New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

It had our favorite decor, too. We were really sad when they didn't put the decor back after the Med cruises. Oh well, the Rapunzel replacement sounds like fun. I gotta get me back on the ships!
Do you have any photos of the original? We first experienced Parrot Cay on a Med 2010 cruise. Would love to see what we missed. :)
This was taken in Jul 2009. Not sure if that was before or after the decor change you're talking about.

I'll try to see if I can find them this weekend. It's been a while. I did a google search and the only pics I could find were after they removed everything. The round windows had silhouette type forms of parrots and flowers and there was more color and wall mounts.

This is beautiful, but they had already started to downsize the decor by then. We sailed in 2007 and were stunned when we walked in and saw how minimal the decor was! So disappointing that they chose to try to upscale it for the Med crowd instead of leaving it whimsical for the Disney crowd ;)

True, but some sort of homage to the classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea film would be cool. That was one of my favorite movies as a kid watching it on the Disney Channel back in the day!

Well, they do have Nemo's Reef on the newer ships.

Awwww, this makes me miss Parrot Cay! :( Even in the more subdued state....:sad1:

Seriously! :thumbsup2 Isn't Disney all about whimsy? I know some folks were not fans of Parrot Cay, but my family and I loved it since we first sailed the Magic in '99. Loved it for buffet lunches and for dinner. It was just a fun atmosphere. I really, really did not like the photos I saw of Carioca's. Guess that was a bust as it is now gone too.

They also had my favorite menu! Oh well -- it was fun while it lasted.

So if we have Tiana's and Rapunzel dining experiences, does this mean we might see other themed dining? Moana? Big Hero 6? Brave?

I would be interested to see a restaurant themed to the ""Spirit of Adventure" from Up.

I think an Alice in Wonderland restaurant would be really special. Big chair backs, teapots, mad hatters.

I wonder if DCL goes towards having one special themed movie based restaurant on each ship to get people excited about trying them. This would be in addition to Animators which I can’t imagine them not having, a d the more formal restaurant.

Edited to add I think a Snow White/Biergarten theme would be cool too. I think they could also have fun with decor around Aladdin but the menu might be tricky for DCLs preferred “safe” and familiar menus.

Love the Alice idea! That would be so much fun. There is a bar in Phoenix that just opened with that theme and it looks like so much fun.

And yet people go bonkers for schwarma...

LOVE the idea of the Alice in Wonderland -- with maybe a menu of British favorites -- adding idea to first page.

I'd like to add to page one the estimated launch dates for the new ships. Anyone have those handy?

I don't believe there is anything known right now besides projected years of 2021, 2022, and 2023.

That's fine -- I just wanted to list the years (just for reference) and then when more details come out about each ship, I can add on. Thanks.

If I recall the timelines for the Dream-class right, we should get more info on the 2021 ship around early-mid 2019 depending on when in 2021 they intend to launch her.

ETA: Went back and checked one of my earlier posts in this thread, it looks like it was just shy of 2 years between name announcements and the Dream sailing.

With the news this week out of Port Canaveral and Miami, its almost a certainty that two of the new LNG ships are “home porting” in Canaveral to take over the current dream and fantasy schedules.

Port Miami is in talks with Disney to build Disney their own terminal for a “home port” of another ship to do 4 and 5 night sailings. My guess is this will be the third new LNG ship.

I’m really excited about year round 4 and 5 night options. I bet they have cruises that stop at both castaway cay and the new private facility!

I still think all 4 of the other ships will be roving much of the year as the magic and wonder do now.
