I wanted to create a new poll regarding the new pet policy. With 2 answers it's very black and white. I'm genuinely interested if there's any gray here. Not that I expect a huge shift in opinion I would just like to see the breakdown better.

Good list of options. Honestly, takes more consideration before casting a vote.

The only thing I would have changed, since this is specific to dogs, is for the second option to read

"No! I love dogs but don't want them in the resorts."

Dang it! I can't change it! Good call though. :)

Just for reference, in a relatively short hour and a half, here are where the results were:
  1. Absolutely not. Worst idea ever! 15 vote(s) 21.4%
  2. No! I love animals but don't want them in the resorts. 34 vote(s) 48.6%
  3. I couldn't care less either way. 5 vote(s) 7.1%
  4. Yes. As long as dogs are restricted to certain buildings and out of common areas. 8 vote(s) 11.4%
  5. Yes. Until I step in dog crap or deal with an incident personally. Then a big fat No! 0 vote(s) 0.0%
  6. Yes. As long as it remains in a handful of resorts. 1 vote(s) 1.4%
  7. Yes! I love dogs. Bring on the pooches! 7 vote(s) 10.0%
  8. Other 0 vote(s) 0.0%
Only 70 votes in.

I appreciate you creating this poll. The other poll was fine of course but it was polarizing from the start. The 'other' option at the very least could have been used on the other thread to capture those whose opinion doesn't fit into a yes or no box. At the same time there had to be enough comments made for you to be able to get your options. Either way like you I don't expect a huge shift at all but it's helpful I think to see more of what is the concerns in this way.

We just moved to another Disney resort for our trip in December (we were staying at Port Orleans Riverside). We tend to do rope drop, nap in the afternoon and stay until park closing (midnight for MVMCP). I read Disney's policy that if dogs are barking you have to get back in 30 minutes to do something. There is no way to actually be anywhere in 30 minutes at Disney World if you are at a park (even if you drive your own car). Seriously? I love animals, but I also love the few hours of sleep I get on a Disney vacation.

I love dogs (have never had one though) and meeting dogs when I'm on vacation makes me happy. They're way more fun to meet than people. And I think the hysteria over dog-friendly resorts will be largely unfounded. But we'll see!

I do agree it wasn't great to spring it on guests who may not have the option to switch resorts, however.

as much as I love my dogs I don't think I could give them the attention they deserve while at WDW. Trying to get back to them for potty breakes would really eat up expensive park time.

I feel the same way. We come and go too much. However if I ever did feel like bringing him it's nice the option is there and I would change my touring accordingly.

I actually voted yes if they are restricted to certain buildings and not allowed in common areas. However...I will add...and the planned change was announced prior to the ability of guests to book rooms at the property. Cuz, now, I have dog issues.

You’d have more of a chance to hear a screaming child next door trying to be put down for a nap then a barking dog. I’ll be interested to see how this all plays out.

About 70% to 30%. Not as divided as the other poll so far but we'll see what happens over night.

I love dogs, I've always had them. For me, it's not a vacation if I have to worry about my dog. He goes to 'puppy camp', I go to WDW. It's cheaper for him to go to puppy camp than to WDW!!!
BUT....there could be legitimate reasons that someone would want to have their dog with them. No, I don't think the 'I'm going to WDW for a week and I'm too sad to leave my furbaby at home,, so he's going with me' argument is a good one! Does anyone think that dogs are happy in a strange room, alone all day? Mine wouldn't be. But, there could be those that are traveling to another place, with a short stop at WDW, and they have their dog with them. Fine, I get that.
There have always been dogs at WDW. And now, with every Tom, Dick and Harry able to bring their dog with them, dogs will be in specific areas. If I am impacted by someone's dog (barking, pooping, snarling..whatever), yes, I will be speaking to a manager.

Now, a bigger issue for me??? Dogs in the parks. Yeah, I realize there are 'emotional support' animals. But in all reality, there aren't that many! People are getting away with saying 'Oh, I need my dog with me. She's my emotional support animal'. And that dog is about as much support as my kids are!!! These people have made it very difficult for those who truly need support animals!

I struggled with a vote but went with I couldn't care less.
All in all I don't care.
I won't be bringing my dog and really, I don't care what others opt to do.
So that's why it's what I went with.
I don't think it's the best idea at first thought but I know it works at Universal so I'm not seeing why it can't work at Disney.

as much as I love my dogs I don't think I could give them the attention they deserve while at WDW. Trying to get back to them for potty breakes would really eat up expensive park time.
Which is why you won't see us bringing our dog to Disney. Even though I'd love to have one of the cute little Pluto welcome gifts, I'll be honest. Still, not practical. Plus we fly. And it costs less to board our dog at home than to pay the pet fee to Disney. All reasons why we won't bring a dog to Disney. And why I think most won't. I really think people are freaking out over something very few are going to do.
