"New" Disney Gift Card

WDW & Disneyshopping. com began selling a new gift card May 1st. Reloadable card, not the Disney Rewards tied into credit card.

Fine print sez it can be used @ Disney Resorts, to purchase tix @ park, restaurants, etc.

Anyone know if DVC accepts it for dining plan or other room charges?

They can definately be used at resots to pay for DVC dining plan at check-in or pay your bill at check-out, but it can't be used as a guarantee for resort charging.....

I just got two of these cards today. One for DD and myself. They have a cute hologram on it and it will make a nice souvenier.

where can you buy them. My children have been saving spend money and it would be easier to have them have a gift card then bring their cash. Thanks for the info and I would assume you can use them to buy gifts and toys at the parks?

You can buy them at disneyshopping.com, disney stores in the mall or at disney.

Go to www.disneyshopping.com and type in "disney gift card". It is the NEW one with Mickey. There is also a FAQ section under the description.

I'm pretty sure that I read they can be reloaded, will have to check when my card comes w/my order to see if the give detailed instructions.

Good to hear they can be used for purchases @ DVC. IMO, nice to give them to kids so they're not tied into CC on room key. Did ascertain that they ARE transferrable, so if you lose them - kiss them good-bye (they won't replace them).

Yes, they can be reloaded. I was at a disney store yesterday when I got mine. She called to confirm the information and made sure you can reload at any time and not just when it was depleted. I wanted to make sure before I purchased them.

You can get the card for any initial amount (in the store-min of $5, online-min of $25) and come in at any time and add more to it.

BTW, no S&H is charged @ the web-site. Unfortunately, there's no discount available either.

As of right now, there is no way to reload them online. I keep hoping that it will be an option later on down the road.

I didn't realize there was no shipping if purchased online...I didn't purchase on the website for that reason.

Oh well, that's good to know.
