I saw that too when researching cruise trip insurance. The cruise line can refund gc’s but if outside their refund window and you want your trip insurance to reimburse you they don’t cover costs paid by gift card. I never could find an example of anyone who tested this. Read your trip insurance, maybe it will explicitly state it.

Yeah, now I’m wondering if it’s gonna be better just to go with the DCL insurance they provide so that in case my gift cards aren’t refunded at least I’ll get 75% credit cruise, if I read that right , on a cruise booked within the next year which I’m fine with that
But also, I found out my chase freedom credit card has trip insurance and it says if even part of it is charged to the credit card, so I need to look more into that too
I’m more just worried about if somebody gets sick or there’s a death in the family

Here was my experience when having to file a claim through my 3rd party trip insurance when I had to cancel a NCL cruise due to illness/emergency surgery.

Along with the claim form I also had to include both the NCL confirmation and a copy of the airfare purchase from JetBlue which showed I paid by credit card. I also had to chow proof of the cancelation for both from NCL and JB. I also had to include a copy my AMEX statements (with other charges redacted) proving that I was charged by AMEX for both the cruise and airfare. In the end all my charges that were not refunded to my AMEX per NCL policy were paid as well as the full amount of the airfare by a check from the TI company.

If paying by DGC I don't believe there would be a way to prove it as there is no statement for the DGC.

Also read that CF coverage to make sure it’s what you’re worried about. It only covers a few very specific things. Here’s an overview, you need to read your specific guide to benefits to know for sure

Some bonuses state "with your Recard" while others don't. You need to look at the terms on the bonus you got.

On the BJ's Wholesale Club homepage, there is a section that says Deals & Coupons and you can click coupons here and add them to your account....as long as you're logged in to your account.

You can also do this on the BJ's Wholesale Club app if you're logged in to your account.

Not sure if this is news to anyone but I just came back from Target where I had 2 more steps of the 3x$50 = $15 reward expiring tonight. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get $10 off of health & personal care of $40 (Circle deal expires 2/1) for one and BOGO 10% off for prepaid airtime cards (I'm on T-Mobile) for the other.

That is way too much to pressure to put on someone, we run through lots of deals & have many users. We all love the best deals- and Best Buy is as easy as it gets these days. Maybe the user will watch for you, like maybe you’re watching something for them elsewhere? Otherwise, not cool to request someone tag you for the best deal.

This morning I spent some time on the phone with Allianz representatives and supervisors regarding the required documentation for travel expense payments - and specifically addressed gift cards in general. I now have specific confirmation of the steps that are needed IF ANY of the trip costs are paid by ANY gift card - Visa, MC, AMEX, or Disney Gift Card. They require a copy of the original receipt of purchase for the gift card, along with a copy of the gift card used. In addition, they require a copy of the source of payment for the gift card to verify the actual cost of the gift card (if a discount was used)...ie credit card statement. Even went as far as to give me information applicable to gift cards received as gifts. That was interesting. I kept a file for the call and the names etc of the individuals I spoke with. The website info for claim documents is fairly generic, but both individuals were able to give me specific examples of accepted proof of payment - particularly related to items they consider to be “cash”. In my opinion it's worth the call. YMMV
