Met burt in POR this morning. Have had to replace all of our mugs. The drinks machines now indicate on a small LCD screen an expiry date for your mug.
You also have to wait about 2.5 mins between each fill, so if you don't get it right first time, you've got a long wait. The CM said it went live this morning and is to reduce unauthorised use of the machines. We had to exchange our old mugs of 8 days since they will not dispense. Other people are being allowed to keep them

Thanks for the update, I suppose mixing drinks is now out of the question unless you want to wait :drinking1, and is that the same for the hot drinks :coffee:and even the hot water?

And I suppose it will only dispense drinks at the resort you're staying in?

Cheers and have a great time.....

I read that the new mugs are valid at all resorts but not in the waterparks, that will continue to have a different refillable mug.
In the past the mug could be used only at the resort you purchased it. But that was only the theory.

the new mugs can be used at any disney resort, not just your own . That's one of the new perks of the rapid refill system.

I read on the Disney Food Blog that you are still able to mix drinks as it records how full your drink it, so stops dispensing when it reaches the limit - up until that point, you can select however many to mix together as you like?

I've read numerous reports that you can mix drinks as above, up to the point where you reach the volume of the mug's capacity, at which point the timer kicks in and you then have to wait the 2 minutes. I can't knock back a mug full of soda or coffee in 2 minutes so it's not an issue to me, but I can imagine those with independent kids will have their hands full initially, lol

Sounds like a complicated drinking system and if it breaks down lets hope there's an over-ride so it can be switched to manual dispense.

yes the system can be reverted to the ''old'' system by the turn of a key on the dispensers

We participated in the original test 2 years ago at All Stars, it was actually very easy.

So far its been rolled out to All Stars & POR. I would imagine the rest will follow fairly quickly.

It won't affect us as we don't use the mugs anymore and at $17.99 we certainly won't :lmao:

Is there a change to the design of the mugs?

Same design different colours for the handles & lids.

Actually not entirely true, if you did a split stay where you moved straight from one resort to another Disney considered that a seamless booking and allowed the use of the mug at he second resort.

How log are they activated for. If I have a split stay and the first half of my trip is on a dining plan and I get a mug with it but the second half is not can my mug work for the whole trip?

I would guess the mug will only be validated for DDP stay only. I have noticed in the POR food court, a drinks package that can be purchased. This cost varies depending on the number of days that you require. I think you would need to purchase this for your non DDP stay.

That makes sense.

$8.99 for one day
$11.99 for 2 days
$14.99 for 3 days
$17.99 for length of stay.

It may be worth asking when you check in at the second resort if they can carry the mug over as the mug is not strictly linked to the dining plan or tickets so I can't see it being an issue.

I have read that you can a mug for the length of stay over 2 resorts as long as there are no days spent away from WDW ie you check in to the next resort the day you check out from the first. It's a manual over-ride as will lengths of stays over 14 nights.

We are staying at Pop starting this Saturday. We plan on going to POR for a show next week. Will we be able to use our mugs from Pop at POR? I know the standard answer is yes, you can use them at all resorts, but if my mug from Pop does not have the RFID chip (because Pop is not in the testing phase), and the machines at POR require the chip, how will it work?

You can't use old mugs on the new machines.

The old mugs had signs that said they were only good at the "resort beverage islands where purchased" so technically not all resorts but once they switched from non-resort specific it made it very difficult to stop.

Here is POR tarif
