It's troublesome for sure. I would not personally own a dog, but I worry about people who hate them this much. I am suspicious of people who hate animals.
I don't mean to derail the thread at all but it was a bit of a emotional toll on me to be honest when I saw the now 3-legged dog walking as best that she could on my sidewalk. I mentioned this in the other thread-one of my neighbors fosters dogs and the most recent dog was one that a person thought from a distance looked like a pitbull and so for no other reason than that they shot her. She lived thankfully but lost a leg from the incident. The dog by the way was not a pitbull and even if it was *I just can't even*. And that brought it so close to home. One thing to see how some people react towards dogs when you're reading a news articl,e it's another to see the evidence right there in front of you. And yes to be fair I would imagine that's the same for someone who was attacked by a dog as well. It would be one thing to hear about dog attacks and another to be actually attacked.

I can't seem to pick one, strangely enough. My concerns stem a lot from both Disney's inability to develop clear policy/plans here, and my personal experience with their lack of enforcement of even clear and basic rules, so I'll probably wait until my trial period trip to vote...
I can def. understand that and makes sense. Do you mind sharing if you voted in the other thread?

A lot of those who are intolerant (I refrain from using the word hate) animals also have germ or cleanliness issues. It's hard to keep things spotless and germ free with an animals around.
And some do just dislike animals for no reason but I do think must of it goes back to keeping things clean and fur free.

Honestly I'm just not sure that most is how I would personally feel. If we're talking about the DISers and only the DISers yes I would def. agree with you (really as a whole the DISers are an amazing group of people). If we're talking about the general public..very little of what I have heard and seen has much to do about germs or cleanlliness when it comes to dislike of animals. There is however people who just won't stand for any barking so they poison the dog, or they can't stand the idea of stray cats so they round them up and...

I totally get that. I hate cat hair and I have 3 cats. Go figure. I was just unnerved by some of the posts in that thread.

Totally me. I don't hate your dog but I don't want to stay in a room where your pet has left hair and saliva and anything else that might leak on the chair upholstery, carpet and bedspread (because we all know the bedspreads are not changed regularly between guests). When it rains and the dog is wet and then is all over the room it just makes my skin crawl.

I saw where the "relief" areas are at POR and there is one right outside the mansions where you have to walk to get to the main path. I really don't think it's magical to have to walk by your pet while it's pooping. I don't want to smell it either even for a brief period.

It is kind of interesting that you see people that don't want dogs left at a resort all day, as hating animals. That people that don't want dogs scratching doors, door frames, walls and furniture, as hating animals. That people that don't want dogs left alone in a strange room while there are fireworks going off, as hating dogs.

I would think that those people are showing their love for animals.

I specifically left that thread because of posts like this. You are over generalizing my comments. As I posted a few posts up, SOME of the comments in that thread were unnerving. SOME not ALL.

Didn't the pet policy take effect on the 15th?
The thread and the rush of comments started before the policy even took place (ETA: and I do understand as Disney gave virtually no notice for either side-those wanting to avoid dogs and those wanting to take their dog). As of now yes the policy is in effect but as of yet there hasn't been a person who to my knowledge has actually been there with a dog since the new policy has taken place (I apologize if I missed a thread or a comment where a person has had experience now with the new policy). There is a thread that was created so those who have had actual experiences can post there. It's slow right now because we're only 3 days in lol.

I think that a lot of strong feelings stem from a belief that Disney won't do this right...they won't clean the rooms properly, they won't tell guests where they can and can't be with their dog, they won't crack down on barking, no weight restrictions. For a resort that is so beloved, some folks don't seem to have a lot of confidence in it if that makes sense

I honestly don't believe that the welfare of dogs is what most people are concerned about.

Agree! I feel like I fall into that category so I'll weigh in...I feel like my dissatisfaction with Disney is slowly accumulating over time, like the bloom is falling off of the rose, so to speak. However, the counterbalance is how much my kids love it and what a blast we have overall when we go. So my approach has been to try to troubleshoot before when Disney throws me a curveball, then make the best of things in the moment when stuff happens on my vacation. Like when someone breaks a rule that directly impacts me (fill in the blank, we all have experiences!), I've posted before that it's a cost/benefit ratio for me in the moment. Address it with a CM and grin and bear it or whatever if it's not resolved so it doesn't take away from my fun with my family. But I will say my confidence has been eroding over time, and this situation doesn't help. I've been reading posts about how surprised management is about concerns - and not even speaking to the perceived validity of the concerns - it really stuns me that they didn't think through all the different issues that might impact guests in a more thorough and thoughtful manner. Sorry, I tend to go on...

Folks, please don't make the assumption that those who voted for the option below, hate dogs or animals. They just REALLY don't like the idea. Maybe some hate dogs or animals, but that's a pretty big accusation, with absolutely no basis. By the way, I didn't vote the option listed below :)

No! Absolutely not. Worst idea ever!

And maybe they won't. But I'm still not sold that pets are going to be more of a problem than other guests are. I'm just not sold that it's going to be a major problem. I think in the entire percentage of guests at Disney, the ones that will bring pets are going to be minuscule, percentage wise. Due to cost and travel issues alone
But I do know I've had 1 room where I stayed next to a dog, last year, before this new policy came in to play. We could hear the dog barking each time a door opened/closed. We never heard the dog otherwise. Couldn't say if the barking continued or not, only that I didn't hear it. I can't say that I've never heard any other neighbor though. We had way more noise out of the group of gals in the room next to us last week at YC than we did out of that dog at BWI. And that was at 2AM, not PM

I'm going with yes as long as it stays at a Handful of resorts. This to me will satisfy everyone. Seems like most people don't want it at all, but there obviously is some do. So make it available to people that have the need/want, but give the rest of us our dog free resorts. Everyone is happy.

I love animals. But I personally don't understand why anyone would want them living in their house, or going on vacation with them. Just my opinion. I completely understand that there are plenty that do. That's why I chose keep the dog resorts at the 4. Then those of us that don't want to vacation with dogs can, and those that want to can. To me it's the only option that can please everyone.
