Sure it’s been worse than I thought they’d let it get but goodness me, this is exaggerative. I think right now it’s actually about not letting emotions guide you, logic says keep your plans and prep your backup- not spiral into doomsday thinking.

I got space in my brain for all scenarios. I have for a couple of decades.

I'm so sorry for everyone going through this for your upcoming trips - Disney and non-Disney.

While we were very lucky to have no issues when all was said and done, I can't lie and say this did not put a damper/dark cloud on our trip. Worrying about getting home was always in the back of our minds.

Probably depends on how the insurance cert is written.

When Delta cancelled our flights because of their computer issues in 24, our trip insurance paid for our rental car, gas, and food for the trip back (Delta reimbursed the cost of the flights).

That was on the return though.

Its going to depend on the policy. Missing a cruise due to a flight cancellation or delay normally falls under trip interruption and requires a delay or cancellation with no chance to rebook for 24 hours. So if you are booked for a flight arriving the night before at 6pm and it is cancelled they will not cover missing the cruise due to the 24 hour rule.

It looks like my husband's coworker made his 6:45am flight out of Vegas and my husband messaged me about 20 mins ago as he was on the plane watching the luggage be loaded (he has golf clubs) so his Vegas flight should be leaving just about now.

I know my husband has pre-check not sure about his coworker.

DISer friend is scheduled to leave from KCI to Orlando Monday and as far as he has notification of his flights are okay.

From what I can find it's not necessarily tied to what you're talking about.

It's what type of trip insurance did you have (like cancel for any reason) and what the airline codes it as. If the airline doesn't coded it as a qualifying reason regardless of whether you have cancel for any reason or credit card insurance it may not be covered.

This is tied to something the airlines can't control so it isn't a "normally" type situation

This is just not something any trip insurance would have been able to account for.

That doesnt make sense. If the flight arriving at 6p the night before is cancelled and you can't get a new flight that arrives before 6pm the day the ship departs, how would that not be covered?

I feel bad for the people having travel issues, but I feel a lot worse for the people not getting paid. Not all government employees are high earners or have savings. I was thinking about that as I was driving past the Air force base today. Lots of young families in that area. I wonder if the banks, landlords, utilities companies etc are giving federal workers an extension to pay their bills.

Relax, I never criticized anybody for worrying about their flights. Sometimes it's ok to put things in perspective.

The chances of zero flights being available for 24 hours is extremely rare but what is more likely is a flight that say gets you in at 5PM the day of sailing and you still missing your cruise. 6 PM was not the best example but many ppl take flights that leave after work and arrive late the night before in which case travel insurance is not going to help unless you have cancel for any reason coverage

What time was your flight? I heard SW was cancelling a lot of 6 am and 6 pm flights to Orlando.

930 am. But the plane that we were on that was coming from Tampa was 630 I think.
