On the way to church this morning DH said he had a great idea for a new Disney Resort. He thought it would be neat to have a Nascar/Racing themed resort with lots of racing memorabilia everywhere. He said it should be called All Star Race Car or something like that. So here is my question... If you were going to create a new Disney Resort what name would you choose and what theme would you prefer?

Hmm, I really think the new resort would be called, yes, we are more than a family of 4 and we are tiring of having to pay deluxe prices or having to get 2 rooms in peak season for less than $200 a night. Seriously, I think disney should look at a suite type place room for less than $200 per night called the disney frienship inn or something. Like the kidsuites at holiday inn. They should be themed, princess places, villians etc. under the sea - ariel, nemo etc. Or the Fantasy Inn etc. You get the picture. Just someplace for my family of 5 at a non deluxe price, preferably with queen beds for my 6'2 ds who is still growing and my tall dh too. Double just doesnt cut it for us.

The nascar thing sounds really dumb to me. Disney has magic and "themed"resorts. Disney doesnt own nascar.

i think they should build a resort styled as the Hollywood Tower Hotel ala Tower of Terror...Maybe somewhere close to MGM, and with this theme it'd totally be deluxed but it would be pretty awesome.

We had discussed this earlier, and I liked the idea of a castle resort. With the popularity of the princesses, this could be fabulous. Each section could be themed differently...an Arabian "castle" for Jasmine (wait a minute..I'm not sure how you would differentiate among the other princesses....maybe by color schemes? Blue-Cinderella section of the castle, yellow=Belle, pink=Aurora, red=Snow White?) princess:

How about a resort that celebrates the US? It could be set up as 50 separate buildings, or five main buildings with 10 wings each. Each building/wing would be named after a state. The food court could serve specialties from each state. The decor would be pertinent to each state. And swimming pool shapes could be a particular region/state, and rooms would be decorated with paintings/pictures pertinent to that state. And the resort could keep a fun display that keeps track of how many visitors from each state have stayed there.

Just a thought ...

The OP was simply throwing out an idea and asked others to add their ideas. You are entitled to your opinion just like everyone esle, but really there is no need for the personal attacks.

The only thing about the princess resorts would be how many families with boys would choose to stay there?

I have always wondered why Disney hasn't built a character themed hotel...I think something designed specifically for families, like the suites that were mentioned earlier. Does Disney listen to guests suggestions? If so, maybe we will see one in the future.

However, that's I wish I could somehow get my foot in the door with the NASCAR folks.....NASAC people have a lot of "disposable income" that would launch my business into "INFINITY AND BEYOND." In addition, most of the men associated with NASCAR have lots of money...I am sure Disney wouldn't mind taking a few dollars here and there off their hands.

I am not a NASCAR fan...but I can smell money a mile away.

Your response to that post was :earseek: :earseek: ! Let's play nice

MY IDEA FOR A NEW THEME RESORT: DISNEY VILLAN"S RESORT (good for boys and girls)

I like the Asian Resort that was a partof the original plan of Walt. It was supposed to be in the area between TTC and the Contemporary. It stil seems to be the best resort idea and one with many ways to "cross market" with movies, toys, etc.

I got caught up in a arguement with someone else on this board because of their insensitive comments.

The OP poster started a great thread because we all have good ideas on a new Disney themed resort.

Don't get caught up like I did! Ignore and keep posting!!!

I can't help but vote for a pirate themed resort. My ds is such a huge pirate fan and it's even had an effect on my three dd's now! We are definitely a pirate-loving family.

However, MGM does have the villain thing going on, so a villain themed resort could work near there too.

Disney is there to please kids and familes, NOT just fathers. Go to race cities if you want to see nascar, go to disney if you want to see Mickey!

That was totally uncalled for! First of all the original poster was just playing an imaginary "what if" game, she was not suggesting that Disney open a NASCAR resort. Even if she was, I can't believe that anyone would be that insensitive, or uneducated. I happen to be a NASCAR fan (I am watching the Daytona 500 right now.) I live in Wisconsin, but was born and raised down south. I would not consider myself a "hick" by any means. I have been to NASCAR races and the people I see there are just like people everywhere else, there are many different people with many different appearances and personalities. Although I am sure that I have been called worse names than "redneck hick" I still think that you need to be careful how you label people, this is supposed to be a friendly board!!!

Someone once mentioned to me that Disney had originally planned on building a resort modeled after Venice. I would totally pay deluxe rate x 2 to stay there...especialy if they had some sort of canal system with regularly scheduled gondola rides :)

WDW has lots of European visitors so how about a European themed hotel. It could be done in a similar style to the New York New York hotel in Las Vegas (various buildings from New York stood together as a skyline.) A different famous building from various European countries could be put next to one another to make one hotel. The theaming in each section could be from that country. You could have the leaning tower of Pisa joined on to the Eiffel tower, joined on to the tower of London. I think it would look really good. Perhaps it could be located somewhere near Epcot. (I know there isn't room, but we are not takling reality here!!) I have stayed in the New York hotel in Disneyland Paris which is themed on the Big Apple which I enjoyed.

ETA: TheNerdyMinnie, you mean like the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas? That hotel is stunning. I would love to stay there again.

I wasn't thinking about the Venetian hotel, but I just checked it out and YES! Definitely something along those lines...but with a lil' more Mickey pizzazz :teeth:

Disney is definitely missing a european resort. I live in Europe...and it's my second favorite place (after Disneyworld that is :earboy2: ) !!

Combine the two and I just might have to move!
