Germany. The first sailing out of the States had insane pricing, so we didn't bother.

Oh yes, the Inaugural sailing that is open to the public. They still do a huge thing for that though, right? Lots of swag everywhere! Do you remember about how much the sailing out of the states was?
One of our DCL dreams is to do an inaugural and with a DCL wedding ... well, trying to see if we need to make an inaugural the honeymoon since not sure we could do one right after the wedding since inaugurals are pricey.

yea, i went on the dream in June 2011 and Fantasy December 2012 and they had all the inaugural year merch still available
