True. But you will still have the gift card in hand. It is sent on purchase, not on activation.

The real question is would you be better off keeping the cost of the AP in high-interest savings account, and I think the answer ot that is probably yes in the current interest rate environment. (And: I don't see interest rates getting a lot lower anytime soon.)

Yes, you have one year to activate from time of purchase. Since I'm not going for 2 to 2.5 yrs, that's too long for me to keep the money tied up. But if you're going next year, it seems like it could work. I'm just hoping the stars align for me and the deal comes back in the second half of 2027

Probably True but I plan on doing this before the price goes up in October.
I have saved more in DGC than the 4-5% HISA would have provided and will be using the gift cards to pay.

I'm thinking more about the case when you do not plan to activate in the next year. In that case, you are not avoiding the October increase, because (I think!) you only get credit paid towards the then-current price.

For anyone activing within the year (and not in a position to renew) this is probably better than a HYSA; the savings are about 6%, which would not be easy to match, particularly post-tax.

(And it would really stink if they only credited you the net after the gift card for >1year usage, which I think is unlikely but not impossible.)

Oh no, you can buy now and as long as you activate within a year of purchase you are fine/would not have to pay more. The ticket would not have expired yet!

I meant that it used to be possible to buy park tickets and APs without expiration and use them over a year later for the equivalent ticket, regardless of price increases.

Think of a different gift. Universal gift cards are much harder to get hold of than Disney. Even if SF sold them I don’t see the hotel being allowed to take such a risk. A credit card payment for a gc over the phone that you then deliver to a 3rd party? I’d be wondering if I should call security just at receiving such a request lol

You got the $150 so the flat rate vs percentage was already in effect it seems like as 15% would have been $161.85 on a Sorcerer.

Ah, found an old article! link Looks like it's always been an approximately 15% thing. Incredipass renewal discount has been $250 for at least the last year and Sorcerer $150. Must just be a shift in marketing approach.

That said- if you only got $150 off an Incredipass renewal you should get back on the phone with Disney because they owe you $100.

I better check but I’m sure I got the 15%. I’ll have to look at receip again. So funny I paid with gift cards and the receipt was a mile long CM rolled it up like toilet paper

Sounds to me like you can purchase the new pass now and activate within a year. Wonder how it works with monthly payments.

Call today and ask a CM whether they can honor the promo- I've been reading reports that they will grandfather you in to the promo if you purchased within the last 14 days. YMMV but worth a try!

I guess the language now is "up to 50%". I don't always trust info from PlanDisney, but found this when looking up the renewal prices recently:

Any reason to believe we cant purchase our passes with GCS (we got discounted) and get the new $100 promo on the Sorceror pass? Trying to stack this the best way possible, haha. We have 7 passes to buy!
