Yes! Target has been doing this for YEARS with all of it's "spend X get a Target GC valued at X" promos.Really? This has nothing to do with greed. The terms are clear they don’t provide discounts on target gift cards. Whenever Target provides a “free” gift card with purchase they always charge you face value of that and discount the purchase that qualified for it. The card has to be paid for at face value so that it can be properly tracked in the financial reporting as technically it is a liability on the books until it has been redeemed.
I can confirm I have only had to verify the initial load amount and retailer. It's funny because the retailer isn't always where you actually purchased the card. DGCs from Disney Store are fine, but Walgreens is notoriously wrong when you look at the history.I understand but perhaps I’m the one who isn’t a good job explaining lol
From what I remember the people who have had issues just had to inform the phone rep card A was bought for $25 at Walmart on 1/1/25 and card b was bought from CVS on 3/1/25 for $50. They never had to discuss that A transferred to B on 4/1/25 or that you bought a Mickey bar on 4/4/25 with card B.
It sounds like you are very organized.
Does your spreadsheet include the giftcard and pin/ean? Does the spreadsheet also include the transaction information for when you bought the cards?
If that is the case I think you should be fine to discard the cards that you have transferred money from and its associated records from the folder.
Hope that helps.
If you're getting an error the Target GC automatically loaded to your account. Count the number of $10 GCs you have and cross reference your purchase history.Did you have any trouble adding the second $10 gift card to Target Wallet? My first $10 gift card was fine but then I ordered another $100 card and email came for the $10 gift card but when I try to add to Wallet, last digit disappears so of course Wallet won't accept. Does anyone else have this happening? I was going to buy 10 cards one at a time but now I don't think so because can't get this second one to work. Thank you for responding. Frustrated.
I did the same thing. My Target gift cards took a bit longer to come by email and even longer to add to my Target wallet. And even then, my wallet would say I had $40 in gift cards but when I clicked on it, it had 5 $10 gift card. It all finally updated but was very slow.@DVCjj Confirm first that the Target GCs weren't auto added to your account (check available payment methods). I also got frustrated thinking each couldn't be added till I realized Target had auto added them for me. If this is not the case you might need to call.
I paid off a play later 4 debt and it doesnt do that. What it does though is should free up access to that credit line to do another purchase for another round of risk savings (may take a few hrs).
I[ve tried with 3 different orders (various items) at this point-Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've got a cc on PP set to my preferred method etc- when I try to click thru to pay in 4,screen says I need to add a cc for the autopay.... so my only option is to add a different cc? I tried inputting the main one I want to use, and it says it can;t be used for this..... help! What card to you have on there? Chase cards won't work. I got through on my Wells Fargo 2% card, others having success on AmEx.I can't get the PayPal 'pay4' offer to work ....I[ve tried with 3 different orders (various items) at this point-Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Ah I didn't realize that! ok thank you that's the problem. What card to you have on there? Chase cards won't work. I got through on my Wells Fargo 2% card, others having success on AmEx.
Actually, this is the best explanation I have seen yet. Totally makes sense.Yes! Target has been doing this for YEARS with all of it's "spend X get a Target GC valued at X" promos.
Target has to do this because it lowers the amount charged for each item in the category based on the GC value you get. If Target didn't do this, people would buy a ton of merch, pocket the GC, return the merch, and keep the GC. This way the guest "paid" for the promotional GC and returns the merchandise at a fraction of the price.
I understand it seems shady on a GC because it can't be returned, but I am just happy the 5% still works on GCs. It makes these deals very lucrative. I am not going to cry over $5 for every $1k when I am still saving 14.5%.

I can answer these:Question, since you paid off a paid in 4.
1) are the 20% points still pending (I know you said they were yesterday morning, wondering if they continue to be)?
2) did the system give you a chance to pay off the remaining debt on a different card than the one you started the Paid in 4?
Thinking ahead to the December Paypal bonus on Chase Freedom. It's not eligible to be the paid in 4 card but maybe it could be used to pay off the debt and hit another 5% on the balance of the transaction.
Thanks for confirming! If it can't cut over to Chase, might as well wait it out and let it pay as it goes.I can answer these:
1) Points still pending and everything looks normal.
2) You can change the credit card at any point. But won’t let you select chase cards. It’ll be the same options you had when applying for the pay in 4.
when you order , it should add the $10 target gift cart to your chart. did you see the gift card on your cart? if not, then that was the problem. the gift card is not given AFTER the purchase, it shows up on check out (if added) and it will be freeJust ordered 2x email-delivery $100 DGC online with Target and they only sent me a single $10 Target GC. Using the chat support and they say it's a max of 1x $10 Target gift card per order no matter how much once you meet the $100.
Has anyone ordered more than 1 $100 DGC with this Target promotion and received more than 1 $10 Target GC?
